LOS ANGELES — Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's love for children is by no means limited to their own: The couple has donated $1 million to help kids affected by the war in Iraq, the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict announced Wednesday.

The organization will distribute the donation, made through the couple's Jolie-Pitt Foundation, to four organizations working on behalf of children who have lost parents, homes and schools in Iraq. Children in the U.S. who have lost parents in the conflict will also benefit.

"These educational support programs for children of conflict are the best way to help them heal," said Jolie in a written statement from Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, which she co-chairs.

"We hope to encourage others to give to these great organizations," Pitt added in the statement.

The money will be divided between the Armed Services YMCA Operation Hero Program, which provides military children with counseling and educational support; Women for Women International, which will provide books, school supplies and other basic necessities to Iraqi women and children; the International Rescue Committee, which will repair three schools and offer classes for more than 2,500 students; and NineMillion.org, which will give school uniforms and learning materials to more than 2,000 displaced Iraqi kids.

Last year, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation gave more than $300,000 to support the International Rescue Committee's relief program for Darfur refugees.

Jolie, who's expecting twins, has said the babies are due in August. She and Pitt have four children: Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh, 2.

I really admire Hollywood celebrities. They are always giving money to charity. No wonder our celebrities is what the rest of the world loves most about America.

Angelina Jolie reminds me very much of another great humanitarian, Audrey Hepburn, who dedicated her later years to helping children in Africa.

I think Angelina changed Brad’s life. I also think Brad fell in love with Angelina because he saw a truly good person in Angie. Angie has never been pretentious and always followed her own drum beat. Angie once said about "acting" was a stupid job that pays well so she can support her cause. All those years in the past when Angelina was behaving recklessly was only her path to find her true self and calling. Brad would never have become the person he is today if he had stayed with Jennifer, for Jenny always seemed a bit superficial.

Thank you. Maybe Haliburton and all the other no-bid Bush/Cheney croney companies could chip in as well. After we have destroyed the infrastructure there, these are the lucky billionares who get to rebuild it all back up! How about the oil companies- Exxon Mobil, Shell, Total and BP- who just gained no-bid contracts for Iraqi oil? Maybe they could spare a few billion of their billions a year in profit and help not only the Iraqis but maybe a fund for our injured soldiers? How about it?

I think that because of what happened to the Dixie Chicks, United States entertainers are deathly afraid to express their opinions. They realize that to criticize the Bush administration will be career suicide. It takes real courage to speak truth to power.

I just love this couple so much for all the good they do in the world. They are a beautiful couple, both inside and out. Instead of some trying to tell them what to do, how to do it or where to spend their money, why don't these same people trying doing a little charity work themselves? It would serve us all right to do good... God knows there's no such thing as too much good in this crazy world we live in.

They look good and they do good. A million dollars is extremely generous. Beautiful and generous is a rare combination. They look like a million bucks and they gave a million bucks. They deserve all the good publicity and attention they get, and all the haters at huffingtonpost are just jealous because they can't command that much attention for their good works.

...assuming that the haters DO good work!

Hollywood and the rest of us can learn a thing or two about charity from this amazing and generous couple!

Exactly. A million dollars is a lot of money. How many of the haters have ever given anywhere near a million to charity? Oh what's that, you don't have a million to give? Well maybe if you got a job instead of blogging all day you would.

With all the negative comments I keep seeing, I figured I'd repost here what neoconhypocrites posted below. Really, if you don't know about the good that Angelina/Brad have done here at home and abroad, or their reasons for doing it, you should really look closer at them. And, dare I say, open your heart. It's rare to find really *good* people in Hollywood, doing really good things with their money. Don't ignore them when you come across them!

"I met people in devastated parts of New Orleans who asked that I share with the world how kind and generous Angelina and Brad have been. They talked about how the couple would hang around dilapidated neighborhoods when there were no cameras around and how they were genuinely interested in community recovery. They said they never again wanted to hear a bad word about the couple.

C'est si bon!"

I (heart) Brangelina.
