Whoopi Goldberg On Barbara Walters' Sex Life: "You Do Not Think Of Her Bumpin'"

Whoopi Goldberg appeared on the "Late Show" with David Letterman last Friday, where she and Dave discussed Barbara Walters' revelations of a steamy sex life in her recent memoir, Audition.

"Are you in the book, Dave?" Whoopi asked Letterman, prompting the host to express surprise that Walters was "out there gettin' it done."

Whoopi explained that she was surprised not by the list of guys who earned a notch on Barbara's bedpost but rather by the fact that Walters opened up about her past trysts. "You think of Barbara Walters, you think about her making actors cry. You think about her talking to Anwar Sadat," Whoopi said. "You do not think of her bumpin'."

I have to say that hearing that Ed Brooke regularly visited Barbara's love rotunda lowered my opinion of him. He could have and should have done much better. That is because I remember when Walters was still on the Today Show. Her presence was largely ornamental. That her career since then has largely been symbolized by lightweight celebrity interviews is hardly surprising.
