United Follows American, Sets $15 Bag Fee

June 12 (Bloomberg) -- UAL Corp.'s United Airlines said it will start charging customers $15 each way for a single checked bag on domestic flights, becoming the first carrier to match a similar fee by AMR Corp.'s American Airlines.

The moves by the world's two largest airlines put the fee a step closer to becoming a U.S. industry standard as carriers struggle with fuel costs that have doubled in the past year. At least two other airlines are considering such a charge.
