LeBron James gave it to his mother Monday night during a game against the Boston Celtics. It appears he told her to "Sit yo *$*% down." Watch the video below - James' mother jumps up and tries to get between her son and a bunch of Boston Celtics when they fall into the crowd. Underneath the video is a longer description of what happened from USA Today.

Ms. James came roaring into the action in the second quarter when her son was wrapped up on a breakaway dunk attempt by Paul Pierce.

Kevin Garnett tried to calm her down, but it was LeBron who got the job done.

"I told her to sit down, in some language I shouldn't have used," James said. "Thank God today wasn't Mother's Day. All I could think about is her. ... I know my mother. It's fine, we're good."

His mom just simply reacted out of fear. In the Washington series and now Boston, SEVEN FLARGRANT FOULS commited on Lebron. The fans reacted also.

Gloria is tough! She raised him and he was twice her size by the age of 12.

Maybe he was embarrassed that she was coming to his rescue?

Well, I used to date a basketball player in colllege and he used to get pretty banged up. His mother was a fire cracker but she would never get up and get into anyone's face. His father was very passionate as well but he let them work it out on the floor.I have seen Lebron James' mother "cut a fool" on the side lines before. She is always too much. Lebron was cool and he is already one of the youngest in the league. He didn't need her out there painting him to be a mama's boy. I don't know. I have a son and when he plays sports, I have to control my enotions and let him work it out with his team and their opponents. it's not my game so everytime, unless he is is danger, I'm gonna sit my AZZ down and let him be a man!

Look those may have been harsh words but you have to understand if she got involved in the altercation, she could get hurt, and BANNED completely from the arena. She can also get arrested, she does not get a free pass because she is Lebron's mom. Her getting involved was stupid, what if she hit someone and they shoved her, she is putting her son in a awful position. Lebron is a grown man and does not need his mom on the court fighting his battles.

Lets no forget the fight that went into the stand between Indiana and Detroit. That gave the whole sport a black eye. If that wasnt Lebron's mom the cop probably would have got involved and escorted her out the building at the least. She should know better

If my mother jumped into the mix like that, they would throw her out of the area, which is exactly what they should have done here. That woman is there to watch the game, not participate.

She just happened to be standing there. It's not like she charged onto the court from the 20th row. He was totally out of line, and I'm shocked that he would use such language for his own mom, and then treat Paul Pierce like they're still best buds.

By the way, is that Donny Osmond dodging out of the way there at about 0:48 in the video?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:56 AM on 05/14/2008

It think is was more embarrassment than concern. I can't even watch the video. I'm embarrassed for him talking to his Mom that way!

Gloria has been a pain in Lebron's ass ever since he was a junior in HS.

He more than likely took one upside the head when they came face to face after the game. One thing I do know. My black female friends take no guff from their kids. Smack 'em, Mom!!!

Have you ever said something in the moment of intense competition that you regret. No grown man wants their momma defending them by pushing around 7 foot 300 pound men. "Sit yo' ass down"; if my mom had said that to me as I got up to do something stupid it would be expected. There's no difference here.

What? I'd have told my mom to do the same thing. Mom's get over-excited (about anything) when their children are involved, but when their children are professional athletes (let alone adults), they need to know that they're not needed for any kind of fight anymore.

LeBron is one of the most genuine MEN in the NBA. He has great moral character and I'm sure his ma' knew she'd done something she shouldn't have.

And really, in the midst of a big flare-up on the court, what he said was pretty mild and controlled. I probably would have thrown a few more expletives her way.

It's not like he hit her or anything.

Hi mom was trying to protect him, so you can't fault her, bu tshe's also interferring in his profession and livelihood which is inappropriate. It would be like the mother of a lawyer standing up and yelling objection at trial. Add to that the adrenaline and physical nature of the game, and you can't fault Lebron. He's 23 years old competing in what may as well be a gladiator arena. He plays with such intensity, it would be difficult to turn off.

I think think this really goes to show the pressure and scrutiny these guys are under. They make millions to play a game, but we treat their actions with such seriousness that they are forced to be intense and treat their gameplay with undo seriousness. Add to that the scrutiny of familial relationships and interactions that we have no intimate understanding of and you get half of the ignorant and hypocritical comments that have filled this page. I have no doubt that LeBron and his mom are still on good terms, and no doubt that they BOTH apologized afterwards. This is a private issue played out in a public manner.

And at the end of the day...who gives a shit?

What a lot of women don't get, including my own mother and my ex girlfriends, is that most men are wired to figure things out on their own and will ask for specific help when they feel it's necessary.
I would have ordered my ma to return to her seat angrily as well, but not like that.

Hee-hee-hee. Love it. It's a glorious side of black culture that many other cultures will never understand, where we're so comfortable with words that we can say 'sit yo' azz down', and it's love, not abuse.

He was high in adrenaline. He probably meant to say: "Mom, please, for your own safety, stay away from these big guys." People yell. Isn't that so Bill O'Reilly?

My mom would of whooped my ass up and down the court if I talked like that too her. I've played sports adn was in teh Army and as mad as I've gotten, I never cursed at my mom. Sometimes, Lebron makes me sick. I am loving how Pierce and Garnett kept their cool.

KG is a class act all the way!!!

LOL....my Mom threatened to "cut off my arm and beat me to death with the bloody end", just for an eyeroll. Heaven help me if I had ever cursed at her!!!

But his mom shouldn't have been on the court. It could have caused a fine or a violation for his team.

Well another oneof my prematurely celebrated heros....bites the dust.. He ain't Kobe (not crazy about Kobe personally, but respect his talent and consistency)....and he SURE AS HELL...ain't Michael.

The playoffs are a litmus test. It is therein....we see who's got it....and who aint.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:13 AM on 05/14/2008

He's very close in talent to Kobe and MJ. He'll be 'there' in a year or 3. Believe it.

LeBron has it.

Why he said what he did? I know this sounds like a cop out for LJ but...........if you've never played competitive sports, much less the NBA (professional) playoffs, you're not going to understand.

Testosterone (and a zillion other biochemical action/reactions) - learn it/'em. It wrecks havoc at inopportune times. :-) Ignore his comment. It's not 'him'. Really. "Heat of the moment" type thing. He's ok.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:52 AM on 05/14/2008

I admit I am estrogen saturated; I admit I do not even resemble Dennis in a dress. But I also know that both Kobe And MJ and all the other real superstars---INCLUDING RODMAN... in the league are/were very hard workers, deliberate, grounded and, even the the heat of bad calls from refs and the normal going off that is inevitable...do not do what James is doing.

I also hope you are right. Of course, I am a southpaw, so were I an NBA player I probably couldn't even GO right. lol

"Of course, I am a southpaw, so were I an NBA player I probably couldn't even GO right. "

That's funny! :-) But on this ONE point, LeBron just made a boo boo. Granted, a big boo boo, but just a heat of the moment boo boo. I think we'll find out he's good people (and loves his ma) ....... in the years to come.

Hate them damn 13 gazillion tattoo's (did I spell that right?)

Not a black/white thing, just can't stand 'em. In fact, white boys have disfigured themselves at the same (similar) alarming pace :-)

If Lebron could shoot he would be one of the great players of all time!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:58 PM on 05/13/2008

Your right, he can shoot that long distance three, but what he has to master is that mid range game. And it will come, think about what he has accomplished in 5 years playing with no help or all star beside him. Lebron is a beast on the court, and the best is yet to come.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:14 AM on 05/14/2008

He can shoot and shoot your lights out.

It'll only get better as time goes on. It almost always does.......Barring disastrous injury (always a concern).

Remember Kobe? Remember a zillion others (could go on and on and on)? The ONE thing that almost always improves, is their outside shot. Even at that, if his outside shot never improved (not all bad as it stands), LJ is 2nd / 3rd best in the NBA and will be for some time to come. He's a great, well rounded player. And that is an understatement.

Well, if my mom came to my workplace and yelled at my rival co-worker I'd tell her to butt out.

that idiot who fouled him should be kicked out of the game.

"that idiot who fouled him should be kicked out of the game."

Cute, KG (Kevin Garnett?) But, that was a minor type of intentional foul in this day and age. No biggy. No harm - no foul. Keep playing, although I agree in the future they SHOULD do away with this type of foul, starting DAY ONE of the new season. (key phrase - day one of new season) Do away with this - along with 2 other - really egregious fouls

1) jumping underneath a 'skying' dunk/layup/shot and get the charge call. Good god, this is stupidity beyond belief. The NBA HAS to get rid of this sh*t. Please?

2) The Flop - get rid of it. Punish the flopper

I definitely do agree that RULES should not be changed midseason.

Next season they can change the rules, not half-way through.

hmmm, what does that remind me of?
