Washington Times :

Voters thinking the Republican lines of attack against Sen. Barack Obama sound familiar aren't experiencing deja vu - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton previewed several of them during the primary campaign.

Democrats warned that the prolonged Obama-Clinton battle could give Republicans ammunition, and they have been proved right as Mrs. Clinton's harsher words resurface in campaign missives from Sen. John McCain and national, state and local Republicans.

It wasn't the prolonged primary to blame.

John McCain would have continued any negative campaign speeches used by any democrat in the primary race. The point here for voters is to recognize and defuse John McCain's attempt to create the illusion that the general election is an extension of the democratic primary and John McCain is now in the shoes of Hillary Clinton. It’s a wild attempt to take over Hillary's position as Obama's opponent. His campaign smoothly adopted Hillary's ads or content of ads so it seemed these issues were not just chronic but the substance of the general election campaign. He's also trying to sound as much as a democrat as he can without losing his republican positions. I guess based on the large group of Hillary's supporters and voters, the catch is worth it if he can get away with it.

We don't see Obama anywhere near the shoes of Huckabee or Romney. McCain, though, is willing to cut off some toes to fit into Hillary's. Okay, the toes are fake and Hillary is not Cinderella. But if the shoe doesn't fit------

No doubt, it has already been pointed out already:

It didn't work when Clinton used it, so why do McCain and chumps think it will work when they repeat it?

Well, it's a matter of perspective. It's easy to see the irony of Senator Rodham referring to Senator Obama as naive and inexperienced. She has marginally more experience and was allegedly naive enough to think Bill wasn't getting it on the side.

Senator McCain can question Senator Obama's experience from a position of authority. Senator McCain can comment on the naivety of Senator Obama's foreign policy ^plans^ from a position of authority. That perspective can make the difference.

HRC did make history, and not in a good way.

Writing the Republicans' material for them against the candidate in her own party. Shameful.

This is why Clinton as Obama's VP would be a nightmare ticket!!!!
She knew early on that she could not win.
However, that did not stop her from giving the rethugs more ammunition.
Not, that I believe it is going to work, the american people (i hope) are alot smarter than that.
I think 8 years of this country going down hill and not be any safer with a war costing billions weekly should be enough to wake people up.

Good lord. You'd think the Clinton's were the very first politicians to ever EVER criticize an opponent.

I mean, it's not like the Right Wing has ever thought about...oh...attacking a candidate.

And it's not even conceivable that they would go after Obama's inexperience, his "present" votes, or anything else under the sun.

Yeah...everything is still Clinton's fault, right?

It's the first time that I can remember in 40 years that one Dem said that the Repub would be a better pres. than the dem opponent. That is just not done. At least until this year.

I think Bill should just write a check. He makes 250k per speech and made millions on oil deals. They cannot possibly spend all their money and they only have one kid to inherit it.

Hill and Bill could write another book and replace that money.

If they have honor they will do it.

Criminy Jeepers! Have you never heard of the Rethuglican 11th Commandment, handed down by Ronald Reagan? "Thou shalt not speak ill of another Rethuglican."

HRC violated this basic concept in the most egregious of ways again and again and it is for this that she is rightly scorned by true Democrats.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:18 PM on 06/19/2008

Both camps certainly violated that commandment - I've thought that myself. The rethugs certainly would never gouge out their own eyes the way we have. Heck they still can't criticize GWB within the party, they just quietly watch while he implodes.

True Democrats include Clinton democrats who were none too pleased when Obama demeaned and diminished the Clinton years as insignificant. Who does he think he is? He was state senator in a piddly district in Chicago when the only two-term democratic president of our lifetime was in office.

McCain would never have come up with any of these obvious attacks by himself. The GOP would never have decided to attack Obama if it weren't for Hillary. It worked to get Hillary the nomination... Wait, none of that is true.

Duh, well, we figured as much. The best thing that Hillary Clinton can do for Obama at this point is go home and needlepoint, knit or bake cookies. No one wants her back stabbing putz on his campaign trail.

Not.Helping.

And wrong.

The best thing she can do is walk into a press meeting and cowgirl up. Eat crow. Plead Mia Culp, and admit some variation of the truth, she got caught up in the campaign, in the stress, activity, and said some things that were not true. If she wants to save face, she can say "that I have since learned about Sen. Obama." This gives her an out, lets her recant all the crap that she and her surrogates put out, and helps get the DNC closer to the healing and unity it needs to smash the GOP for a decade of progressive policies to be put in place.

Fo rmonths we were saying the attacks on Obama, from Clinton herself, must stop. You know what? She didn't. She made her bed and now she has to lie in it. In her quest to bring down the nominee to pull some kind of coup she succesfully turned off that pesky "activist" base as well as blacks. You are allowed to write whatever you wish, but you really don't have the right or power to stop people from voicing their displeasure with Hillary Clinton.

This is so obvious that I wonder if you are real, or a plant from Clinton's camp or the Republicans' .

It's not recycling Clinton's attacks, it's pointing out Obama's obvious weaknesses. McCain would have discovered them with or without Clinton's help, and both had a perfect right in a political contest to do so.

Senator Obama contested Senator Clinton, his fellow Democrat, on the issues, not on her character. This is the kind of political debate that is expected between two opponents from the same party. On the other hand, Senator Clinton devolved into attacking Senator Obama's character, in spite of the fact that she was warned time and again that she was feeding fodder to the Republicans. When the Republicans now attack Senator Obama, with reference to statements made by his former opponent, then they are using her attacks against him to attack him as well. Senator Clinton once again miscalucated her strategies, and once again took a risk that has backfired, but this time she will not bear the brunt of the backlash. Her party's nominee will.

Once she realized she was losing, her plan was to sabotage him and make it much harder for him to win.

Can you name a single example of Senator Clinton attacking Obama's character? Also, how do you defend Obama not-so-subtly attacking Clinton's character by implying she's in bed with lobbyists and that she doesn't represent change?

I think some of those Clinton supporters holding their breaths in anticipation of her getting tapped for VP, even if only as a courtesy, are beginning to turn blue. There aren't nearly as many as there were last week, but they still outnumber the trickle of genuine faithful who have been duped into voting against their own self interest by the fake Dems at PUMA. Time to take a breath or you're going to have one hell of a headache.

Even the most uninformed voters knew that this would happen. The Clintons and all of their die-hard supports were all about themselves and winning the nomination at any cost--they were never about the American people and needs of our country, inspite of rhetoric to the contrary. Remember her comments about her and McCain's qualfications compared to Obama's!

Come now, let's review exactly what HC said:

HC pointed out that both she and Mc Cane had more Washington experience. HC made the argument in the first place because there was little difference between her and O on the issues. In referring to Mc Cane, she was speaking to moderate crossover dems to get them to vote for her.

O reaffirmed HC's argument by painting HC as someone who had been around Washington and he was a fresh face that would bring change. So O agreed with HC that her argument was true.

O won the nomination because a razor thin majority of Dems preferred someone new and fresh to someone more experienced and traditional.

If anything, touting her experience in Washington helped O win the nomination. So what's the problem?

She said she and Flip-flop passed the CIC test-Obama had a speech. She claimed that oinly she could win the "white, working class vote",so O is unelectable. Hey, people in case you haven't noticed-OMG he's black!

Only she would look out the invisible people, white women.,as if O would not.He oinly has a 100% rating from NARAL.

She tried to steal the nomination from him,but somehow he stole the nomination from her . He followed the rules, that were made in part by her mouthpiece-Harold "we've been HI-Jacked " Ickes.

She has split the dem party with her racist, divisive campaign-but hey we are the Egg Heads and AA's-the real invisible people.

The problem is HRC lied and she continued to lie throughout the campaign and now the RNC is now using this against our candidate. She lied period. I mean really what experience does she have. Oh yeah right, the osmosis thingie.

It was not even so much what she said that was shocking to me re her and McCain's experience versus Obama's. It was the obvious contempt with which she said it, the look of disgust on her face. It was beyond demeaning to her fellow democrat. That was the moment in which I decided I could never support her, and it was a very revealing moment for so many who might have otherwise supported her. Her arrogance was beyond the usual egotism of a candidate running for the presidency.
