Iphone And Steve Jobs

Reuters:

SAN FRANCISCO, June 3 (Reuters) - June has arrived and for Apple Inc (AAPL.O: Quote, Profile , Research) fans and investors that means just one thing -- a new iPhone.

The encore to the original iPhone, which launched nearly a year ago amid unprecedented industry buzz, is widely expected to be the main attraction when Chief Executive Steve Jobs takes the stage at Apple's developers' conference next Monday.

The new iPhone will be accompanied by support for corporate e-mail and a slate of new programs that could help boost sales of the devices, which sport a touch-sensitive screen, wireless Internet access and iPod-style media functions.

Translation: hey you, suckers who gave us $600 just a few months ago for a crappy phone that didn't work, now please fork out another 400 for something that MAY work... Trust us, all Apple products are perfect, have you seen the "Hello I'm a mac, hello I'm a PC" commercials? Besides, we are a "nice" corporation, our slave labourers in China only work 20 hours a day, unlike those of our competitors...

BTW, I wonder how many Apple stocks the huffpo queen owns...

Not more than toward any other big fascist corporation (I know, a tautology...)
What really irks me is self-appointed "progressives" who've been brainwashed into believing that Apple is somehow a "caring" corp that cares about their customers and their workforce when, in fact, they sell crappy products like any other big corp and they use slave labour in third-world countries, just like the others...

This is Steve Jobs doing his best Nelson Muntz impersenation and going "HA HA" at all the people who went out and stood for days outside the Mac store to get the first iPhone.

Apple's iPhone has one overwhelming technical advantage: it's a Macintosh.

Well, that's not quite how they market it, but, technically speaking, that's essentially what it IS. This allows it to be much more of a computer, and much more of a phone, than any other product that has hit the market ... yet.

As time goes on, these devices will be regarded more and more, not as "telephones," but as portable computers. The dividing-line between laptop and desktop and palmtop (and even "server") will blur into oblivion, and the computers in all three areas will operate in ways that are far more nearly-identical than different. This "common modus-operandi" is the brass-ring secret that Apple snatched first.

And then there is the greatest disadvantage of the iPhone: it's a Macintosh!

I was thinking about buying an iPod Touch when Apple published their SDK. Nerd that I am I had hoped to be able to develop a few little applications for my own personal use. But then it turns out that development is Mac centric and that putting the software onto the device has to go through Apple servers... and I really don't need that crap. Apple has essentially made sure that both devices are only accessible to professional software developer. And that is fine. But it also means that I won't buy one.

Alas, even Palm "defined its own world" before "filling it." Only Apple, so far, has yet taken an existing operating-environment that had nothing at all to do with "a telephone" and applied it successfully to "a telephone" without rewriting any of it.

I do emphasize(!) the word "YET!"

How many folks are chasing hard after what Apple has done? About a bezillion...

How many insurmountable obstacles are standing in their way? About zero.

Does Apple know and understand this? You bet!

Gosh! How is it possible to succeed at business without an exclusive? Watch this...

Let the games begin . . .

Yeah... those are just dominating the market.
A year down the road, and all that ANYONE has come out with the come close to the iPhone is a bunch of look-alikes. Jeez... these clowns can't even steal inventively.
Y'all don't get that Apple is closing the coral door on a new ecosystem, and iPhone and touch are just phase 1.
Even Blackberry (as devoted of a following as it has with thumb-typers) is about to choke one the dust.
Yes, let the games begin indeed. :)
