AMERICAN MEDIA ANNOUNCES BONNIE FULLER TO STEP DOWN AS EVP AND CHIEF EDITORIAL DIRECTOR; TO SERVE AS EDITOR-AT-LARGE OF STAR MAGAZINE AND CONSULTANT TO COMPANY

NEW YORK, MAY 13, 2008 - American Media, Inc. (AMI) today announced that Bonnie Fuller, who has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Editorial Director since July 2003, will resign from those positions as of May 14, 2008. Going forward, Ms. Fuller will serve as editor-at-large of AMI's Star magazine, and also will act as a consultant to the company's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer David J. Pecker.

"I am proud of the significant achievements of American Media's celebrity and fitness brands over the past five years, and I am now ready for a new adventure," said Ms. Fuller. "The transformation of Star from a tabloid into a glossy magazine was unprecedented and has proven to be a great success. I am also proud of the redesigns of several other titles over the past few years. I have been fortunate to work with an exceptional group of talented editors and publishers, and am thrilled to continue my involvement with AMI through my role as editor-at-large at Star and consultant to David Pecker."

"Bonnie Fuller has been an important part of a team that has overseen a range of extremely successful editorial initiatives over the past five years," said Mr. Pecker. "I am pleased that we will continue to benefit from her journalistic contributions through her role as editor-at-large at Star and a consultant to the company."

Simply giving The Star a glossy cover does not transform it from being another supermarket rag.

She got fired! And yes, I think it's because of the UCLA Medical Center scandal. Also, the Star and Enquirer have had more lawsuits filed against them by celebrities since Bonnie was hired. They're calling her "editor-at-large," a totally meaningless title. I also doubt if she will be "advising" them in any capacity from now on.
And to think they were paying her $2 million a year!

Are you joking? You think they suddenly decided they aren't going to invade the privacy of celebrities anymore because of what happened at UCLA? Many tabloids were using the information from UCLA including TMZ - this has nothing to do with that. The reality is the Bonnie has been paid millions to do nothing for a long time apparently because David Pecker is so incompetant that he decided it would look bad if they canceled her contract because people would think the company doesn't have money - he must have gotten his degree from the George Bush School of Business. I do think it's ironic that last week when people confronted her about the rumors she said they were horrible, mean people because her mother had just died and they weren't respecting her privacy - but of course Bonnie didn't have any problem writing here that Heath Ledger killed himself before the body was even in the morgue so apparently Bonnie doesn't realize what a hypocrite she is.

But "editor-at-large" is the perfect job for Bonnie - they already have an "editor-at-large" who tells everyone she is paid over six figures a year although the only publicity she cares about is her own and magazine sales have declined since she was hired there. The person who needs to be fired is David Pecker - he needs to do something he can handle like run a high school newspaper or something.
