Politico previously reported that Obama's donor lists are so large that the Federal Election Commission is unable to process them with their current spreadsheet applications. Now that Obama has won enough delegates to clinch the nomination, and Clinton will concede the race to him on Saturday, the GOP fears that the Democrats' extraordinary fundraising will leave them at a terrible disadvantage come November:

With Hillary Clinton's campaign coming to an end this weekend, Barack Obama's rise as the Democratic nominee brings serious bad news to a new group -- John McCain's finance team...

...Obama's campaign, which raised $272 million through April for the primary, now is reaching out to Clinton's fundraisers, who raised another $200 million through April, in an effort to unite forces and bury the historically deep-pocketed Republicans.

Take a look at some of the numbers:

• If each of Obama's donors gave him a modest $250, he'd have $375 million to spend during the two-month general election sprint. That's $186 million a month; $47 million a week.

• During the same September to Nov. 4th period, McCain will have about $85 million to spend since he has decided to take taxpayer money to help finance his campaign activities.

• Obama has more than 1.5 million donors; McCain has a few hundred thousand. If just a million of Obama's donors sent him the maximum donation, $2,300, he could raise $2.3 billion.

Read more about the numbers here.

I'm so thrilled with the way this has turned out. I've never donated to a campaign until Obama's either. I'll keep donating too. Where are Obama's stats for May?

Here's a thought......

How about the DNC announces that the Democratic Convention in Denver will be funded 100% by the public, and will include a "World's Fair" type collection of arts, entertainment and US based green industries and inventions and future technologies and energy exhibits???

I'll put my money on a project that positive and forward-looking and ATTENTION-GETTING!

How about y'all?

Senator Obama,

DO NOT TAKE PUBLIC FINANCING. I want my meager contribution to your Historic Campaign to COUNT in trouncing that troglodytic John McCain. Public financing is like Affirmative Action for McCain, since he won't be able to raise anything near what you will be able to raise Good Sir--and you know how the GOP HATES Affirmative Action, right? Why should the playing field be artificially leveled for John McCain? He didn't HAVE to run for POTUS, did he?

To further amplify my point Senator Obama--and since you are a Christian--I would like to direct your attention to Luke 14:28-31. Hey, if John McCain isn't sufficiently prepared for the general election financially, if he and the Republican machine haven't counted up the cost of challenging what the majority of the American people want--real, substantial change--SHAME ON HIM AND THEM!!! You should not accept public financing and (deus ex machina!) rescue him and them from their certain pecuniary peril.

All the Best to you, Mrs. Obama and your lovely daughters,

BEHM777

He is NOT going to because McCain has NO CONTROL over his party and have the nerve to have the slogan leadership you can believe it. Leadership STARTS with leading your party if they dont listen to you how the heck can we be convinced that you can lead a country.

NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL SOME SERIOUS "PUBLIC FINANCING"!!!

There will come a time when the Obama campaign will have far more money than it can use. Obama and Dean have the wisdom to take that excess cash and pour it into winning everything down to county commissioners. The Gopers will be out of power for at least a generation.

I can't wait for this to happen, Give our country a new New Deal it served us well the last time and our country is falling a part literarily. Get rid of the Corporatism and greed. Start community organization to help our own people. It is about time for a change this greed has been going on way to long and it didn't start with Bush 2 it started a long time before that.
We don't need wars and we don't need to bully countries into our way of thinking, we just need a fair playing field and our jobs back. Say good by to CRAFTA, NAFTA, and the NORTH AMERICAN UNION.

The People have risen from our long collective coma

We have stepped away from the fear-mongering Propaganda Machine in the living room

We have joined hands and made a commitment to Save Our Nation

The Rethugs should be very very scared.

I send a minimum of $25 per week. Not much, but its adding up. I'm also sending Bush's $300 slap in the face to Obama.

I consider it an investment in my own and my country's survival.

Obama outspent Hillary two and three to one in many states but she still beat him. Money is not always the answer.

"Obama outspent Hillary two and three to one in many states but she still beat him. Money is not always the answer."

She only "beat" him if you don't look at the big picture. Something Hillary's team didn't do either. The entire goal of the primary was to win the nomination. It's not about states, or popular vote, or this or that. The only thing that matters is winning the nomination. Hearing Clintonites talk about how she won this state or that state at the end is like listening to a baseball team say "we won the 7th inning 3-1, and the 8th 2-1"! Even though they were down by 10 runs after 6 and lost the game.

He spent what he did in TX, OH, and PA for two main reasons... keep the delegate count close (done) and bankrupt her campaign to where she'd be at a major disadvantage on two fronts... the actual state battles and the super delegate battle. He knew she couldn't overtake his lead if she had no funds, and the supers would not back her over him if they knew she was broke.

Obama is going to play a 50 state strategy with all his money and put McCain on defense in states any other Dem wouldn't challenge him in. You are going to see major play for GA, LA, NC, SC, MS, VA, NM, CO, NV, MT and even AZ, besides all the traditional battle states like OH, FL, MI.

Yes...but it helps to get the answers out to the masses... the media, and the world, revolves around money.

There's a new sheriff in town. He's smart, charismatic, and has a vision for restoring democracy and leading us back into the world community. Let's provide all the support we can, both financially and otherwise. It's so refreshing after all these years of wandering in the intellectual desert. Go Obama!

So eloquently put!

Let's not forget that when he wins the presidency, he is going to expect us to hold him accountable, while doing the same for ourselves, our families and our communities. It's not going to be a cake walk, but I am totally amped!!! I have never been so ready to give whatever I could to public service!

I'd say the best thing to celebrate the end of Clintonism is to send money to Obama the evening that Hillary's gives up. That is what I'm going to do. I've save some dry powder just for the right time.
