NBC has issued a statement responding to the Bush administration's accusations of "selective editing" in its coverage of the "appeasement" issue:

STATEMENT FROM NBC NEWS

Richard Engel's interview with President Bush has been available, unedited, in its entirety, for the past day, on our website. Our reporting accurately reflects the interview. Just as the White House does not participate in the editorial process at the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal or USA Today, NBC News, as part of a free press in a free society, makes its own editorial decisions.

Richard Engel is one of the best reporters on air. This interview reinforces my view.

Nice. The Little Prince is not happy now that he's heading so swiftly toward his comeuppance. He's a teeny bit scared, I think. Good for NBC, for explaining the limits of his power. I bet he choked on his pretzels when he read that.

If only he would choke on his pretzels!

The original "choke on pretzels" story sounded pretty fishy, though. I think he had a stroke brought on by years of alcohol and drug abuse. Look at his face. The muscles on one side seem to be dragging.

I would think a stroke would only improve his....well, anything. Are there any brain cells left to kill?

The Bush Administration only complains of "selective editing" if it isn't in their best interest. If it's Fox News, though...no problem. It's all good if you're going to opt for being the propaganda wing of the White House, but if you cross them, you feel their fascist wrath.

That is precisely what fascism is. It's no longer outrageous or irrational to call this White House fascist. If they only take action on news that is critical of them, but give extensive access to news that is favorable, that is what fascists do. That is just a milder, friendlier version of what Kim Jong Ill does.

Thank you, NBC, for taking a stand for once that is right and is obviously protected by our Constitution.
