Obama As Boss

Congressional Quarterly:

Make no mistake about it. The decision rendered today by the Democratic National Committee's rules panel showed that Barack Obama has displaced Hillary Rodham Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, as boss of the party.

The DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee gave Obama exactly what he wanted - a firm decision on seating Florida and Michigan delegates. Even though Clinton wins a small net gain in nominating delegates, it is not enough to seriously boost her chances for the nomination.

This is precisely what has turned voters like me off from the Clinton campaign. This whole attitude of not just entitlement, but ownership. The Clintons have both acted as though the Democratic Party is their personal fiefdom, and we are all their serfs. The party belongs to no single person or family, whether it's the Kennedys or the Roosevelts, or even the Clintons. The Republicans will soon learn that their party will be much better off if they shed the Bushes.

Gloat all you want to Obama supporters. Your candidate has come out in front and I, for one, as an HRC supporter wil be placing my X right after Obama's name because I am a democrat and our goal is to take over the White House. Shame on all of you Obama supporters or Clinton supporters who said if their candidate wasn't the nominee they would vote for McLain or not at all. That is absolutely insane. Let's stand behind our nominee and hope American has gotten over it's "good ole boy" attitude to support this man come November. Is he a black man wanting to be president or a presidential candidate who happens to be black?

Obama has shown you can win with a good game plan and you don't have to tear down your opponent even when they are trying to tear you down. It will be interesting how many will start to follow this model. He has already changed the model. Hopes he takes all of his team with him.

What would it take for HP to become a source of cable-based news?

Is there a need for this?

The nominee is always the head of the Party from the moment he gets the nomination until election day, meaning, among other things, that he commands the Party's operations, fund raising and "get out the vote" apparatus. If he wins the election, he is the head of the party for the next four years, installing a crony or friend as titular Chair. If he loses, he steps aside shortly after the election. This is business as usual, so I'm not sure what all the fuss is about.

The fuss is about breaking the hold of a family used to imposing their will on the DP; it's about the DP leadership's integrity when dealing with the specious, self serving logic used to justify claims that were rejected by most Democrats, and it's about the triumph of new standard for politics as usual.

(posted previously but it didn't appear).

Ever try to explain the Rolling Stones to your grandmother? That's the Clintons problem. They are out of touch with time and place. The world has passed them by and they are totally stunned.

Why is it about "who's boss" rather than the principle of what was the right thing to do here? This is a compromise. Personally, I do not care if he's boss or not. I care about an outcome that's fair to all the folks who followed the rules as well as to the candidate who honestly is ahead.

A shift in paradigm has occurred, a shift in vision, a shift in the forces running the DP and the principles guiding that change,

Bill Clinton is the only Democrat since FDR to be elected to two terms and he did so by forging a 31 state electoral majority. He's been fair game for criticism, certainly, especially when we lost Congress and when he frittered away his political capital for a little blue dress action with Monica, but I don't get the dancing on his (perceived) political grave. When are folks out here going to understand that we're going to need every part of the party and every vote in November?

"When are folks out here going to understand that we're going to need every part of the party and every vote in November?"

When HRC recognizes his victory, supports his candidacy, participates in his campaign and asks her supports to do the same - a week from now.

I'm not surprised this has happened. Obama meets all the "criteria" for the Anti-Christ.

Great! The best thing about yesterday's DNC meeting (which was like watching paint dry) is that here in Washington we were under a tornado warning from about 11am thru 5pm. It rained cats and dogs. The wind was blowing very hard. All of this kept the HRC protest crowd low and the media attention focused within the actually meeting instead of the streets. LOLOLOLOL! This worked to the benefit of Obama and fair minded people who like established rules, but against HRC and the 'rule manipulators'. Again, I am LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!

Again, Obama fits the biblical description of the anti-Christ! Scary stuff.

I would be wonderful to see the last of the Clintons! Even though I'm in NY and it would seem that I wold be seeing more of her after she stops running for President and returns to her job (the one we are still paying her for) - but that really never happened before and I'm not holding my breath.

She's been running since she left the White House with Bill. NY was nothing to them but a stepping stone - she never really did very much for us (no new jobs - especially up here where we need them, no health care, she never answer any mail we sent her - not a good Senator, would have been a terrible President).

I hope someone challenges her for the nomination in NY next time - they might just win because we are all tired of them!

What Bill Clinton can not stand at this point is that,he actually expected more spechees of the kind he gets on his CAFTA speaking deal for which he gets paid $600,000 but had hillary become the President, then he was gonna get more and at higher fees. But now,he wont even get birthday slots.

People and no one should even try to explain to me that $600,000 was actually simple for him to go and read prepared remarks.

So what were you doing for your county beforehand. You had to wait around for someone to tell you to care. You had to wait around for someone to tell you to make a difference. What a loser. Only "gets it" when his team is winning. It's because of you that the US is in the sad state it's in, because obviously YOU DID NOT DO ENOUGH. Period and end of story. Now go cry over your spilled milk.
