On the heels of the successful revival of the "Indiana Jones" franchise, Paramount has set in motion a fourth installment of "Beverly Hills Cop."

Eddie Murphy is attached to reprise his role as Detroit detective Axel Foley, and Brett Ratner is negotiating to direct.

Studio is aiming for a 2009 production start and a summer 2010 release.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura will produce. Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced the original "Beverly Hills Cop" trilogy with late partner Don Simpson, won't be actively involved in the new film.

!

Cop One was great! Really liked it.

Cop Two struggled to be good. Happy I waited for the CD.

Cop Three I watched on CD and mostly on fast forward.

Cop Four will require some great reviews before I will even take the chance.

Oh this movie is going to suck suck suckity suck.

I didn't realize Eddie Murphy's career was in this much of a flame-out to have him go back and dig up comedy graves.

How about giving us something NEW, Mr Murphy?

HEY. Beverly Hills Cop was a good movie. The sequels weren't so good, but the first was a blast.

I would absolutely love to revisit this, and have it done up right. With a fresh eye taking on an oldie, this could be funny as hell.

It's not surprising that Hollywood would produce such crap, what would be surprise me would be who in the world would shell out 8.50 plus concession and not to mention gas to watch it. I am sure this DVD will end up as a third world stocking stuffer at Christmas time.

America loves sequels.
Why do you think they voted for the Chimp twice?

OH give it a chance. The first one was really a lot of fun, the second one was pretty good, the third one pretty much sucked, so maybe after all these years they can do another one that is good.

I'll wait and see.

AND what is it about stars making movies again? So what if they were really big in the 80s and didn't do much in the 90's? They aren't allowed to make moves again?

Who today is as big a box office draw as these guys? Cuz all I'm hearing is crickets out there. And the few who do have some sort of draw really have no class.

I'm still trying to figure out the attraction of having male stars who have a perpetual 7 day beard, haven't combed their hair in months and look like a bath would scare the hell out of them. And let's not get into the Goodwill THROWAWAYS they wear in movies.

Knocked Up and Employee of the Month first come to mind but give me time and I'll have a nice long list of male stars who look like derelicts.

So I'll give this a shot and see how it does. The "critics" panned Indy and it was great fun.

Anyone remember the original reviews for Star Wars? I do and they HATED the movie.

Will he start filming AFTER Norbit 2? I see another Oscar nomination for Eddie....

What is it with all these has-been actors of the 80s coming back to the franchises that made them famous? Is this their way of retiring from acting? Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, Harrison Ford, and now Eddie Murphy. I guess when you've had a string of bombs, it's time to cash one big last paycheck and go back to the role that gave a hit movie. Who's left that we can dig up from the 80s?
