John Cusack Morning Joe

John Cusack appeared on "Morning Joe" from London this morning to discuss his new film, "War Inc.," his new political ad (where he compares John McCain to George Bush), and the his views on England's enthusiasm over Barack Obama's candidacy.

Cusack also responded to Bill O'Reilly's claim that he was "peddling propaganda" by saying, "If the New York Times op-ed piece is running in their lead editorial that outsourcing interrogation should be banned, and they're coming after the private mercenaries, I don't think we should get any ethics lessons from Mr. O'Reilly."

Wow, I'm really starting to wonder if some of you Cusack haters are actually missing part of your brain? I say this because I get so tired of you people complaining about some actor because they have an opinion on something. So I guess it's ok if you numb nuts have an opinion but oh no if an actor says something they are out of line. Pull your head out of your tail and think about what your saying before you post a comment here. Better yet head over to the GOP website because I hear the traffic is real light these days.

But we should take international political advice from Jon Cusack?

Jon Cusack? Not Joan, but Jon?

Pass.

Johnnyjust: Take political advice? I do not believe in giving someone that much power. Does the entertainment industry make me think? You betcha.

Listening to John Cusack's interview was very enlightening. Many actors and actresses have been politically active from the get-go. I am thankful for that, as there is so much that is hush-hush politically that the everyday "Joe" hears nothing of. If using their well earned money to voice an opinion that finds its way to the mainstream helps me form an opinion as to what is going on in our government, so be it.

If it was not for movies being made about core issues, our mental health industry may not have changed (One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest). Susan Sarandon was right on the money from day one regarding this Iraq conflict, and although criticized and "flogged" publicly, she stuck to her guns. Her movie, Dead Man Walking, had a bunch of people in my neck of the woods debating/talking for weeks about capital punishment.

If only to get people thinking, moving, discussing and questioning, movies have proved useful in our society. The entertainment industry voices "their stand" in the guise of entertainment to gently ease into our conscience, not shoving advice down our throats - and we get to choose to watch it - not turn to every channel and have slanted government dictated media forced into our living rooms daily.

i've been a cusack fan for years. he leads with intelligence and thoughtful insights seem to abound in war, inc., a film that should have been major league but... o'reilly is a mouldy, pompous, berating old scold. intelligence, other than his own, terrifies him. he should be found in some mouldering, nearly empty used books store. keith olbermann has become a bore. too, too many ads. he's becoming increasingly pontifical and he's taken a page from castro - lengthy speeches his true fans seem to enjoy, but tend to put me to sleep or change the channel.

He is great. To his response to O'Reilly, I would only add that O'Reilly has built an entire career on peddling propaganda. Everything he has stood for has been thoroughly discredited. The fact that he has the audacity to attempt to spin people away from the truth - even now at ten minutes to midnight - only proves what fraud he is. O'Reilly and his ilk attack the messenger, not the message. This tactic has really grown old.

How about making the movie available on Pay per view? I would like to see it, but it is not available everywhere.

The hilarious thing about people that complain about O'Reilly, is that they will go on and on about how great Keith Olbermann is because KO tells "the truth".

Keith Olbermann and Bill O'Reilly are the same thing. Kool aid TV.

Yeah! The people who say you are clever and nice are the same as people who say you're an inbred dipshit. Same thing! Just people giving opinions!

Content makes a difference.

By your reasoning, one could say that Brittney Spears and Luciano Pavarotti are the same thing. Singers.

Keith Olbermann and Bill O'Reilly say very different things. They are not the same.

Bill O'Reilly broadcasts the talking points of the Bush Administration. He is one of their principle media cheerleaders and has been for many years. Keith Olberman presents the opposite viewpoint. The difference betweent them is quite important. The evidence in nearly every case validates Olberman's view, and not O'Reilly's.

Dissent is one of the great things about America and it is practiced vigorously on both sides of the political spectrum. And what is great about America is that, more often than not, the country is not afraid to confront the truth. Its what makes your country strong and resilient in the face of difficult times and crtitcism. Of course, the Republicans and neo-cons will claim that Cusack (and other public figures like him) are being un-American but the reality is that its only when public dissent was squashed after 9/11 that things went badly awry in America.
