p.s. the only wasted vote, is a vote for McCain.

Don't hope that libertarians are closet republicans. Obama and McCain are big government lovers, two peas in a pod, and I'm not voting for either one.

Bob Barr is running as a Libertarian, and the purpose is to build the Libertarian party to major party status.

Not overnight, not even this election cycle. take a party, just as a theoretical, on this type of trajectory: 1% of the vote, 5% of the vote, 20% of the vote, 33% of the vote...what you see is a party growing, and over the course of several election cycles, growing into prominance.

The libertarian party is about restoring a government focused on individual liberties and the proper role of government as a protector of those liberties, rather than an entity unto itself.

The use of perjoratives such as 'spoiler' is meant simply to avoid discussing a topic republicans and democrats don't want to think about, which is their monopoly, or duopoloy on power is going to be replaced, and to suggest that you wasted your vote by not voting for 'one of the two evils.'

Bob Barr doesn't have to win, he just has to take it to the next level... he is far and away doing better than any other LP candidate before him, including 1988's candidate, Ron Paul.

I wil be part of that building process...Bob Barr won't win, but he will build a base, that someday, will win, and if it takes 8,12, even 16 years, then thats what it takes, I'm in it for the long haul, because this country is worht the effort, and the task, of reform, must be accomplished.

Barr's only claim to fame is the aborted impeachment trial -- not really enough to ingratiate himself with Republicans, let alone Democrats.

Is that an Arcade Fire song in the background?

From the Wikipedia article about the band:

"Win Butler has been a vocal supporter of Barack Obama since the end of the New Hampshire Primary. Arcade Fire performed two free concerts for Obama in Cleveland and Nelsonville, Ohio on March 2, 2008 and March 3, 2008 before the March 4 primary. The band, with Superchunk, performed another two free concerts for Obama on May 1 in Greensboro, North Carolina, and on May 2, 2008 in Carrboro, North Carolina before the state's May 6 primary."

Yeah, he's really running. He was a congressman for years and pushed hard for Clinton's impeachment.
