Tim Russert died the same day my sister did last week. His memorial services were grand; her service, befitting a special-ed teacher, was humble. They had nothing on the surface in common, yet they were both people of integrity, warm-hearted, sensible. Missing them both.

It still hurts. For me, it's not just Tim, but my dad. My dad died in 2003, and until now, I haven't really dealt with it.

It lingers. It throbs. Tears. Memories float up. Real tears. The phone rings, thank god, and... time passes.

What was, still is.

Humanity.

Firstly, I would like to thank you Tim for all you've done. You are just an amazing journalist I've ever seen.
You are thorough, genuine, easy & tough, friendly & truth-seeking; what an extra-ordinary man you are? I will surely miss you. One qustion remains unanswered within me since you died, why would you leave us so so sudden? Why now? etc.. But I know you have gone to "Meet the Lord". What a man you are Tim? I continued to learn lessons from the life you live and the manner of your departure. Thanks Tim, thank Tim. I pray God grant you mercy. Amen

Tim was a wonderful example of how Life should be Lived. The respect shown to him by everyone he came in contact with ---even his viewers--- is remarkable in a field as divisive as politics. It speaks volumes as to the kind of person he was and of the traits he and his wife have passed along to their remarkable son, Luke.

If you were Tim, could you think of a better sign to send back to your loved ones than the double rainbow that arched over the proceedings as mourners left the service? After playing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" taken from his iPod, it was such a wonderful 'sign' that he's doing GREAT and for us all to Keep the Faith.....at least that's how I chose to interpret it.

He will be sorely missed. I will join Tom Brokaw on election night with a toast ~
God Bless you Tim.

God Bless you Tim. WIthout instruction, you've shown so many of us how life is supposed to be when we all submit ourselves to our heavenly father. For years you never, denied, left or forgot to praise our Lord. You were the kind of Catholic most people aspire to be. Tim so many of us acknowledged this point about you. You never faltered and that in it self illuminated the love that God expects us to give to one another. By example, you taught us all something we were sorely lacking, yet now we know.
Thank You Tim For Spending Time with Us. Rest in Perpetutal Light. God Forever and Ever, Amen.

Beautiful service for a beautiful man. Luke you are truly your father's son. Your mother and father did a beautiful job. RIP Tim. Yes, he was so excited about this election. If you don't know who he was rooting for...guess?

I think it absolutely, terrible that a great man, and Interviewer can't be buried in peace, without the media making a circus out of it. The Media should be kept away from all such trying events as a funeral, and let the family morn without having their picture taken, and let them grieve the loss of a loved one. Shame on the media.

There is no way that a public figure such as Tim Russert could have been remembered, grieved, or buried in private. Get real! I thank the Russert family and the NBC family for sharing this occasion so generously with the rest of us. Tim Russert was loved and respected by millions who never met the man personally. Shame on you for begrudging us the privilege of getting to know him better. Even God made a grand public display on the day of his funeral. Did you see the Russert Rainbow?

Mr. Russert was one of my favorite tv broadcasters just a few weeks after I had arrived in America. You just know he could be trusted with what comes out of his mouth and a truly fair and honorable man. His being a good husband and father was exemplary. Such a unique combination of professionalism with compassion!

Godspeed, Russ. You will be missed!

The saddest thing to me, is his not being here to see the outcome of the election, he was so excited about it. :(

His son was amazing at the memorial today.

Luke is such a special young man. So much of Tim is able to be seen in him. I have been overwhelmed with grief over the loss of Tim. Yes, I'm from Buffalo. But no matter where I'd have resided, I would have really been impressed by Mr. Tim Russert.
I will miss him terribly. Sunday having always been my favorite day of the week will be forever changed.

This was Tim, the night of Barack's historic nomination:
" ...I'd love to be a school teacher tomorrow.." ,

Such genuine appreciation for the 'historic' meaning of that night. He was smiling, almost excited like a little kid, so happy to bear witness to history. He probably, never thought he'd see the day when both a woman and a black man, could take the white house, but there it was, and he felt so privileged to be a part of it! You could just see that glee in his eyes, his cheeks were red, he couldn't stop smiling!

This is the image of him I'll carry with me forever!

This genuine American journalist, not the least bit embarassed to show his personal emotion on what he called a 'historic night'!

You will be missed Tim. R.I.P.

P.S. Thank you for leaving the world a son, so much like you!
