Obama Celebrates Win By Riding Bike

Obama Bike

Presidential hopeful Senator Barack Obama has won our admiration before, thanks to his support of cycling and his support of public transportation, as well as his eagerness to address climate change, as exemplified by the fact that he would want Al Gore to help him on climate issues (however, we have also been less-than-impressed with Obama's stance on "clean coal" technology). Now, after a protracted, difficult campaign, Obama has finally won the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. So how did he celebrate? According to the Associated Press, the Senator took the weekend off and "joined family and neighbors for a bicycle ride along the shores of Lake Michigan on Sunday."

This bit of news should erase any doubt left that Obama would be sympathetic to cause of cyclists. Then again, President Bush is known to be an avid cyclist, yet to our knowledge he hasn't gone out of his way to promote cycling for recreation or transportation. And while Obama still has to defeat John McCain in November, it's hard to resist imagining what it would be like to not only have a president that is a cyclist, but one that is also a bicycle advocate. When oil costs $130 a barrel, and given the desire for change in politics, that may no longer be an outlandish idea.

He should work on his gear. New and better shoes. Nike shox. I love President Obama, though.

In these photos, he kind of looks and dresses like Roger from the old TV series "What's Happening".

I am just imagining the Secret Service scrambling to get bikes rented for the bike ride! I wonder what Barack's code name if for the Secret Service.. Hrmm.... Miracle?

What the heck is wrong with riding in jeans? Remember too that this is a family outing. As for me, I find him sexy even if he is covered with sackcloth and ashes. His beauty cannot be diminished by clothing. Just Love The Man!

Obama is on a bike, therefore, he looks great!

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but one of his daughters is riding the bike behind him, sitting on a separate seat. She's just cropped out of the pictures. I saw the video footage in my local news earlier today.

This is not the best picture of obama, looks like a math professor, ( no offense to any one) man he let the intellectual part of he's brain dress him lol. Well if people accuse obama of moments of vanity and overconfidence i'll just refer them to this picture. Whoa!

Hey, math profs are sexy. At least the ones I've had. Ohh la la!!

We need bike trails and the construction of public transporation around the country. This is idea of everyone having a car or two cars in the family is insane. Both oil companies and the automobile industry have been working together since the 1950's to prevent any plausible alternative.

Come to Wisconsin, there are plenty of bike trails!

THE BIKE IS TOO SMALL

He needs to get one with a larger frame. No need to flame me...I'm not questioning Obama's judgment...just stating a fact.

It looks like the bike needs air in the tires, too...

He looks like a nerd and couldn't care less. G*d, I love him! :-)

It's refreshing as hell to just see a regular guy.I know the guy's a politician, but I really believe this guy is for real.

One thing I'd like to see are nationwide bike trails. It just doesn't work having a 5 mph bicycle on 55 mph roads. Most of the time, there's a blind curve and there's no place to go. It amazes me that there are more accidents.
