Mccain Bush Vote

Los Angeles Times:

A report by liberal blogger and author Arianna Huffington that John McCain had admitted not voting for George W. Bush in the 2000 presidential race spurred a minor tempest and brought angry denials from McCain's campaign on Tuesday.

On her Huffington Post website Monday, the pundit reported that the presumptive Republican presidential nominee had confided shortly after his bitter loss nearly eight years ago that he had not voted for Bush.

A writer at the Huffington post needs to go back to basic English class. I was trying to see the "corroboration" the headlines alludes to, but all I got was an article talking about Huffington's claim.

I know this site is not the best place to come to get objective news, but this headline is just plain wrong. The writer should be giving a dictionary ASAP so he could read the meaning of the word corroboration because he surely doesn't know it.

Just like McCain's spokesman said...it's HuffPo...consider the source

Everyone who was there basically knew everyone else, except the bodyguards who are nameless, faceless people who are hired, in part, because they are discreet. And no one who knows him wants a dose of McCain's wrath if he happens to be elected senile-old-goat-in-chief.

But McCain didn't vote for Bush and several people know it. He wasn't keeping it secret at the time and Cindy hadn't been to the plastic surgeon nearly as much.. Wait until November. As soon as McCain loses, more people will talk.

Excuse me, HuffPo headline writers: Do you know what the word "corroborate" means? The LA Times report simply repeated Arianna's claims. It did NOT corroborate anything. How do you get away with writing such sloppy, misleading headlines? I can't believe such deception is tolerated.

It hurt McCain for being a liar. It helps for being anti-Bush in this case, but his policies are the same as Bush. He will run the country into the ground continuing Bush's policies.

I'm confused, is this story supposed to help or hurt McCain with swing voters. Seems as though this story would be a positive for McCain.

Exactly how is the LA Times story a corroboration? It is simply a regurgitation of the HuffingtonPost story. There's no additional reporting being done by the LA Times to either corroborate or refute the story.
Yet another misleading headline by HuffingtonPost editors. Really, this is getting quite tiring and it's putting me off clicking through on many of your headlines HuffPo. I just figure that most of them are lies written to get me to click through.
Do you really want to lose the one thing that a journalist has to sell-credibility?

Right - as opposed to, say, Fox News.

That is exactly what is wrong with politics as it is played in the USA. especially as played by the Republican Party.

McCain feels free to outright lie to the public. About big stuff, little stuff. Everything is spin. no compunction about not telling the truth. No feeling that truth is better than lies.

You can lie and get away with it.

My Mother taught me not to lie. Not even "little" white lies. She taught me that lying is bad. And taught me that anyone who lies to me is a bad person.

End of story.

Except: I used to have a lot of respect for Senator McCain. I thought better of him than he apparently deserves.

The Birth of Carla Rove
Hilary Clinton won in Indiana as a Republican, and that is the advantage that she keeps touting. Bush talk, Rove strategy. She speaks of obliteration, an acceptable word as long as you're not talking about abortion rights. Do women have to fight fair? No. And they don't have to tell the truth, either. But she asked us to join her in the historic nature of her candidacy as a Democratic woman while at the same time assuring us that she's really a Republican man. What's revolutionary about that?

Thanks for keeping this alive. McCain lies as easily as he pisses and I'm glad you aren't letting him get away with it.

AND, special high-fives for cross-referencing that little rodent Mark Salter with the very startling presentation by student Jean Rohe at a New School commencement ceremony sometime ago. His remarks back to her - and the entire graduating class, was the height of wrongness, including his comment that "Very Unlikely Any Of You Will Ever Possess...One Small Fraction Of The Character Of John McCain".

I missed the corroboration part.
I did like this BushWorld statement from the LAT article, though:

"it included false charges that Cindy McCain was a drug addict (she had been addicted to Percocet and Vicodin after two back operations)"

I hope that Arianna's story is truer than the lying word "corroborates" in this headline. HP has established a headline style that is noticeable. Most headlines are true, but a heavy percentage of spectacular headlines are shockingly ignorant, to put the best spin possible on them. Whoever wrote this headline either doesn't know what "corroborate" means or didn't read the story closely.
