I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Steve Carell

Steve Carell returned to his old stomping ground when he guested on "The Daily Show" Wednesday night to promote "Get Smart." Carell played off his success since leaving and tried to give Stewart a cash tip and buy the show, deadpanning "I am so, so rich now." Stewart managed to break him, however, with a well-timed joke that had Carell snort water through his nose about 5 minutes in.

These two are so unfunny. I stopped watching Comedy News last December, Stewart's edge has vanished. Steve Carell is just another out-of-the-box predictable loony who makes cheap movies that only idiots enjoy. Unfortunately this country has a lot of idiots.

Sorry Steve, but I know Maxwell Smart and you are no Don Adams.

Just another example of how Hollywood takes a great tv show and ruins it by putting it up on the big screen. That and sequels are the ultimate signs of hackiness in Tinseltown.

He should never have left TDS - his solo efforts have proven lackluster. I could just throw up on "Evan Almighty" and "4- Year-old Virgin" - and there is no way we will watch the travesty remake of "Get Smart". I'm glad the original actors are not around to see this gawd awful embarrassment.

We gave him a chance- heck, many chances, but he is sadly not up to the task.

I totally agree. I too was a huge fan of Get Smart and all the great characters, the Chief, 99, Siegfried, and Hymie but this Carell leaves me cold. I've tried to find something amusing in him but I've since given up. He bores me to tears.
RIP Don Adams, there will never be another like you and this Steve Carell will just lead to chaos rather than KAOS.

To be fair, 40-YOV was a huge success, regardless of merit. The Office is one of the more popular shows on TV. And he was fantastic in Little Miss Sunshine.

But overall I agree: he never should have left TDS. His best work was there.

When Tina Fey was on the Daily Show she said she remembered Colbert and Carell from their days in Second City. She said one of them was a total hound and sleeping with EVERYBODY. And Jon Stewart said, "Well knowing them both, I think I know which one of them THAT was."

And now, so do we!

dumb@$$, she (and jon stewart) were joking.

She said someone was very popular with the ladies, not that someone was "sleeping with everybody" (although her tone sort of implied the latter).

If I had to guess, I'd give the title to Colbert.

This guy needs a hit real bad. And he knows this and so does the studio. They've given him four strong supporting actors around him and it's of course a remake that is known to an older demographic.

But this is way you see him everywhere doing press. It's b/c is Even Almightly being a huge disaster and Dan in Real Life not making any cash either.

Similar to Angie Jolie, they both need a hit and they're both everywhere doing press.

We only see them when they are selling their awful movies and there are still plenty of half-wits who will still pay to see them.

As it always seems when an ex-DS staffer comes back as a celeb, the interview was a disaster. It's usually just 6 minutes of painful, pointless joking around.

Go to the "Fresh Air" archives on NPR, if you want to hear a substantive interview with Steve Carell, the person, as opposed to Steve Carell the caricature.

This interview was horrible and boring as is whenever he's got a friend/comedian on. it turns into a pointless meandering fawn fest.

He's better with politicians and run of the mill guests.

I'm almost 70 and these three are my favorites too, so honest, they see all the hypocrisy and they make me laugh every single day.

I never thought in the 60's that I would be madly in love with 3 guys (young enough to be my sons--if I was a child bride) in Brooks Brother suits. Stewart, Carell and Colbert you are wonderful!

I agree. These guys are cross-generational. Stewart is at his best interviewing politicians or book promoters. Too often the celebrity interviews misfire, but, even on its least inspired nights, this show trumps the so-called news shows.
