MSNBC host Chris Matthews took to the airwaves Thursday night with a new 'do. The normally bleach blond Matthews, host of "Hardball," now has noticeably darker hair. It's more of a russet/rusty coloration and is a bit shorter.

Below are 4 screengrabs. The first two are from Tuesday night, the second two are from today's - Thursday's - "Hardball." They are taken from the same television and same DVR machine onto the same computer.

Pick an adjective you would use to describe the color and leave it in the comments.

Hey, the guy wants to be a Senator! Everyone knows that voters like younger candidates better than older ones!

He wants to look young and virile instead of droopy and d**kless.

Too bad it didn't work.

Not only did he sport a new hair color, the makeup artist got it all wrong with his one eyebrow - just a stroke of the pencil - how artificial looking. When does all this become unimportant??

Easy. It's Redacted Reddish Republican Revolting Rant-colored.

When women of a certain age choose that color, it's known as "menopause red."
He's probably on the blue pills already, too.

his hair is as credible as his reporting

He wants to look more like his big brother Russert. ;)
But he looks younger with it darker. The blond was almost a white on TV which adds years.

It's news about as much as Katie Couric and Miley Syrus are news. I wish HuffPo would stick to news and politics and leave all the other stuff alone.

Come on. I'm a bit pissed Mathews is playing monkey business with the dem race sighting he wants this to go on and on, but to knock personal appearance is in poor taste. So what he colored his hair, most people on TV do and a great many men and women do outside of media do as well.

This is a fast was for the Huffington Post to start loosing credibility. Please remove the story.

You can't say losing credibility if its already lost. Someone there has lost their sense of what is newsworthy. Now the site seems to cater to the most sophomoric of the comment writers. I could see a "rant and rave" section, but keep the news reporting front and center....and as pure as possible.

Is this why anyone reads Huffpost? And why pick on Matthews when most of the cable news talking heads over 40 do exactly the same thing? (They do if they want to keep their jobs.) Or is Huffpost now going to be keeping score on the irrelevant grooming habits on all our fave on-air talent? If so, get ready for some amazing cellulite sunbathing photos of our Sunday morning talkshow hosts.

Get a grip, people...it's a career move. Television suits throw people under the bus over appearance all the time. "Old" and "Grey" doesn't sell ad dollars. Youth sells. We all want to forget that we're going to get old and gray one day...and probably look a whole lot worse than Matthews or Dobbs. So we make nasty comments about them, comments that we wouldn't want any of them to say about our Mother, or our Father...and definitely not about US!

That's why they dye their hair, whiten their teeth, get botox injections, and go on crash diets. They're just trying to keep their job.

I don't know. Blitzer's hair is pretty gray. I think MSNBC is trying to appeal to its "new" demo, and Matthews got caught looking too—somthing, not sure what. I actually think he looks better in the before pictures.
