Fox News Changes: "Terrorist Fist Jab" Anchor E.D. Hill Loses Her Show, Laura Ingraham In At 5PM

Huffington Post   First Posted: 6/18/08 Updated: 5/25/11

Ed Hill Laura Ingraham

Perhaps feeling the ratings heat, Fox News is making changes to its afternoon lineup.

TVNewser reports that E.D. Hill, who hosts "America's Pulse" — and who raised many eyebrows this week after calling Barack and Michelle Obama's fist-pound a "terrorist fist jab"has lost her show:

America's Pulse anchored by E.D. Hill goes away, but Hill stays with the network in a capacity to be determined. Hill has been with FNC since 1998. She co-anchored Fox & Friends for several years before moving to the 11amET hour, then launching America's Pulse.

TVNewser further reports that Martha MacCallum's "Live Desk" will be expanded to two hours and that she will take on a co-host, Trace Gallagher.

Further, the New York Times' Brian Stelter reports that the network will test Laura Ingraham in the 5PM hour (once occupied by John Gibson and filled of late by "America's Election HQ"):

The Fox News Channel, which has been seeking a new format for the 5 p.m. hour, will place a rotating series of personalities in the time slot beginning next week, including the conservative radio host Laura Ingraham.

Ms. Ingraham, one of the country's most popular radio hosts, frequently fills in for Bill O'Reilly, and Fox executives appear to be grooming her as a new talent for the network. Other people will also receive trial runs in the time slot.

Fox News Channel is expected to announce the changes later Tuesday. In February the cable network replaced John Gibson, the longtime host of the 5 p.m. hour, with Bill Hemmer and Megyn Kelly, two younger anchors who also host a morning show. Mr. Hemmer and Ms. Kelly's afternoon show, "America's Election HQ," covered the primary season. But now, with the party nominees known and two months until the political conventions, there may not be quite as much election news to cover.

I've started giving a dem donation in honor of every swiftboat lie, then i email fox news and tell them that in honor of michelle malkin's baby momma remark, i have made a donation to Obama, or the DNC, or my state congress person. And i will continue to do so for every outrageous remark they make. Imagine them getting thousands of emails everytime they lie and swiftboat. Knowing it is adding thousands of dollars to the democratic campaigns. Also contacting all fox noise advertisers advising them that i am boycotting their products as long as they support propoganda , smears and lies. try oreilly-sucks.com/sponsor. lets start using our power!

My favorite is a site called "Sweet Jesus I Hate Bill O'Reilly". Give it a shot.

I love the idea of boycotting the companies that advertise on Fox. Thats the one language those "fair and balanced" liars understand- the chiching of advertising $s.
05:14 PM on 06/14/2008
Poor libs.

May I interject a little common sense, using your own words against you, usually when you're fighting for more pornography or defending perversion....

"If you don't like it, don't watch."
08:54 PM on 06/15/2008
Pornography isn't disguising itself as something that it's not. Everyone is aware of what it is. It isn't sold as children's entertainment or even prime-time television. Propaganda on the other hand is designed to intentionally mislead. Nice try.

So, if I understand your point here, you are saying that Fox news, in your opinion, is perverted pornography?

Don't you think that is a little extreme?

The 5 o'clock slot could be filled by Crowley and Colmes. I caught them last weekend - very saucy political interaction, a fresh looking team.
04:12 PM on 06/14/2008
Are you kidding?" Crowley crawled out from the depths of hell. I detest that woman and she has nothing to spew, except hate. This makes her the perfect hire for Fake News. Murdock, she is your kind of employee. Give the woman a job. Ditto the above for Laura Ingram too.

There are so many awful hosts and commentators are FOX, Laura Ingraham is just a new blip on the TV. She is incapable of objective analysis and language without Radical Republican talking points. Pressure needs to be put on the sponsors at FOX, as FOX is dispensing poison.
12:14 PM on 06/14/2008
Ms. Hill simply displayed and spoke the language that is accepted and spoken on FOX,. having comfortable enough to say what she said demonstrates that she simply follows the low bar set by this network.
11:32 AM on 06/14/2008
And why is Megyn Kelly suddenly being shoved down our throats by this news station? She's on ALL DAY LONG. I'd like to know what she did to earn all this air time.
01:58 AM on 06/16/2008
Hi Sunny555 . . . ."Megyn" is a babe!

Do recognize the patronage . . . . and as a fellow conservative . . . I must say Thank you . . . In return I will watch a few hours of CNN and MsNBC.

Yours,

Rock Solid

I can't stand Megyn Kelly. And her bleached hair, unattractive nose job, and irritating over acting when she is reporting what is supposed to be news, and not real-life drama. Give me Candy Crowley any day!
10:09 AM on 06/14/2008
fox news should be remove from air cos there transending hate in the country.
05:19 AM on 06/14/2008
Let's see . . .
(1) ED has more viewers than OBama has voters
(2) Sean is a star in my book
(3) I get a kick out of all the vengence in the comments . . . good to see liberals still have a dark side!
(4) It was a fistjab
(5) Fistjabs are messages
(6) . . . And I don't like the message
(7) God bless America!

Yours,
Rock Solid

Somehow if "(1)" were true I doubt she would have just had her show taken off the air. Wouldn't be a very smart move financially.
01:36 AM on 06/16/2008
Hi Apikores!

Quite the opposite . . . when she returns the audience will likely be larger . . . once word gets around that our favorite E.D. was dropped over calling a fistjab a terrorist fistjab and it was due to the Obamatrons (new Fox word!) "sensitivity" . . . folks may just likely want to "join the parade" . . . . the smart money is on the advertising she sells on the 1st program back.

Just have to love . . . "going with the flow!"!

Let us see . . . headline . . . "Sweet talented Blonde vs the Fistjabbing Obamatron Machine . . . . hurry for your ringside seat . . . best action since David and Goliath" . . . can't help but be a best seller!

. . . but thank you for worrying about the Fox News finances . . . you truly are compassionate!

God Bless!

RememberTheAlamo I feel so sorry for you that you can admire such hatefilled
people Fistjabs to most intelligent people simply means

(Love) (You are my Boo) most people don't
think mean thoughts all the time. And I would love to know how does one
station have so many evil people working for them (How do they know about
the terriost handshake)????????
01:52 AM on 06/16/2008
Hi edwarir . . . appreciate the compassion!

"Boo"? . . . and what is that? I'm still with the middle ages handshake and hug routine . . . surely I'm a slow learner . . . Tapping knuckles was for boxers and fighters before the fight . . they have gloves on and are sweaty . . . so handshakes and hugs were easy to replace with knuckle bumps.

So . . . fistjabs are associated with fighting . . . and Obama is not a fighter . . . or is he? Am so confused about all the "new traditions" this guy is rolling out . . . still haven't figured out the "wackadoodle" thing.

As to E.D. . . . she is an angel!

Yours,

Rock Solid

Ratings, ratings, ratings determine location, location, location.

Watching a progran determines its ratings. I've not watched FAUX news in years and will not contribute to their obvious bias in many areas. ED Hill is a part of the problem of FAUX news as are people with her same style and lack of journalistic expertise. The fist jab incident. Reprehensible. There are videos all over depicting even presidents involved in fist jabbing.

I am greatly disappointed that Hemmer is a part of that company and has succumbed to the Kool Aide still being served.

Part II. continued from above:.

Ms. Ingrained is a very angry woman. This has become more obvious since her recent health problems, Dire as they were, indeed, her growing anger ,during this same time ,began to seep through. You can hear it now in her voice and see it on her face, especially around the eyes. I do in all sincerity hope that medically she recovers completely. The outcome of this other problematic area in need of treatment is less certain.

Unfortunately, history does not bode well for her. Just look at all those Fox's newspersons (i.e. consultants and contributors) who have attemped to churn out scholarly writings in their quest for stardom on the NY Times best seller list,. Sadly, the have all demonsrated by their own words, cable performances, and personal proclivities to be nothing but irrelevent to any and all enlightened discourse on serious matters of the day.

For starters, try going a little lighter on the eyeliner, Laura. The Chanel or Bobbi Brown or Mac cosmetic counters at N.M. or Saks might help.

No, the problem here is E.D.Hil. She is desperate to make a name for herself on Fox. She just did.

How many of you "Fox Hunters" caught their morning show several days ago when the other blonde co-co-co hostess referred to Barack Obama as "B.O.?" Yes, B.O.,but not with the nerve or inlection as if referring to, yes, "Bill O'Reilly." He's got the B.O. He had it first ..

Now, we have that other blonde (there are so many "other blondes" on Fox, its difficult to keep up with them all) Ms. Laura Ingram, Engram, or is it Endgame ? No matter. Has anyone other Fox Hunters noticed how her voice has become increasingly nasal. Ever listen to Ms. Laura and McCain at the same time ? OMG !
12:48 AM on 06/14/2008
What about the FOX so-called News channel running across the screen recently: 'Democrats Mad: Stop picking on Obama's baby momma'. How low can they go? Someone should be fired for that one in my opinion. That is so inappropriate.
11:13 PM on 06/13/2008
I am sick and tired of being sick and tired of FOX news. I am tired of being angry, disgusted, frustrated by their very racist and sick statements. It is one thing to oppose someone's political point of view, but to dehumanize them, degrade them and even suggest murdering this man is just too much. I want to know who will stand with me in boycotting the network and writing letters to everyone in their administration. Just saying they are wrong and horrible is not enough. We must stand together and end this type of sickness. They will not continue to do this if we all say that we will not stand for it. We can not stand for this.
TODAY is the day to stand for something, or fall for anything. Wake up America. We have power. We need to use it. Even if you do not like Obama, don't you just have to take a stand for right and righteous?
12:49 AM on 06/14/2008
Please do not watch it!
08:53 PM on 06/13/2008
Earth to Fox News: It's not the personalities, its not even the statement. It is the corporate culture that made the statement seem natural to your employee; the unfairness, the imbalance, the bias and half-truths on which you've built your reputation. You didn't need to put out a memo that you wanted this lie spread, you just made it clear that such lies are the way to get promoted.

Condew you hit it on the nose. Imagine being rich enough to own a network. And then, saying, "you know I have enough influence now to use my network to spread the absolute hate I have in my heart". Now, you put that same mindset in everyone that works for you, and then just sit back and enjoy. Oh, by the way, sometimes people may get on to you if your people go a little overboard, but in those instances one must be sacraficed, or just moved to another time slot.

I think Fox News sees the writing on the wall. Obama's going to be the next Prez, and has been very successful when ignoring Fox completely, so the last thing they want is a President Obama saying, "Oh yes, Fox News, the network with the chick who calls me a f'ing terrorist. Let's make us a few 'modifications' to their access."

I suspect ol' Rupert knows that if FNC doesn't start doing some serious atonement, they might just be reporting the next 8 years of White House press conferences from outside the gates.

Screw that. They should be granted no more access than the Inquirer. Fox news is nothing but a foreign owned propaganda machine and has no place at the table.

This commenter would like to say I am sorry to the Inquirer for the above insult. Please keep up the good rumor mongering.
