Mccain Trade

John McCain is lighting out for Latin America, because maybe they have some electoral votes or something! And he wants everyone to know that he is in favor of the Colombian Free Trade Agreement - and not just in some Mark Penn Microtrending way! So McCain cut an advertisement on the matter - thereby satisfying the needs of Sith Lord and Colombia lobbyist Charlie Black - in which he makes it clear that America "can't go back on our word on free trade promises with Mexico, Canada, Central America or anyone else," no matter how bad it gets for American workers. Also, if more jobs are created in Latin America, "more of them will be able to stay in their country." If you don't know what he is referring to by "them," please hie thee to the Wikipedia, and look at the entry for "Tom Tancredo!"

Also: Pretty flags!

Nice try John, "the idea that free trade will equal more jobs created in latin and central will mean more money flowing to the poor, keeping more potential illegal immegrants at home."
More jobs in those countries will cause MORE money to flow to the already very wealthy families in those upper classes. These jobs will do very little in the arena of "trickle down" economy in those countries, because this concept is unknown there. I have worked for some very wealthy people in latin america, so I write this post from personal experience.
It's a good thing that the rich in latin and central america can not vote for the GOP and McGrampy's pandering to them.
I shake my head in wonder daily at the GOP.

People in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, etc., need to take a really long look at what John Mc is actually saying here!! He is shoving the cause of their difficulties in their face and giving second helpings.

Lousy-- and so now is the time to ask-- WHY is Obama capitulating on NAFTA and free trade? Where is the strong language and response from Obama-- here is an opportunity to earn points with voters...

Where is he capitulating? Gimme a break! Stop side seat driving... the Primaries are over you know...

The Primaries are over you know... Obama is not capitulating on NAFTA, unless you know something no one else does.

WTF!!!!

Don't we already have an agreement with Mexico that Bill Clinton signed before he left office? YES

How is that agreement working out for the people of Mexico? NOT SO WELL

There is a great selection of sweat shop factories set up just across from our border that are not so old. The working conditions are harsh with almost no pay;
there are no factory safety laws to enforce;
people travel through ongoing gun fights between police & drug cartels to get to work;
female employees & children are frequent victims of sex traffickers..

Someone, please show me the real benefit Americans get from Nafta. Don't try the old 'open market' & 'trading opportunities' lines, because I make a special point to check labels for their origins every time I shop. A trip through Walmart, Target & a few mall stores nearby tell a very sad tale of cheap imports from clothing to housewares - mostly made in China.

I look for American made products & don't mind paying more for their quality. They are getting harder to find & that makes me angry.

Before we start spewing the virtues of more Nafta agreements without provisions for environment & worker safety, I want the tax breaks for businesses who move production out of America repealed.

Yes, I must admit that I really felt talked down to. Like a preschooler.

Not to mention he is practically celebrating sending jobs to central american so they can have them and then not want to come to the US because w don't have any jobs for them anyhow!

Do you think americans care about creating jobs in other countries? Hey McWalking Stick, explain to us exactly how creating a job in Mexico for 3 dollars an hour translates to more jobs here in the US.

What is he running for Prresident of Mexico or King of Latin america? Hey John you think you can get away with Pandering to those in another country? They don't vote for you in case you did not know. Most people who are jobless in this country are tired of Politicians like you sending our jobs elsewhere. Sending Jobs to Mexico only serves one purpose, it puts AMERICANS out of work period, and does nothing for the problem of illegal immigrantion. We have sent all of our Jobs to Mexico over the last 20 years or so and it has not changed the number of illegals one bit. John use your head worry about the problems in this country before you go sucking up to other countries.

This is unbelievable--what is he trying to do, raise money in Latin America? He has sold once to Bush and the Swift Boaters and now to Latin America.

Charlie Black is a Columbia lobbyist.... so it makes sense ...
kind of like Mark Penn was the same....

Obama's plan for the unification of the western nationis, including Latin America is the best thing that I have seen in my lifetime... we have ignored our own hemisphere..... EU will have some competion with AU.... Americas United.....

If I am the Obama team, I would ask why McCain is concerned about creating jobs in other countries?

And "so more of "them" can stay in their own country? Ummm racist much McCain?

    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:56 PM on 07/01/2008

Not really... Obama has said much of the same... in order to reduce illegal immigration to our nation, we must build up the other nations of our hemisphere...

I am an Obamaniac... so here is little that he could say or do that would sway me from my vote for him.. but in this point he is clear... we have illegals here because we offer more to them than their own countries... so I believe that is what McCain means.... not said in the best of ways... but said all the same..

McCain has canted more and more to Obama's issues... I think he wants to be Obama... the only problem he has is this... HE IS NOT OBAMA!!! He is a Republican and right now, he is saying and doing anything to get elected.... Obama doesn't have to continue on 4 more years of Bush... I have seen it and I hope that the general electorate has seen it.. He is the PINNOCHIO Candidate... he will lie as much as possible to get himself in office and then just continue on as business as usual..

More of the Oligarchy can stay in their country. The campesinos will have to flee or starve to death as did the Mexicans after Nafta.

I heard that Columbia is a pretty brutal place and that the government murders trade union leaders, is that really the change we can believe in Johnny? Less worker rights and benefits and richer CEOs?
