Barack Obama's website is reporting that the campaign reached 1.5 million donors last night, just in time for the Indiana and North Carolina primary. The campaign has not yet publicized the milestone, though it is mentioned in their blog.

From the Obama blog:

On the eve of the Indiana and North Carolina primaries, we reached another incredible landmark: the 1,500,000th person made a donation to this campaign.

This has been an incredible journey so far. Along the way, we've heard from countless supporters who had never donated to a campaign before now, and inspiring stories of people who have challenged themselves to donate, to organize, to canvass and call to help build this movement.

I predicted victory for Obama the day he kicked off his campaign here in Springfield. Not just in the primary, where he was widely seen as a longshot, but all the way to the White House. The reason I was so confident way back then was because of his charisma, his organizing skills and, most of all, his uncanny ability to jujitsu Rovian attacks as demontrated in the Senatorial primary he had won in '04.

So far, so good.

I gave Jerry Brown's insurgent campaign $100.00 back in the old days before the Internet. It's been sweet to donate month after month to Obama in increments of $25, $30 and $50, getting hats, t-shirts and posters that will be mementos I'll treasure for a lifetime.

I'm really curious to see Obama's fundraising results for April. I gave a donation on the PA primary evening and I'd like to see how much he trounced Clinton by for the month.

Congratulations and THANK YOU to all of us who have taken ownership of this campaign in a way that has NEVER before been seen in political history!

We have made it clear to the politicians, corporations and lobbyists alike that the REAL power is with an electorate that is engaged and involved.

Keep up the good work!

My husband and I donate as often as we can, and if you're an Obama supporter and don't have anything to "give" can you at give a prayer? Those work too, especially in conjunction with everything else. Remember , prayer changes things and CHANGE is what Senator Obama is all about!

Thanks!

Obama will do just fine in November!

I too am one of the 1.5 million who has donated to Obama's campaign and plan on making another contribution today. That will be my third donation. I was never registered to vote until four years ago and have never donated to a campaign before. I have never been so inspired by a candidate before and believe Obama is someone who can bring much needed change to our country. By the way, I am a white woman in my forties from a small midwestern town.

Welcome to the world of politics! Glad you have been inspired to become active. I am also an Obama supporter and one of the reasons I support him is that people who have never been involved have seen something that has made them to decide to get involved. I've been active in politics all my life and love it when people find something to believe it. Just don't let some of the folks here get to you.

Well just wonderful for you to be inspired finally in your life but don't blame me when he losses to John Mccain. What kind of change the kind like bush everyone was inspired by him also but i guess you didn't care about your country then since you've never voted before.I believe he is just not ready to be comancer and chief, he is a great speaker but substance is lacking and as much as we all hate the washington ways you have to play the game to some point all things can't be changed over night and there could be a shut down if nothing is done mark my words!! If Hillary isn't elected than i can only pray and look forward to 2012

I wasn't inspired by Bush, and I was a Republican back in 2000. In fact, I voted for Gore back then because I just couldn't bring myself to vote for a stupid guy.

So your premise is wrong. As for Obama losing to McCain, I think you've got that confused - here's a little experiment for you. Ask a Republican who they're prefer to vote for, Clinton or Obama. Clinton will win exactly 0 votes from Republicans, and why? Because they hate her. Go on - ask one.

Obama is the only path out of this hole our "comancer and chief' has dug us into.

You definitely appear to be in the target market for Hillary -- a great representative of her 'voter-type'.

I hope that when Obama is on the ticket versus McCain that you will make the right choice and show that you care about your country.

I've donated a total of $200 to his campaign over the last several months. I donate more every time Hillary comes out with a doozy of a lie. Wish I could do more.

That's why I got my Obama gear about a year ago. Now I wish I had stocked up more so I could sell them on ebay (and donate most of the profits of course!)

I think the number should be even bigger. It would be safe to say 1,500,000 households have contributed. We have 3 people in our household and donated many times but used just one name and credit card.

Same here. My husband and I always donate under the same credit card.

I hope that the campaign is shouting this to every Super Delegate. This kind of financial base translates into more seats in Congress and more Democrats elected right down the ballot in every state in the nation.

I'm one of those 1.5 MIL. :D

I feel proud to be included in that number. I feel like we are making history and you too can become a part by visiting:

You can also help by donating your time, go to your local county clerk's office and get a stack of voter cards and set up in front of your local Wal-mart, or you can go door to door. I went to the local college by MYSELF and went from dorm to dorm to garner support for the Senator from Illinois. I am not an extrovert but I know that it only takes one VOICE to start a movement.

I find giving Obama $100 is a great way to neutralize my anger at Hillary and the unpatriotic Rush Limbaugh.

I'll keep doing it until I hit the legal limit.

This is verra cool. I'm also one of the 1.5 million and proudly say I know of 5 or 6 first-timers that jumped in with a matching contribution since PA. I'm also a life-long Dem who never gave a dime to a candidate until Obama. I'm so glad he decided to run!

I have donated twice monthly to the Obama campaign and other democratic candidates throughout the nation since December of 2007. Although, I have always been a democrat, I have never contributed to a campaign and will stop immediately if Obama is not the nominee and will convert to an independent.

I've been donating every month since Iowa. Next month, I'm going to double up and start giving to the DNC. In case you haven't heard...they don't have any money (everyone has been donating to the candidates) and the RNC in running circles around them as far a fundraising so they are not able to work on behalf of Obama as much as the RNC can for McCain.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:47 PM on 05/06/2008

I will donate to the DNC, when Obama gets the nomination. Until then, I am very happy to continue to donate to Obama's campaign.

I donated after his response to the Rev. Wright onslaught. The continual news coverage and scrutiny made me completely ill. I had to put my money where my mouth is.

I had never donated before, but then again, in the past, I've always tried to vote for the lesser of two evils. This is the first time I've actually believed in a candidate.

It's too important to just talk the talk and not walk the walk.......

DON'T YOU LOVE THE FACT THAT THE MSM KEEPS SAYING "WHY HE CAN'T PUT HER AWAY". IT SUCH BS. HE HAS. SHE WAS IN INEVITABLE NOMINEE. SHE HAD NO PLAN AFTER FEB 5. NOT TO BRING RACE INTO IT BUT SHE NEVER THOUGHT THIS YOUNG BLACK UPSTART COULD MAKE HER BREAK A SWEAT. SHE THOUGHT PEOPLE WOULD NOT VOTE FOR HIM. SHE HAD NO IDEA HOW HUNGRY THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WERE FOR CHANGE. THIS DESIRE HAS SUPRISED OBAMA ALSO AS HE HAS STATED. THE MSM KEEPS ASKING WHY SUPERS KEEP MOVING TO HIM EVEN WHEN HE IS IN TROUBLE. SIMPLE. THE DNC DOES NOT DON'T WANT HILLARY UNLESS THEIR IS NO OTHER WAY

This is 100% correct, nobody talks about it though. Everyone acts like it was somehow handed to Obama from the start. Hillary makes me sick
