Obama: Calm In The Swirl Of History

He gives the appearance of a strikingly laid-back victor, this presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

On the day before the night he made history, Barack Obama shot hoops at the Back Bay Club in Chicago, and called the odd superdelegate or two. Then he and his wife, Michelle, kissed their daughters goodnight and, with a half dozen of their best friends, rode to Midway Airport to catch a flight to St. Paul to claim his prize. He sat on the plane, legs crossed, chuckling, chatting, giving little hint of what roiled within.

Obama: Calm In The Swirl Of History"

President Obama will be "cool under fire"!

I'm not a religious person by any means, but when Obama is inaugurated on January 20, 2009, I will say many prayers of thanks to God, wherever and whomever she is.

His speech last night showed the true measure of this man. The media missed the very real human aspect of what happened last night on that stage. Many observation come to mind.

The looks between he and Michelle as they walked the stage. He looked both overwhelmed and confident all in one. She did what women do for the men they love. She clapped her hands to give him his props and told him I love you. It was there for the world to see. The smile on his face after she did this woke him up to the reality of what just happened.

Many supporters had their minor children at this rally. Young black and biracial boys between the ages of 9 to 15 were noticed sprinked throughout the crowd, as he made is way shaking hands throughout the crowds of people it was notice as he came upon each young boy he reached down to not only shake their hands, but to speak a few words with them and give them hugs. The look on their faces was priceless. I saw this occur at least 3 times. That is something these young men will carry with them as hope of what they can acheive. It was a memorable moment. In all the excitement, he didn't forget about this littlest supporters.

Well Done Mr. Obama.

This is a message for Bill3rdterm.

Your gloomy gus tactics won't work here. We are on a natural high and won't be coming back down for several years! I know it is hell when your candidate loses. But it is over. Face it or move on.

We won't be drug down to your depths of muck. We are enjoying Obama's win and savoring in it. If you can't find something nice to say to any of us here, you may want to move on over to a Hillary site. I am sure people there will more than love to agree with whatever you say.

But here - hey it is a party going on and you will not be able to spoil it!!

Ok, Americans. We can now dump our Cymbalta, Cipramil, Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac, Effexor, and Wellbutrin down the toilet. The tide is going to turn and, though it may take a few years, things are going to be so much brighter!!

Barak Obama embodies the USA presidency. We've had the anti-president for nearly eight years, it's easy to forget that a president does not reign but serves with a self-assured calm demeanor.

I applaud and admire that my candidate has the wisdom and ability to inspire. I fear it is a trap to badger him into campaigning on the details of programs. A reality-based presidential candidate knows that prepackaged, neatly wrapped blue-skies programs do not provide the foundation for successful national programs.

Other than an historic race for the presidential nomination, we have a case of the political illness of cynicism. It is good to be inspired. It is good to be inspired that all USAians can work together for a viable present and secure future.

FDR first ran in a time of national suffering. He did not run on the basis of programs. The "happy warrior" ran by inspiring USAians that the nation could be uplifted with innovation. He did not outline what the innovative programs would be until he took office and began the programs that were needed because of actual circumstances. That's how a leader operates. The true leader does not just throw out ideas that may or may not be feasible when the leader has responsibility for governing.

We need pragmatic creativity and judgment--the strong suits of Barak Obama.

Not only that but he's SMART. Remember when we used to take it for granted that our President would be smart? How long ago was that, anyhow? Hmm...about 8 years ago as I recall.

Less than once in a generation someone like Obama comes along. We are lucky.

HP should clearly label any article or blog from outside sources as it did with this blog. It empowers the user of HP to ignore unreliable sources such as NYT, FAUX NOISE, PEOPLE, etc.

I will try to stated in a very short statement how grateful I am grateful that America chose to nominate Barack Obama. I believe that it will show that America is a just country and when Barack Obama is elected president all of its citizens will be equal, racial equality will have been achieved. The social ills of slavery and segregation will have been healed and the need for the Congressional Black Congressman people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would become relics of the past. Thank you America for eliminating the need for affirmative action God bless America.

LOL! And that damned Lex Luthor, too.

He's not a messiah, he's not a superman. He's a person who exhibits the intellect, the judgment, and the ability to become a good, if not great, president. He also has the personal integrity to admit that he's human, he's made mistakes. He's exhibited a willingness to listen to and consider the opinions of others. Unlike our current administration, he does not see issues as black or white without nuance. I'm excited he's our nominee and will work as hard as I can to see him elected to the presidency.

I think it is just so sad that he wasn't allowed to enjoy his day of making history. The fact that Hillary horned in with her "non-concession" speech was reprehensible and disrespectful. And then McBush had to get into the act too.

Oh well, we have our victory and it is s.w.e.e.t!

Yes history was made today. It is a wonderful thing, black America will be liberated and the long awaited justice will have been served. For the first time blacks and white will be equal no more need for afformative action the no more listening to the complaints about slavery segregation and all of that hogwash. America has proven that it can do the right thing, it is wonderful that we no longer need a black caucus a Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton thanks America for giving us Barack Obama we love you.

In the future, it would best serve you to not speak of what you don"t understand. For you to even make the reference that slavery and segregation and equality talks are HOGWASH allows others and myself, to know that though the veil has been lifted that it has yet to be removed. You need to truly understand that here in America that many have acknowledged and even apologized for the Holocaust, BUT the idea of slavery should never be discussed (although one state did apologize). We want to sweep it under the rug, because it"s just an unfortunate part of history.

I"m sorry for your ignorance, but slavery, equality among mean, and segregation is not and will never be hogwash.

Racial economic inequality remains a fact that must be addressed.

You must be under the mistaken impression that racism was wiped out last night. Unfortunately that's not the case.

However, it was a huge step forward in uniting We The People and telling racists, "We've moved beyond you".

While a black democratic nominee does WONDERS for the physche of lots of African-Americans and their posterity. This nomination is not the be all end all of black problems. There is alot that still needs to be done to even out the playing field. Barack Obama is not a president for just Blacks, he's the president for everyone. Hopefully his policies will help to reshape the poor and working class standards of living

Why do the always try and dress Michelle Obama like "Jackie O"? I means from the hair style to the pearls to the dresses. WOW!!!!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:48 PM on 06/04/2008

I love the way she dresses!

A strong woman who is not afraid to wear a dress, who does not try to look like a man. I love it.

I don't see her style so much like Jackie O. I think Michelle has impeccable taste. She wears a hairstyle that is very complimentary and her dresses are simple but chic. And i love the colors she wears. Quite the stylist, she is!!

Michelle is awesome. They could dress her in burlap and she would still be HOT.

I suspect that Michelle Obama is smart enough and savy enough to dress herself.
Fashion passes , style remains - Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel.
Mrs Obama dresses with style and class which was also Mrs. Kennedy-Onassis way.

"I see little old white ladies and big burly black guys and Latino girls and all their hands are entwining. They"re feeding on each other as much as on me."

A quote from the article by Obama. This is so true. I saw him in Birmingham, Alabama in February. We were all there, old white ladies (me), black guys, white guys, men, women, Asians. We are all so excited and bound by the marvelous man that is Barack Obama. It felt wonderful. I'll never forget the experience.
