Anne Heche Tells Court: I Can't Afford Child Support

Anne Heche says she can no longer afford to pay the nearly $15,000-a-month in child and spousal support because she's unemployed after the cancellation of Men In Trees.

"I am continuing to look for work, but I have no offers pending and the impending strike by the Screen Actors Guild reduces my prospects for work even further," Heche, 38, writes in court papers.

A judge Wednesday gave her a temporary break, saying she didn't have to pay her next support payment to her ex Coley Laffoon, 34, covering the month of July. But Superior Court Judge Gail Ruderman Feuer ordered the actress to provide updated income and expense information.

Interesting-what does a 6 year old child do with $15,000 a month? Put that in a retirement trust and that child will have more money than the mother on her best day. This child custody has really become quite the weapon for both sexes

Anne is an incredible actress. However along with her near genius acting comes that unlikable quality.
She seems unstable and that infuses her energetic performances to a cutting edge level most actresses
only dream of achieving. As for her personal life it sounds as volatile and complicated as the drama's
she's in.

Heche has joint custoy while she is in the United States, but when she is Canada where Men in Trees is filmed her ex-husband has custody because she is not allowed to take the child out of the U.S.

Now that she is permanently back in the U.S., she has joint custody again and should pay less for child support now that she will have her son with her more since she's no longer traveling regularly to Canada.

I love Anne, and I loved "Men In Trees" -- but who out there is very sympathetic? First off, if she makes $65,000.00 (OK, MADE, past tense) an episode of the TV show, why does she owe any mortgage at all on her house in Vancouver? Why not just buy a nice, decent clean comfortable home outright? But NOOOOOO, she had to buy a multi-million dollar castle and now she's up a creek because -- surprise! Her low rated TV show (which I loved, to be clear) is cancelled.

When Anne married Cooley, I read that he was from a very wealthy New England family. He was working as a camera man but the gossip was that she married HIM for his money.

Family Law and Child Protective Services probably help some people (who fit a bizzare set of assumptions regarding income, gender, and cost of living), but they hurt more people than they help in the process of being ignorant do-gooders.

Anne is unemployed right now because of the absolute nitwit executives at ABC. They meddled so much with Men In Trees to the point that it lost viewers. Men In Trees first aired on Friday evenings. They moved it to Thursdays. Then they changed the time of broadcast. Then they moved it to Wednesday nights. Then they had the show go on hiatus for 6 or so months. ABC absolutely ruined what could've very well have been a very popular show. Remember it was ABC/Disney who gave us the lie filled Path To 911. I watch ABC as little as possible, especially after that hit job of a debate with tiny George and "teachers making 200K a year" Charlie.

i'm curious to know why it would take 15k a month to satisfy the care and well being of a kid. what're using? armani diapers? bottles from tiffany? i'm thinking $3 grand a month would take care of a kid in a manner that far exceeds adequate.

At 3,000 a Month,that's still 36,000 a Year! How many families make that much a year have two or three kids! Child Care costs: How about 300 bucks a Month!
