Spotted: NBC Universal President & CEO Jeff Zucker leaving the Upper East Side apartment of his once — and future? — network star, Katie Couric. According to Page Six, Zucker was seen "climbing out of his black SUV" in front of Couric's apartment, leading to speculation that Couric may be returning to NBC. Insiders dismissed the rumors, claiming Zucker visited his longtime friend to pick up a Mother's Day gift Couric had bought for him to give his wife, Caryn.

The report of a Zucker-Couric meeting coincides with an interview in the Financial Times, published today, in which Zucker said he would welcome Couric back to NBC:

Katie remains one of the most talented journalists of her generation and somebody who would be an asset to whatever news division, whatever organisation she worked in. So we would always welcome somebody of Katie's ability and stature, but that's not . . . on the cards any time in the near future.

Couric's future has been speculated about ever since it was reported that she will leave CBS well before her contract expires.

If Katie Couric and Rachel Ray are in the same room at the same time, does the universe implode?

Sorry,, Katie, but you (and most other people) can't go back. She can't be the cute, perky Katie of the past. It just doesn't work.

Hmmm, wonder why Zucker was doing in Couric's apartment?

Maybe Katie should just retire. I'm quite sure she has enough $$$ that she'd never have to work again.

Why would anyone want to hire this thing, she is a disaster, and why is valuable space wasted
on discussing this kind of dribble?

Then why did you read it in the first place?

If I was Katie Couric, I would go to NBC and cry and beg for my old job back.

Its the saddest thing in the world that people aren't ready for a woman to anchor the nightly news... but they aren't.

Maybe they have a "thing" going?

I fear that she'll not only be blamed for CBS's demise-see Rather and friends-but for that of over-the-air news all together.

Maybe she'd be better off on cable.

As Ricky Ricardo would say, " He's got a lot of "splaining to do," to his wife. Picking up a mother's day card for HER-- now that is LAME.

Gosh, was Jeff Zucker running off to join Greenpeace in order to impress Katie?

Ah, Jeff in a Boston Whaler in high seas. "Tell Katie, I..............."

God, Katie is such a miserable person, you can't give her away. She shouldn't really worry, they always need writers for the scandal papers at the supermarket.

This is how rumors get started. They were probably just doing the "big nasty."

Katie is a beautiful, intelligent lady. I wish she would come back to The Today Show, it hasn't been the same since she left. Zucker has been friends with her since the days he produced the Today Show. She was also instrumental in getting him treatment when he had colon cancer.
