Before becoming executive counsel this year to Gov. Bobby Jindal, Alexandria lawyer Jimmy Faircloth was a key figure in a high-risk business venture that is sparking new controversy in a Louisiana Indian tribe still shaken after becoming the victim of a national scandal.

From 2005 to 2007, Faircloth advised the Coushatta Indians to invest $30 million in a formerly bankrupt Israeli technology firm called MainNet, which so far has shown no financial return for the tribe and is dependent on monthly installments of Coushatta cash. The company also hired Faircloth's brother, on the attorney's suggestion, after the tribe began investing.

Not in the running anyway, McCain, has already made his choice Charlie Crist of Florida.

Just in:

There is a heated debate going on within the Republican party. There is the faction that wants him (Jindal) on the "ticket" and the larger faction that wants him deported.

Look at his stance on the issues; he's totally right wing. He seems worse than Bush to me.

Jindal is a republican - so assuming he has ties to indicted or soon to be indicted lobbyists and power brokers is a given. That is the legacy of the Bush/Rove/McCain republican party. I love watching McCain try to distance himself from all these dirt-balls but I've got some bad news for him: if he gets rid of all his crooked advisors McCain will not have any left. Even his wife had investments in countries led by dictators.

ROBERT TRAVIS SCOTT:
It's not just his counsel who is connected to Abramhof; check contributors to Jindal and also to McCain.

Bobby Jindal ran for Governor of Lousisana on an ehtics reform campaign pitch. When it came time for the legislation to enforce it,suddenly it was alleged there wasnt enough money in the bil to eforce it!! Louisiana has millions and millions generated from gambling.Texas,(next to Louisiana, has no gambling. One of the less mentioned aspects of the investigation,is the Governor of Mississippi ,Haley Barbour.Haley Barbour,he and Abramoff were bestest friends and, earlier, both were TOP lobbyists on K street. Ralph Reed arn a secret smear campaign for Abramoff to keep another tribe from building a competing casino down the road from the Coushattas ,later revealed in the BIA hearings.

Looks like it's time for the new District Attorneys, about to be appointed by Barak Obama, to start an investigation. While Bush was president no one got investigated.

John McCain used information he had gathered during the Abramoff Scandal to blackmail the GOP into getting the nomination.

Had McCain not gotten the nomination Bush himself would be under investigation. Many conservatives are not happy with McCain for that reason alone. He has them by the gonads, literally and they cannot do anything about it except not vote for him.

Notice that not many members of the GOP are coming forward in defense of McCain? They want hom to lose so badly you can feel it through the TV Screen.

Instead of a guilt-by-association piece, someone should ask Jindal how he can belong to the party of Strom Thurmond. Has the GOP ever apologized or renounced Thurmond's racism? No. So why would any non-white person ever belong to such a party?

ummm, not to be rude, but many East Indians aren't exactly PC in their racial relations. Some will make Strom Thurmond look like Al Sharpton. Many are my friends, but they'll admit racism or colorism is a big part of their culture.

I've known East Indians that go to such lengths of racism by caste & subcaste & sect & culture & religion that it would make a KKK Grand Wizard's head spin.

More good news for the Republicians
KY-Sen: For those who missed it earlier, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is, according to Rasmussen, in serious danger of "getting Daschled".

Rasmussen has released a poll showing McConnell's Democratic opponent, Bruce Lunsford, beating Kentucky's senior Senator and the Republicans' dear Leader. And Lunsford doesn't enjoy a slim lead, either; he's ahead by five points, 49% to 44%

Non-Issue, McCain will win Kentucky by at least 25% points.

Everybody has been discussing the pattern of poverty in Kentucky,McConnell's home state-Does everyone realize his wife is Elaine Chao-Secretary of Labor-HELLO!-Kentucky is the 43 or 44 in income in the nation.Do you wonder why a Democrat has the lead? Hopefully this bodes well for another Democrat!

He has a lousy record in congress and hasn't done anything of importance here in Louisiana. He will probably be a one term governor, once we find a decent Dem to run against him.
