I'm pretty sure that Hillary's numbers include the $5 million she loaned her campaign in April. So that means she raised $15 million. I guess that puts a lie to her claim that she raised $10 in one night after PA. Otherwise she had a really bad month for raising money.

Why is it that so many people are ardent Hillary supporters, but they don't donate to her campaign? Could it be that there really are not that many Hillary supporters left?

The author also fails to mention that while Obambi raised 32 million, he spent 35 million on the same month: and still LOST PA, IN, WV and KY! LOL

Yep, racism is thicker than money...

Her supporters tend to be non-college-educated and older, and they probably don't have a lot of money to give. But more important, giving money to politicians isn't part of their behavior pattern of the past---they left THAT to the rich and the corporations (the way the Clintons have always raised money). And the Clintons have responded by favoring their corporate pals...how about that NAFTA thing....the thing that they promised to oppose, but pushed through congress first chance they got. And big healthcare corporations thanked Hillary for her failure by giving her more money than any other candidate (perhaps a downpayment on another failure?). Whatever it was, she took their money. The Clintons talk a good game about their loyalty to the little guy (to the point of cynically emulating the little-guy-speech in places like Appalachia), but when the chips are down, it is their corporate pals who get the gravy.

Obama supporters are certainly not rich, especially the college kids and young people just starting out, but they are more flexible in their habits and it isn't so far out for them to contribute. I think that is one reason that the corporate world was so afraid of Howard Dean...he found a way to finance his campaign that included them OUT, and made it clear that he wasn't in their pockets. They managed to destroy Dean's campaign and they will try to destroy Obama's.

As a proud, steady but modest contributor, I am so happy to see the continual stream of donors. All of these people see the potential in a President Barack Hussein Obama.

Good to hear! I've been donating to Obama every month since January, and will continue to do so until November. Like myself, the people are voting with their wallets and pocket books!
01:24 PM on 05/21/2008
Was there ever any other way to vote?

Obama's going to need more a month to compete with McCain and the corrupt RNC, which is where McCain is going to get all of his money. I'll give Obama another 25 bucks for May. Go Obama!

I am an Obama supporter. Early on in the primaries I believed (and still do) that either Clinton or Obama would make an excellent president. It’s interesting to me that in a year when the republican line-up was so patently underwhelming, that the democrats should put forward two such amazing people. This sharp, often bitter divide in the Democratic Party is actually proof that each candidate has some remarkable attributes that genuinely make him or her worth fighting for. Clinton and her supporters deserve respect. If Obama is nominated, a gracious and earnest invitation needs to be made by all of his supporters to her legion. We need each other in November. Maybe feelings are still too raw at the moment, but those of you who are vowing to never vote for Obama need to think about consequences, starting with these five: 1) Almost certain military conflict with Iran. 1) Continued Iraqi quagmire. 3) Bankruptcy (see one & two). 4) Continued disintegration of the America’s standing in the world 5) Appointment of right-wing Supreme Court justices that are no longer representative of and responsive to the people. This WILL be the reality of a McCain presidency.

200,000 new donors in April! How exciting.

Looking forward to knocking on voters doors again starting June 4th.

I'll be out there as well!!

I have NEVER been so excited about a campaign in my 60+ years!

Gma-you and me both! I am so ready to turn this country over to the younger generation. We all had such high hopes for our country & somehow got off track.

I refuse to let that happen again in my lifetime.

There is only one consistent argument from Hillary supporters: "Obama isn't electable in November"

When you ask them, citing that both candidates carry virtually identical policies - "If all Obama supporters were to have cast votes for Clinton in November, could she win?"

"In a LANDSLIDE!", they'll say.

"But Obama wouldn't win in a landslide?"

"No! He's not electable!".

Self-fulfilling prophecy. The Dem nominee only becomes unelectable if the Dems who claim that he's unelectable... don't elect him.

These same "ancient" people vote for the like of GWB not based of facts but pure uninformed gut feeling only to turn around and blame any other person that do not have the same "skin color" with them as the main cause of their problems. With mindsets like this, these people have only one direction to move---BACKWARDS.
They can go and vote for Fidel Castro for all I care.

Actually, it's $21 million, but that's not that much better. Of that she owes $9.5 million to vendors. That leaves $11.5 million she owes to herself and Mark Penn. Oh ho... there's something wrong here. Last I heard she owed herself $12 million and Mark Penn $5 million. If that was the case, that means she has paid herself back some of the money she loaned her campaign and may have paid Penn some of the money she owed him. So, she's paying herself and Penn and still stiffing the small business vendors who were stupid enough to trust her to pay her bills.

And this is the person some people want to run this country?
