The king of the pundits, Mark Halperin, drops a tantalizing hint about General Wes Clark, a strong Clinton supporter and fellow Arkansan:

"The biggest question: Will any of her supporters (including Wes Clark) say publicly or privately she should quit?"

We like General Clark here at AMERICAblog, and have a bit of a history with him. In fact, we've heard that Clark did call Hillary tonight, telling her it's time to quit. Perhaps the general's most dangerous mission to date.

Obama / Richards. Strong ticket on a whole variety of levels. Gets the Hispanics in Florida, Texas and Cali, he brings real foreign policy expertise, and he is a likable and appealing person.

Clarke sold out on Iran, and I no longer trust him. He "adjusted" his views to fit Hillarys specific brand of "sold out" foreign policy rhetoric.

An Obama-Clark ticket would be a good draw for Hillary supporters, methinks.

Good for you, Wes. If she doesn't listen, don't give up----keep calling 'til she does.

"we've heard that Clark did call Hillary tonight, telling her it's time to quit. Perhaps the general's most dangerous mission to date." Wonderful! Love that comment. I agree with kellygrrrl..Gen. Clark would be an asset in an Obama administration..

he is the ultimate in Loyalty
He will not defect until she suspends her campaign.
But when she does, Gen Clark will be a great advocate for Obama

I'm beginning to feel a great sense of HOPE at the bright future of this nation

Wesley is a short little toad isn't he? But then so was Napoleon

so is John McCane.

Clark should stage a junta in the Clinton campaign, and negotiate an honorable peace with the DNC. If that means the Clintons must leave the country, so be it. In fact, I'll pay the airfare.

I for one am truly looking forward to General Clark coming aboard

I hold this man in high regard, and he will be an asset to the Obama Admin

Wes better watch out, much to Bill's surprise, Annie Oakley can shoot

Thank you Mr. Clark. Your leadership in recognizing the importance of fully backing the Democratic Party primary winner is key. We now need to focus on defeating the Republican candidate, and for that to successfully transpire, we need to eliminate the contention and divisiveness that an unrealistic and prolonged Clinton debacle would bring.

Please consider urging others within your political sphere, who have not yet come to grip with the reality of the campaign, to fully back Senator Obama. We need to heal and turn this country around. That goal is not readily attainable with the continued attack and smear tactics that the Clinton campaign has depended upon almost exclusively to date.

Thanks again.

Clark denies the story; however does it really matter. McGovern and others understand what happened. The train left the station and Hillary is not on it. Looks like Clarke is still in sitting at the station as well.

I think Clark would be a great choice for Sec of Def, I'd like to see Bill Richardson as VP or Sec of State. I don't know what Sen O is going to do, but I truly believes those who supported him from the beginning and those who got behind him when the going got tough.....(.Richardson, Casey) and all the lady Govs should be rewarded. EDWARDS gets NOTHING. Nothing from nothing leaves NOTHING and that's what he did for Sen O........NOTHING.

Dear Ann1

For the Love of GOD --What is the Gdamn fascination with Bill Richardson as VP. He cannot - help the ticket. He is flaky and a loose cannon. Its very hard for me to take him seriously. The Hispanic vote is going to be strong for the Democrats -- especially after the Republicans sponsored the horrible immigration bill of 2006. Get over the Bill Richardson -BS please!!!

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 03:13 PM on 05/07/2008

I kind of like Bill Richardson for VP. He was strong for withdrawal from Iraq and leaving no permanent bases behind. He is a seasoned diplomat, and he has served in the cabinet.

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 08:33 PM on 05/07/2008

james, no matter whom he selects for VP, Obama will lose in November, sad reality, but a reality after all.

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 04:43 PM on 05/07/2008

Oscarp, now that this thing is over watch your man McOld fade in the polls over the next few weeks. The ground game of both candidates is still in place in all 50 states and far more organized than the Republicans. Can you smell a landslide? Come on out of the Republican cave out into the light, remember that the Dems accept everyone in our party, even recovering Republicans like you . Remember when Ariana was in the R column? She saw the light and so should you.

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:53 PM on 05/07/2008

Oscarp,

There are enough decent people in this country to change the reality that you speak of with such pride. We WILL take back OUR country from the evil Republicans who are getting our soldiers KILLED each day, just so THEY will feel safe but not really be safe. We WILL take back our country from the GREEDY Republicans whoclaim to love America but what they really love is American's MONEY! We WILL take back our country because we do not have a choice, our kids and grandkids are depending on us! So man up, we have work to do and our country to save. YES WE CAN!

OBAMA 08!

I couldn't agree more. I think Richardson would be a liability.

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 03:53 PM on 05/07/2008

Why not Pelosi?

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 04:20 PM on 05/07/2008

No, not Pelosi. She's as divisive as Hillary Clinton. I like Pelosi, despite her decision to "take impeachment off the table," but she would drive away independents and moderate Republicans. Besides, she's from California, a state that Obama should win anyway. How about McCaskill of Missouri if he wants a non-Hillary woman? Or, if he wants someone to match McCain's military creds, how about Wesley Clark himself?

John and Elizabeth Edwards have spent their time working behind the scenes to strengthen the Democratic party. Before mindlessly bashing him, you might want to familiarize yourself with his MoveOn work.

I wouldn't go so far as to say Obama would hurt a Hillary ticket (Obama should pick Webb), but it IS all about the Electoral College.

Per state-by-state polls-of-polls -- the ONLY game that matters:

Hillary beats McCain soundly.

Obama is in but a dead heat.
http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2008/Obama/Maps/May07.html

Note that Indiana is a THREE-way dead heat.
Note that North Carolina DOESN'T MATTER; McCain beats both.
Note that Florida DOES matter -- 27 EC votes for Hillary over McCain, or McCain over Obama.

Of course, this could all change twice by dinnertime, or after the next round of polls recognizing yesterday's action...

Thanks for sharing the link to the electoral college map. I come away feeling good, either way. AZ is only weakly supporting McCain against Obama! Rasmussen has McCain and Obama tied in NC (I'm not sure why NC isn't barely R in that race). After the Dems pick a nominee, and attack McCain, their numbers will only go up. Webb would be good for Obama in NC and VA, maybe even SC.

Obama should pick Sebelius.

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:58 PM on 05/07/2008

why?

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 03:00 PM on 05/07/2008

As a woman from a military family, I would love it if Gen. Clark endorsed Obama. The folks in my family were rooting for him the last time around.

if that picture of Wesley and Hillary was taken right after he told her to quit....i can imagine what she was telling him on his ear!! Perhaps something like ...go and **** yourself?

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:21 PM on 05/07/2008

Hey, Wes -- Please make your point publicly. And thank you for your noble service to this Country. And don't plan on staying friends with the Clintons.

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:15 PM on 05/07/2008

It's got to be tough for Clark to do this. He's from Arkansas and worked for the Clintons. He's known them very well. I think strategically, Bill Richardson would be perfect as Obama's V.P. for his governing and foreign policy experience as well as the ability to carry New Mexico, but Clark would not be a bad choice at all.

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:13 PM on 05/07/2008

I agree it's got to be tough. He is one of the most loyal human beings I've ever known. And Bill was his commander-in-chief. They go WAY back.

But Hillary's tactics and the positions she has taken in the last few weeks are so contrary to Clark's! And it must have been a bit difficult for him to watch her parading around with Shelton in North Carolina.

I fear the loyalty only extended in one direction.

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:42 PM on 05/07/2008

Clark or Webb would be good choices. I think it'll be crucial to have an old military hand with serious experience on board to help voters feel comfortable.

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:07 PM on 05/07/2008

I like Jim Webb for VP for Obama but I'll be happy with anybody as long as it's not Madame Hillary. Talk about divisive; geez. Superdelegates, let's come out today for Obama. Have some courage already. He will win the Presidency and Madame Hillary will still be campaigning. It's ridiculous.
