Colin Powell, the former Republican secretary of state, says he is not ruling out a vote for Barack Obama, the presumed Democratic nominee for president.

While Mr. Powell served in the administrations of two Republican presidents, he suggested yesterday his support for presumed Republican nominee John McCain is not a forgone conclusion.

Colin Powell is perhaps one of the smartest, most respected, men in the world - but his reputation was tarnished during the Bush Administration (and he knows it).
There's no doubt in my mind that he'll vote for Senator Obama - it's the smart thing to do.

Of course, I want every vote possible for Obama, but if this is an endorsement, I would like to see Obama renounce it. Colin Powell is a war criminal, plain and simple.

Don't vote, Mr. Powell. We don't need your vote.

You had a chance to vote while you were with this failed administration. I wrote you a letter and asked you to take a stand. To commit a verbal vote. To show some integrity. Instead, you left by the back door.

Sounds like Colin is teasing us. Is this the start of another mea culpa after his sad performance in front of the UN.. Anyway . Love to have him; the more the merrier to help defeat McBush!!!

If Powell claims he voted for Obama: he'd better have evidence!

Colin Powell would be a perfect Secretary of State in the Administration. I doubt he would want to be VP. A real plus for a new look at the world and cleaning up of 20 years of mess & mass of corruption and lies created by the Bush - Clinton Era.

Powell stood up to Bush and his war mongering pals...for a while. And then he drank the kool-aid I guess, or let them waterboard him with the kool-aid.

He's still way above the Rumsfeld/Cheney/etc crowd, but he too let us down to a certain extent.

He's still doing the mushy half this way half the other way thing.

If he wants to impress us, he should SPEAK UP against the horrendous war mongering policies of McW.

He is not impressing me by saying that he might not vote for McBush!

I don't give a damn who Powell votes for. That is just one vote. He can impress me by starting to speak truth to power (read: idiots).

There's no way he's voting for John-'1000 years of war'-McCain; he's too smart for that.

One of the points I have always had with Powell is his being a sellout. First, he covered the Army's ass as the investigative officer in the Mai Lai incident during Vietnam. Like today he saw no crimes that were later proven. As a Republican and a Black he could go further with that party as window dressing then he could with the Democrats. First, the military usually goes with the Repos because of increased military budgets and who does not want more taxpayer monies. Secondly, the Democrats have far more intellectual and competent Blacks than the Repos do so the ladder with them is easier to climb. Can anyone say Condi Rice! Beside, they pay better. He was a shill for the Repos both in Reagan's admin and then for the Bushies. No he is not credible and is suffering in silence because he is intelligent enough to know that he sold his soul to the dark side. Why people pay money to listen to him is beyond comprehension.

I would never vote for John McCain, but when I compare men with integrity with relation especially toi military service, I have to give McCain more credit as a man who stood for his principles. As the son of the Naval Commander who once the Viet Cong realized who son John McCain was he was offered an early release from his prison camp and refused it because none of the other prisoners had that kind of pull. Mc Cain may actually believe much of the crap he is spouting regarding the war, pro birth (certainly not pro life or he would support things for folks once born) stance etc in an effort to win, but when his life was on the line he acted with integrity Colin Powell only reads about.

I also think that Powell would be a good choice for VP.

1.He can clean up some of the mess that he helped make.
2.He's moderate, sensible and knows all the secrets.
3.He's got both Defense and Diplomatic credentials.
4.He doesn't aspire higher (like "someone" who could be waiting for something to "happen").
5.Unlike John McCain who gets so much credit for sitting in a jail and being called a hero for it. This man has actually led men in battle.
