Hillary Clinton Loan Suspected, Campaign "Close To Broke"

Ben Smith of Politico reported Tuesday night that Hillary Clinton might have made another loan to her campaign:

I asked Clinton campaign chairman Terry McAuliffe just now whether Clinton had given or loaned her campaign more money in the run-up to North Carolina and Indiana.

"Might be. Might not be," McAuliffe said, adding that the campaign would release more fundraising details tomorrow.

Clinton Advisers Expect Calls To Withdraw From Supporters: The New York Times article on Tuesday's primary results includes some interesting details about the state of the Clinton campaign following her big loss in North Carolina:

Mrs. Clinton's advisers acknowledged that the results of the primaries were far less than they had hoped, and said they were likely to face new pleas even from some of their own supporters for her to quit the race. They said they expected fund-raising to become even harder now; one adviser said the campaign was essentially broke, and several others refused to say whether Mrs. Clinton had lent the campaign money from her personal account to keep it afloat.

The advisers said they were dispirited over the loss in North Carolina, after her campaign -- working off a shoestring budget as spending outpaces fund-raising -- decided to allocate millions of dollars, some key operatives and full days of the candidate and her husband there.

Hillary should really step back and take a real world assessment of the situation. Prolonging the agony of her defeat and of her party and America seems so small. She is larger than that and I agree with those posting that the party should come together.

I think she may not be a VP pick, but she certainly is a welcome part of the Democratic party. She needs to get a grip on herself and have a hard look in the mirror. Like now.

Hillary will make another 100 million from her experiences with this campaign if she loses. Add 300 million if she becomes the first woman president.

Barack Obama will make 300-500 million after he leaves the presidency if he has an 8 year run like Bill Clinton. Maybe a billion.

You Obama lovers, I am sure you think he will give most of the money to charity. He will have a huge mansion next to Rev. Wright. These two are liars and hypocrites. Obama is worse because he pretends to be totally free from special interests. Yeah, only the Clintons have selfish ambitions.

sf94127,

I think you might be getting mixed up with McCain and his NINE homes and according to the Clinton's they have numerous homes also. Obama has ONE.

I know it is hard to be republican right now, but deal with it. We had to deal with Bush for eight years and now we finally have integrity coming our way and we are SO open to that!

Bush, McCain= war mongling idiots

I HAVE TO STRONGLY CAUTION ALL OBAMA SUPPORTERS WHOSE STATES HAVE NOT YET VOTED, PLEASE GET OUT AND VOTE WHEN YOUR VOTING DATE ARRIVES. THE RACE IS NOT OVER, SO DO NOT BUY INTO WHAT THE MEDIA IS SAYING. THEY ARE GIVING OFF A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY.

IF THE MEDIA ARE ABLE TO GET OBAMA'S VOTERS TO STAY AT HOME, WITH THE FALSE SENSE THAT OBAMA HAS ALREADY WON, HILLARY WILL WALK OFF WITH THE NOMINATION, BECAUSE YOU BETTER BELIEVE THAT HILLARY IS TELLING HER SUPPORTERS TO GO OUT AND VOTE.

OBAMA SUPPORTERS, THIS RACE IS NOT DONE UNTIL ALL THE VOTING IN EVERY STATE IS DONE.
SO OBAMA VOTERS GET OUT AND VOTE, NO MATTER WHAT THE MEDIA SAYS, OBAMA NEEDS ALL YOUR VOTES, THIS RACE IS NOT OVER UNTIL ALL THE STATES HAVE VOTED!!!

Dear Menopuasal Mick and WhatsMyName:

Loved the posts and yes mick that's the longest sentence I've ever read. However check this:

Paul v. Clinton http://www.lasuperiorcourt.org/civilcasesummary/index.asp How can a person be
a presidential candidate and on trial for fraud. More news, the Clinton's former pastor, Reverend William Procanick was convicted of Child Molestation.
http://www.iticaod.com/homepage/x1637676857

In addition, their present pastor Reverend Dean Snyder, states that Reverend Wright is an outstanding church leader. Guess Hillary and Bill will have to leave that church.

Darlin', I couldn't get either of those sites to give me info. It's probably my fault...I think periodically I manage to break the entie internet.

I hear what you're saying though. I worry that all the Clinton supporters will be so disenfranchised that they sit out this election cycle. I try and put forth a unifiying message in an attempt to gather their heartfelt passion for the battle ahead with McCain. We need everybody.

I am so glad to end the bush/clinton era. I know Senator Obama would not even consider Hill on his ticket and rightfully so. He needs someone who shares his values and vision and Hill is not the one.
I believe Hill underestimated Barack. She was so focused on the belief she would win hands down she lost sight of the big picture.
I do not feel comfortable with her handling the economic issues. How will she handle the economy when she can not handle her own campaign finances
I was appauld by her comment about oblitering Iran. What we should be doing is using diplomacy to make sure Iran does not have the opportunity to get nuclear weapons. I can not believe she wants to punish the people of Iran. She was unwilling to listen to economist concerning the stupid gas tax relief for the summer she proposed. That should give you insight what kind of president she would be. All i can say is thank goodness the majority of American people have seen through her before it was to late God does work in mysterious ways.

We KNOW the country can't take another four years of lying, warmongering, election stealing, torturing, pandering to lobbyists, killing people to protect oil fields, unprecedented budget deficits, relaxing market share requirements for corporate media with political agendas, appointing agency heads designed to dismantle the very agencies they administrate, dragging our country into an acceptance of the blending of church and state, protecting oil companys' profits while refusing to address alternative energy, refusing to fix a questionable voting process, purposely outing a CIA operative and then pardoning the only person to ever be tried for the crime, suspension of habeas corpus, hiring pentagon approved special analysts that have personal financial gains for the opinions they give to a news forum guaranteed to parade the propoganda, executive orders issued secretly even when they rescind an existing order believed to be the policy, signing statements, no bid contracts with billions of money missing, no oversight, no checks and dadgummit BALANCES....

That's the longest sentence I ever wrote and it isn't EVEN complete.

Feel free to attach a comment and add to the list...because if Dems would keep reading what's at stake for our country, we could put aside ANY and EVERY thing for the single purpose of keeping McCain out of the White House. It is THAT important. Besides, if the supporters will calm down a bit, it might not be too late to combine the ticket. They won't try if we continue the polarized rhetoric

Menopausal Mick, you really do have something and first I'll give you credit for that longggggg sentence as it was right-on-the-money but when you say combine the ticket? Did you just have a hot flash, and lost your train of thought? Or, worse, perhaps your mind? You must be one of those people that gets caught up in a holiday and invites everyone you can think of -without thinking or wondering, muchless knowing if they will all get along. So, I can only think you are the type that says, "....hell, let 'em fight it out and they'll soon tire and it will eventually be all good." Well, that's what you're asking if you mean Hillary, and Bill, (because ya cain't have one weeth att duh udder yuk yuk) and I wouldn't wish THAT on anybody. Those hicks are worse than whitye trash, 'cuz they got money and they are crooked as a dogs hing leg, ok? Remember, Hillary's a Divider...Obama is Thee Uniterrrrrrrrr p.s. Your condition is treatable mick

Sugar, I hope my condition isn't treatable... I'm an ObamaMama. I'm taking a huge chance and actually believing what a politician says. I'm hoping against all evidence to the contrary that there is still one person of integrity somewhere in politics that will earn my trust...that will do what is needed to repair our democracy to some semblance of a recognizable form.

And YES... I had a huge hot flash. They're kind of fun, actually. Rather like holding onto a 4th of July sparkler too long because you're loving the pretty colors.

I meant what I stated. We Dems have to unite.

Wonder what she could have accomplished with that $11+ million if she had put it into AIDS research or buying shoes for school kids or presritions drugs for the elderly.
What a waste... and litterally nothing to show for it. Except more and more creditors wanting to be paid.

I just hope her creditors are not holding their breath for payment. This gal is not worried about paying her debts, as ever one owes her and should be proud she chose them to screw over.

She has run her campaign into near bankruptcy and this is the person we should trust to get us out of a financial crisis? She has also said she doesn't listen to "economists" especially when it comes to things like, uh the economy and taxes on things like gas? What an unbelievably stupid person she is. Or at least she thinks Americans are...

I wonder how many of her hard working people--her base--she is putting out of business, or forcing to struggle even harder, so she can continue her fight for the nomination; while not paying for their goods and services these last months.

Hey, Hillary -- how's this for a "spiral landing"? And that's not "sniper fire" -- it's your creditors calling.

When considering the blantently obvious math of Hillary's no-win campaign, I have to wonder if this truly self-absorbed and delusional woman has ever stopped indulging her over-sized ego long enough to consider the kind of provocative change and powerful impact her newly borrowed millions could have on the truly needy -if she pulled out of the race and spent her abundant funds where it really mattered? In other words, think of all the homeless that could be housed, the starving who could be fed, the gas tanks filled, etc, etc etc...

Yet...instead, she chooses to spend her millions to stay in a race she can't possibly legitimently win -at least not without lying, cheating, and/or changing all the rules along the way. So...I wonder: where are this woman's ethics? (Oh that's right, integrity and decency were simply the flashy costumes she wore in order to get her through the door)

Hillary, it's not too late to step away from the dark side and do something truly significant with that 6.4 million dollars!

The money is a loan. She will refill her coffers with money from small donors, and she and Bill will peddle whatever influence they have to raise the money. I think she's charging the campaign interest as well. What fool would give money to that campaign? I almost feel sorry for her donors. Almost.

Imagine how hard this election will be for McCain?

God, Thank you, I'm loving this.

Here's the financial infor from OPenSecret.org:

Candidates
Candidate Obama, Barack
Home State IL
Mar'08 Raised $41,144,348
Mar'08 Spent $28,903,437
Total Raised $234,745,081
Total Spent $183,671,081
Cash on Hand $51,073,999
Debts $662,784

Candidate Clinton, Hillary
Home State NY
Mar'08 Raised $20,107,968
Mar'08 Spent $21,548,862
Total Raised $189,097,053
Total Spent $157,384,855
Cash on Hand $31,712,197
Debts $15,321,562

Republican Candidates
Candidate McCain, John
Home State AZ
Mar'08 Raised $12,037,287
Mar'08 Spent $8,454,168
Total Raised $76,691,826
Total Spent $65,112,112
Cash on Hand $11,579,713
Debts $707,041

Now, pay attention to the fact that McCain, is unopposed and should be able to get tons of money from Republicans yet he's obtained a fraction of what the Democrats have.

Then look at which candidates can handle money and which ones can't.
