Google And 'Family Guy' Creator Seth MacFarlane Strike Deal For Web Series

LOS ANGELES -- Google is experimenting with a new method of distributing original material on the Web, and some Hollywood film financiers are betting millions that the company will succeed.

In September, Seth MacFarlane, creator of "Family Guy" on television, will unveil a carefully guarded new project called "Seth MacFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy." Unlike "Family Guy," which is broadcast on Fox, this animation series will appear exclusively on the Internet.

The innovative part involves the distribution plan. Google will syndicate the program using its AdSense advertising system to thousands of Web sites that are predetermined to be gathering spots for Mr. MacFarlane's target audience, typically young men. Instead of placing a static ad on a Web page, Google will place a "Cavalcade" video clip.

Google is the "Dubai" of the Internet, there's nothing too risky or too 'big' for them, and they can never go wrong, keep it up Google, we're all behind you as long as you are keeping your services free :P

First- I wish anyone in Animation well. It is a tough business, and just getting a show on the air is quite an accomplishment.

Second - I hate this show. Hate it. I hate that I know their names. I hate listening to their voices. I won't turn on Cartoon Network to watch Venture Brothers on Sunday night until I am sure that no Family guy episode is still running.

Thrid - In my hard heart of hatred, I do have a soft spot for evil baby Stewie. If he managed to kill all of the others, and the show was only about him, I would watch. The others must be erased from human memory.

Not big on Family Guy, but I was reading an interview on the website All Hip Hop.com. They were interviewing the producer for the group Outkast, and I caught this little tidbit. Could this be the well guarded somethingorother they're talking about?

AllHipHop.com: What was going on out in LA?

Mr. DJ: I was out there for two years doing the West Coast Camp David, but I just shut it down. At first it was very productive, but then it turned into a party everyday, no sleep and girls all the time. So I had to shut it down, and come back to Atlanta and get focused (Laughs) It wasn’t all in vein though, cause I met Common out there and that’s how we got that thing going. And my next door neighbor out there was the guy who draws Family Guy, so him and I and a guy who does the scripts for The Simpsons got together. We put together a company called Camp Tune and we’re doing a Camp David cartoon right now also. We’ve got the mock-ups right now so hopefully we’ll be able to bring it soon. I can’t say too much about it right now, cause I don’t want anyone to steal our ideas. It took a big leap forward around the time the writer’s strike came into effect, cause nobody was working.
