ABC News:

Al Franken is a funny man, but Minnesota voters might not see the humor in a column that the former Saturday Night Live star -- and current candidate for the United States Senate -- wrote in Playboy magazine in 2000.

On Thursday, the Minnesota Republican Party released a letter, signed by six prominent GOP women, including a state senator and state representative, calling on Franken to apologize for his "demeaning and degrading" article.

GOPers don't know what a Satirist is. Maybe they think it might be like Craig, or that creep who was fondling Republican interns. They are a confused lot.

Poor GOP, they are reduced to this.

Franken is going to smash Coleman come November, the only reason his numbers aren't that great yet is that it's still primary season and Franken is running against another attractive DFL'er.

If Franken were running for office where I live, I think I would probably vote for him. What, he likes sex with adult consenting partners? No wonder the Republicans don't like him! To admit that you like sex is an unforgiveable sin, didn't you know?

Franken can defuse this easily in a dignified manner, becoming to a politician and not a comedian which he was at the time of this "article or stichk" Go Al go!!!!!

You must be really givin'm hell, Al, if they've got to do this.

I'm going to send you more money.

"While you may attempt to defend your writing as satire, we hardly find anything defensible about your finding humor in your desire to have sex with women [...] simply to give yourself a good time," -- Yes, shame on Franken for finding humor in his desire to have sex with women for the sake of a good time. I find it deplorable that he would satirize a pastime to which I devote much time and take very seriously. Having sex with women is serious business, except when it is actually business, in which case it is either an illegal activity or protected by freedom of speech.

If this is the best that the MN Republican Party can come up with, they must be in serious trouble. For them to focus on an obviously satirical piece written by Al Franken back in 2000 just goes to show how out of touch and sanctimonious Republicans can be. People are sick and tired of this judgmental crowd that loves to point fingers at others while, behind the curtains, they have been proven to be doing all sorts of bizarre things.

Franken had tax problems?

What about the Republicans and their tax problems?

Why is that the biased right wing media never presents both sides of an issue?

Franken is already done here in Minnesota, my guess is most people have at least 1 criteria for being a US Senator: PAY YOUR TAXES.

If you have the power to decide where our tax money goes, you should pay your taxes.

- Not paying worker's comp tax in NYC
- Not paying taxes in CA
- Tac on another 17 states to that

Nelson-Pallmyer is still running against Franken for the DFL endorsement. It's still *primary* season, once Franken takes it and starts running directly against Coleman, watch out.

Tax returns, satirical columns and now a piece written for the Playboy 8 years ago. The Republicans must be really afraid of Franken if they dig up that ridiculous stuff.

I would expect an incumbent to explain his economic plans for the future of Minnesota.
Or his plan for the environment.
Or his plan for health care.
Or his plan for traffic, tourism or whatever.

But not "I looked through my old Playboys and look what I found! Btw, I only bought the Playboy for the interviews and reports..."

I would expect a person that wants to be a Senator in Minnesota to pay his taxes like we all do . . .
