"Dirty Dancing" star Patrick Swayze, 55, made his first public appearance since announcing in March he is battling pancreatic cancer.

Swayze took time off from his grueling chemotherapy regimen to take in Friday night's NBA playoff game in Los Angeles between the Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs.

Sitting with his wife of 32 years, Lisa Niemi, Swayze watched as the Lakers won in a blowout, 101-71.

Although Swayze's usually ripped physique seems somewhat shrunken, he appears to be holding his own against the usually aggressive cancer that often kills within weeks.

Patrick is such a talented, kind and decent man! What has happened to him only reinforces my agnosticism! I wish him and his family all the best!

He is one of my favorite actors. So sad he is sick. I really wish him well and hope he gets better...even if it is against the odds.

Kinda looks like he's gone the toupee route.

My heart goes out to Patrick Swayze. But folks, when you cross the line into stardom, along with the giant paychecks for six weeks of work in movies. Along with all the treats and benefits that come from being one in seventeen million who become a star, also entails having people take your picture in public -- a lot. That's the law of the jungle. And yes there are times when this rule will seem especially distasteful I agree but there is a price for everything. And quite frankly if you asked most people if they'd be willing to sacrifice some of their privacy when out on the street due to cameras in exchange for hundreds of millions of dollars and an exciting lifestyle, most would readily say, "I'll take it." Again blessings to Patrick and his wife.

Sadly, that's not going to happen. Just pray that his remaining time is easy.

By the way - I don't like this kind of journalism and usually don't read it. But, when I opened the new trashy Huffington Post and it was in my face, I just had to make a comment about how disgusting it is that some people make their living this way.

Well, what goes around comes around..........

If Mr Swayze wanted his picture all over the media he would be seeeking them out. And to comment that "his usually ripped physique looks shrunken" is disgusting and sicke at best. The man is battling for his life for God's sake!!!

Oh STFU and get over it and get off of your soapbox

What I enjoy about Patrick is that, while he is known for being a sexy guy...he also shows a keen sense of humor about himself through some of his other, lesser known, roles. One of my favorite films is Donny Darko. Swayze portrayed the extremely sleazy villian in this film...and he nailed it.

This is a guy who knows how to lighten up and not take himself too seriously...and i mean that in a good way.

Yes, I do disagree with these photos on principle. I lost a friend, recently, to pancreatic cancer. Families need privacy and the knowledge that they are not in the fishbowl of the public gaze -- even celebrity families. In this way, they are no different from the rest of us.

I would like to also say that I think he looks very good, considering how harrowing the chemo process can be. Although the majority of us feel that this display is tasteless...it may actually give some home to people coping with cancer to see a celebrity out doing normal (even enjoyable) things while battling something so serious. I know this was not the reason the paparazzi snapped these images; however, there may be one small positive by-product if it gives a few people out there some hope.

Wish him well. If there is room for another Indy, there is room for another Dirty Dancing.

Why do they have to publish this, it was a private time for him, is nothing sacred?
He doesn't look as bad as I expected, as many cancer treatments lead to excessive
weight loss. I hope that it works well for him and I wish him the best in his fight.

They published these because they knew you would open this and scroll down... look in the mirror and you will see a customer of the paparazzi !

Why wouldn't all of you want Patrick to prove stem cell replacement cures this Pancreatic Cancer? I am writing to The White House.

Good Night. I mean it. Don't ask me why. Maybe because he reminds me of my brother.

If my brother had cancer i would save his life too, or try my best. The only other actor who makes me feel this way is Jeff Bridges, but last I heard he's just fine.

Good Night folks, and don't always take everything so personally.

Stem cells are inside of the bone marrow. They are inside of the bone. The can be replaced and life can live for years and years as if you had a new heart transplant. Unless the cancer is in the bones, I pray Patrick looks into this therapy.

Good Night, and I did not paint that picture and he needs Vitamin D and B and Calcium Magnesium and a barber.

Unfortunately there is ZERO evidence that any of these suggestions has any benefit to patients suffering from metastatic pancreas cancer like Mr Swayze...but why let little things like facts and evidence get in the way of you WANT to believe.

Yes, that's my point exactly fun2bfree. Sometimes when you want something badly enough you get it. Be careful what you wish for. As for facts and evidence, tell that to the successful patients who have survived their doctors sad message of six month's to live, who still are alive today years later - thanks to Cancer Research Centers of America.

I feel the opposite, I think it is time to blow cancer out of the "how horrible" box. We use the word in non-medical talk in a terrible way, the big pharma reaps huge profits, and the c word is a total bugaboo. Medicine doesn't know crap. I've watched several loved ones die and it was the doctors that killed them. We all have cancer cells, look it up. Time to stop blaming the victim.
