"Simpsons" Voices Get A Raise - $400,000 An Episode

The "Simpsons" standoff is over.

After weeks of negotiations, the voice cast of Fox's long-running animated series over the weekend reached a new four-year deal with producing studio 20th Century Fox TV.

Under the new pact, the actors are said to get a significant salary bump to nearly $400,000 per episode.

The voice cast is set to begin work on the show Tuesday with a table read. The upcoming season of "The Simpsons" has been curtailed from 22 to 20 episodes by the contract negotiations.

When the actors get too greedy, the networks usually dump the show, even if it is still somewhat profitable. The have to continue making examples periodically to discourage other actors from doing the same.

Absolutely well-deserved, if not more. Dan, Hank and Harry belong in the Cartoon Voice Hall of Fame for the staggering variety of characters they have given life to, along with Mel Blanc, Daws Butler, Don Messick, Gary Owens, John Kricfalusi and Billy West.

I love The Simpsons. Even the reruns make me laugh out loud because you see and hear some things you missed the first time.

Union? Those guys are earning way more than union scale. They hit the jackpot, and I don't begrugdge them it, but meanwhile an extra million semi-failed actors think they can get rich in voiceovers. The reality is a great deal of the real voiceover work is nonunion or done as a session fee with no residuals.

I used to be die hard fan of Simpsons in 90s because the show used to be funny. Now the writers aim for Poke-Mon generation. Jokes are corny and plain stupid. Why even Fox keeps this show going is beyond me. They rest this show in piece.
