Couple Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy, accompanied by Carrey's daughter Jane, and Jenny's autistic son Evan Asher, were on Capitol Hill in Washington, Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at a rally calling for the elimination of toxins from children's vaccines. Wearing shirts that read "Green Our Vaccines," the pair held pictures of Evan as well. McCarthy, who has written a book about her experience parentlng an autistic son, has long believed his childhood immunizations triggered his condition.

As a parent of a 15 year with autism all I can say is Thank you JENNY MCCARTHY! I used to think she was an airhead and now she is my hero. I had felt all along that the vaccines caused my son's autism and thanks to her brave stand against big pharma,and the medical association who kept telling us their vaccines were not harmful it is her brave voice that is breaking the myth that vaccines are safe! I will never vaccinate my son again not even for the flu.

Why are we still talking about mercury? The study that accused mercury of being the autism culprit has been retracted by over 90% of the doctors who initially endorsed it! Many of the quotes and studies you cite are from as far back as 1899! Autism rates have increased due to the new criteria for identifying autism. People who are slightly different personality-wise are now diagnosed as autistic as opposed to several years ago when they were just "quirky." The best thing to do if you are concerned is not buy into a lot of false medicine and sensationalism. Ask your pediatrician. Ask many pediatricians. Read both sides of the story. Read whole accounts. I am not saying that blanket vaccinations should be warranted because there are special cases, but make an informed decision and realize, should you choose not to vaccinate, all it takes is one simple polio, measles, or hepatitus virus, and your child is devastated for life.

I am a father. I have two small children. I will not subject them to the horrors and permanent disabilities of pre-vaccine medicine because a some people are "concerned." All of the real peer reviewed science here shows no link between vaccines and autism. keep studying. maybe you will find something. It is far more likely to be found in diet in IMO. One of the nearly 50,000 chemicals that came on the market in the 50's or before that were never tested and yet end up in our food and drinking water.
Europe has thrown out our standards and is starting form scratch testing all those chemicals we stupidly put in everything we call food. That will likely bear much more fruit than blaming the vaccines. If you do try to stop giving your kids vaccines then prepare to accept the return of diseases that can kill or cause permanent harm to our children. I won't let a few people with pitchforks stop me from utilizing the life saving drugs that we know effectively stop disease.
I work for no drug company and personally I think the drug companies in America charge far too much for their drugs and fixing that will have to be part of driving health care costs down. So please don't lump me in with people who support Big Pharma.

And what life-saving vaccines are you referring to? Vaccines don't save lives; they're intended to prevent some diseases.

The goal is immunity and vaccines do not give it. Instead they overstimulate one (1) of the immune system's response at the expense of the other. So when a real sickness invades the body, the immune system cannot respond. It's already incredibly busy fighting off the artificially induced sicknesses that it cannot create the appropriate response.

Anyone who has ever been vaccinated has a compromised immune system. Period. Regardless of the toxins used.

Sorry, but I do have to lump you in with a big pharma supporter, albeit as a passive-aggressive supporter. Why: vaccines are classified by the FDA as immuno-suppresants. Why? Because vaccines don't work: they suppress immune systems. Why else do people need booster shots, eh?

And another thing you omitted: none of those peer-reviewed studies covers a time period of greater than a few hours. Why? Think about it Mr. Tenery. And think about why the FDA is now going to study non-vaccinated kids. You could ask around and compare your two kids health to the non-vaccinated kids and compare the first 12 years of their lives. I've done it already along with many other of my fellow moms: the vaxed kids wind up sick on the average of once a month.

It's very well known that the pharmaceutical industry controls most if not all of the mainstream information we get about drugs and vaccines. Prominent academic physicians are routinely located and hired as "medical Key Opinion Leaders " to spread the propaganda.

The mainstream media compounds the felony by having becoming hugely corrupted by ad money. Look at the number of drug ads in Time magazine -- of course they can "prove" that vaccines are harmless!

We do know that the number of mandatory vaccines for children has skyrocketed in recent years -- children who don't have the right or wherewithal to say NO.

The situation is complicated, and goes way beyond the issue of using mercury in preservatives . The problem involves the vaccines' very mechanism of action in bodies whose blood-brain barrier hasn't even formed.

For those of us that insist that there is nothing wrong with the vaccinations that we give our children, let's take a deep breath and stop to consider something: Our pediatrician recommended that my wife not eat swordfish while she breast-fed our daughter due to the high concentration of mercury; she then assured us that it was safe to inject mercury-preserved vaccines directly into my daughter's blood stream. What in the wide, wide world of sports is going on here?

There is a great TIME magazine piece about vaccines and autism that has come out recently. The amount of mercury has nothing to do with vaccines or autism. The report which first drew these conclustions was specious at best and has lost most professional support for it. There is a direct correllation between autism and vaccines when you factor in RARE genetic and cellular defects. The solution is to get your children tested for these defects. IF they are found you have a legitimate argument for not vaccinating your child. If they are not found, there is no medical reason to not have your child vaccinated. Jenny Mccarthy acknowledged that her daughter had a condition which combined with vaccines led to her autism. Autism reports have increased due to the ability to detect and define autism more clearly, not because of vaccinations. Read reports and medical journals. All this information is there.

I asked why my wife couldn't eat fish with mercury while breast-feeding, but it was acceptable to inject mercury-infused medicine it directly into a ten pound infant's body.

I tried to read that article too, but I couldn't get past the initial paragraph. The writer makes reference to the HIB vaccine, and then refers to it as a virus. Well, it is NOT a virus, but a bacteria, and they are COMPLETELY different! As far as I'm concerned her credibility went out the window, and the entire article is inaccurate. We can't count on journalists...even investigative journalists to get the facts straight for us...we have to do that ourselves.

I'm glad they are doing this but there is certainly more to this than just the vaccines.

There is an old video floating around the net of Robert Kennedy Jr talking back in 2003 regarding the level of mercury in our bodies.

He points out that in pregnant women alone, the level has risen so high in the last two decades that it's at dangerous levels. Combine that with the mercury in vaccines and you have a situation where to really bad levels converge.

Perhaps no one has heard of the Hannah Poling case. The government and Pharma have conceded her autism was caused by a vaccination. They said it was a combination of a rare mitochondrial disorder in combination with the vaccine. The reason this mitochondrial disorder is so rare it is because it is never tested for in autistic individuals. (My sister has appointment for my nephew to be tested for this mitochondrial disorder.)

I support what they are trying to do in increasing awareness and investigating the cause of the rise in Autism, but this is another example of where the "Green" moniker has been co-opted. "Green" has simply become the new buzz-adjective to apply to anything that a person wants to portray as totally positive without any negatives. "Green-Collar" jobs are a farce. Ethanol, a supposedly "Green Energy" source, will cause more climate change than it will solve. I'm forced now to be cynical about anything labeled "Green."
