Jimmy Carter

CNN:

A host of prominent Democrats are pushing for an Obama-Clinton unity ticket -- but Jimmy Carter isn't one of them.

The former president, who publicly endorsed Barack Obama shortly before polls closed Tuesday in the final two primary states, told a London newspaper that a joint ticket between the two former rivals would be "the worst mistake that could be made."

Everyone knows: Jimmy Carter was a better ex-President than President. That (at least) shows that he learns - he's gotten better with age.

And his right to voice an opinion (which was certainly solicited), is as current as anyone else's.

Well, political advice from Carter is scary. The worst president in modern times who lost big, I do not think Obama would be well served by his input. Obama's handlers have done very well so far in moving him to the top. Carter wants some media attention and that is okay. But Obama, should look elsewhere.

Regardless of whether his opinion is correct or not, I feel sad that he had to go to a foreign press to express his thoughts. He might not have been a lucky President as Reagan or Clinton but surely, he is not as disastrous as GWB. His opinions and comments should carry no less weight than GWB, in my opinion.

That guy better stay out of Obamas campaign entirely if he wants to win in November.

NO Obama/clinton ticket

You cannot run a campaign based on change, with the ultimate insider(s), hanging onto your coat-tails. I would hope that the DNC and Obama can find a VP that will compliment the ticket, without comprimising its core values.

I couldn't agree more.
Jimmy, THANKS.

Dear President Carter,

Thanks you for having the courage to state that which should be obvious.

So many pundits and clinton 'fans' have been trying to shove this horrow show down our throats for months now. Only the people who have nothing to fear from the clintons - or nothing to gain from the clintons empowerment - are bold enough to say what needs to be said.

Now if Al Gore could chime in with the same message (I'm sure he will not)

"Prominent democrats"? Maybe so, but all are Clinton supporters. Nobody in Obama's camp wants Clinton on the ticket. One person's dream is another's nightmare.

It's good to see Jimmy ' Thugs and Kisses' Carter interject himself into the Democratic fray. As with all previous decisions and views recently espoused by Jimmy, the opposite course should be wholeheartedly charted and embarked upon.

Obama/Clinton 08!

Ammobob is a war mongering Republican, still pushing for Clinton to be on the ticket.

Although my gut reaction is to say AMEN to President Carter's advice not to put Hillary on the ticket, this really is a call for Barack and his team. This talented team, with Barack at its head, have been able to get a Black guy whose middle name is Hussein to become the standard bearer for one of the two major political parties in the United States. To Hillary or not to Hillary is a cold political choice -- Does she make it more likely for him to become President than anyone else? If the answer is yes, and Barack believes he can control her and Bill better from the inside than having them undermining him from the outside, then he should choose her. If someone else makes it more likely for him to be elected, then he should choose that person.

I trust them to make that call, given the brilliance of the calls they have made already.

If they choose Chuck Hagel, as a history making choice the republican party as we know it will be finished. No more Rush Limbaugh, no more Hannity, no more Ann Coulter, they will pushed out of American Society. They will have a their own right wing society, but no one will hear them because America will be front and center again.

Choosing Hillary only gives the people who wish to divide us more ammo.

The Flip Side is if John McCain chooses Mel Martinez the Dems will be in trouble
