Burger King

CBS News:

It may be the most exotic, the most expensive and the most controversial burger ever flipped in a fast-food joint.

"This is not just ordinary beef, this is special?" CBS News correspondent Mark Phillips asked.

Burger King's Chef Mark Dowding said: "Absolutely; this is Wagyu."

Premium, prohibitively priced, Japanese-style Wagyu, flame-grilled, garnished with Italian truffles, Spanish cured ham, aged balsamic vinegar, Champagne onions and popped onto a saffron- and truffle-dusted bun.

Isn't it all a little elaborate for a hamburger?

"Absolutely not," Dowding said. "Absolutely not."

Total cost of ingredients, the chain says, about $80 a throw.

By the time it gets to the counter, it sells for just shy of $200. For a burger!

So is it worth it?

"Orgasmic," one customer says.

Which is a lot to ask of a burger.

To some this is a burger - a high-end burger. It would have to be at $200 a pop. To others, though, it isn't a burger. It's grotesque on a bun.

"Outrageous," said Dave Tucker, with the anti-poverty group "War on Want."

Looks and sounds gross to tell you the truth. I wouldn't pay $2 for it, let alone $200, that's insanity. Do these people know that rising gas prices are HURTING US RIGHT NOW SO WE CAN'T SPEND THAT MUCH ON A FRIGGIN RESTAURANT DINNER LET ALONE A FRIGGIN BURGER!!!!

Sorry for shouting.

Who cares? As if the Obama dinner plates at $1-$10K are "worth" it? The food shortages inthe world have nothing to do with food availability and everyting to do with war. heck even whe the UN has food delivered on the ground it is stolen. One these countries decide civil war is worth less than food they will have food even in drought areas.

This burger is the cause of climate change. Cows. Methane. Yuppies driving gas guzzlers to get one in the drive through where they waste more than a quarter tank of gas, to get their burger.

And they better not be those salmonella laced ones that were recalled.

That 'Burger King' character in the commercials is kinda creepy too.

Sounds delicious ! It's more expensive than the foie gras burger at DB Modern in Manhatten. The most expensive ingredient is probably the truffles - but how could you taste the truffles with balsalmic vinegar in the recipe ? Hold the truffles and discount the price by 75%. Please !
