Robert G. Morvillo, one of the go-to members of the criminal bar, had some explaining to do this week when two of his law firm's high-profile clients appeared to be flouting the criminal justice system.

One of them, Samuel Israel III, the hedge fund manager scheduled to begin a 20-year federal prison sentence on Monday, disappeared en route, after abandoning his car by a Hudson River crossing.

Another fine example of equal justice.

What was this man doing free while waiting to serve a long prison term?

Oh, he only bilked people out of $400 million judge. He is no risk.
Just let him free on bail, and when the day arrives I'm certain he'll just show up at the prison door to serve his 20 years.
