FAQ: The Vice Presidency

With the process of finding the candidates to replace George Bush at an end, attention has moved to who's going to replace Dick Cheney, assuming he leaves voluntarily and doesn't charge up his pacemaker, barricade himself in his office, and start shooting people in the face.

Both John McCain and Barack Obama have started their search process, with McCain already at the interviewing stage. At that pace, he'll be well into the talent competition before Obama even starts paging through applications. Obama's process is, of course, complicated by the fact that, according to some sources, Hillary Clinton is basically extorting him to put her on the ticket in exchange for her acknowledging reality.
