DANIEL RADCLIFFE has compared the new Hogwarts blockbuster to Scottish drug flick Trainspotting.

He says his sixth movie outing, Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, has moments like the cult 1996 film.

Daniel told Empire magazine: "There's a fair amount of sexual energy and drug parallels. We have a couple of Trainspotting moments.

"That's two films I never thought would be mentioned in the same breath."

So does that mean we'll see Harry diving into the worst toilet at Hogwarts to fetch his wand?

There was just one promise from Daniel -- the dark parts are so dark, they're black.

But director DAVID YATES revealed: "We're opening with a big attack. We'll bring a major London landmark crashing down."

Note to Harry Potter, so to speak...

To maintain your safe point when you think this story is really about YOU, think not QUITE.

Detect the characters that educate seeth the masses, and stirred up chance in your reality of your real area of control.

You should be able to handle this.

If not, chance of safety...might make this a lesson worth learning from political circles.
Avoid hostility , painstakingly find out who is responsible for this hostility....

Never drink after midnight.

It would appear the directors of these movies are moving to darker and darker places which I find unpleasant. Irrespective of what and where the books go, showing this darkness vs what your imagination does seems disquieting.

I enjoyed the First Pirates of the Caribbean movie, the second was almost as much fun but started getting darker and the third one was just plain stupid in it's scenes of horror and darkness. I remember my niece saying she wished she had never seen the third one because it "wasn't very nice".

And that seems to be the problem with the Potter series. Going darker to the point of being unpleasant movies and frankly I don't think this is what the fans want nor do I think it's what should be done.

BUT for some reason directors seem to think dark realities, edginess, and horror will get them some sort of respect as opposed to making movies the entire family would enjoy.

Oh well, I ain't in charge, but if I was....

Perhaps if you read the books -- not sure whether or not you have -- you would understand why the movies must go darker.

The books are no walk in the park. The material that the story evolves in order to deal with is quite serious, and quite adult. Brushing these books off as mere 'children's lit' is wrong. The story of Harry Potter speaks to everyone, regardless of age.

And particularly in the final installments, the subject matter is horrifyingly dark. The movie-makers would not be doing justice to the story if they didn't invoke these subject matters in the films. And actually, Half-Blood Prince is a bit 'lighter' overall than the books that come both before and after it.

And yes, I am a Harry Potter 'geek'.

Yes I have read the books, if you re-read my post you will see I did mention that particular thing.

I'm just saying that going to dark will turn off your core audience. The books were dark BUT sometimes showing that darkness so vividly may backfire.

The books were indeed aimed at children but as Uncle Walt used to say, Children of all ages.

I just feel going darker and darker will turn people off.

The films, so far, have followed the books, which do move to darker and more serious themes to the end. It's part of J.K. Rowling's genius. Book 1, when the main characters are 11, is aimed at 11 year olds. Book 7, when they are 18, is aimed at 18 year olds.
They never reach the level of train spotting and never go beyond a pg-13 rating (they do get pretty violent- people die).
You should read the books, Liberalbuzz, and then see the films. I'm a 54 year old male, and they made me laugh and cry, and think.

Trainspotting starred Ewan McGreggor from Star Wars. You remember, he played the new Obi. Well really the old, oh forget it - you figure it out.

Anyway,

Daniel is so cute. I love him.

I loved you in all the Harry Potters and the December Boys. Just brilliant.

Not if trainspotting is about a Drug addict and his friends all getting into a big drug deal and then Harry ends up with thte cash and leaves some for Ron, I am going to die.

Maybe he meant that Americans will not be able to understand the accents used in the movie. I don't know any Americans who saw Trainspotting who didn't wish there'd been subtitles!

Ha Ha!! I'm American. Are you American? Seriously, I liked Trainspotting, had to look away from some of it, but liked the movie. I just felt as if I had missed some key points with the lack of subtitles. Speak English!!

There are no drugs or orgies in Half Blood Prince. I think Radcliffe meant it metaphorically.

The Halfblood Prince is a lot darker than any of the previous books. The Harry Potter series is also about the character's coming of age, emotionally, physically and mentally.

It is at the end of Goblet of Fire that the series almost stops being for young children, with the death of Cedric Diggory. Book 5 (Order of the Phoenix) has Harry losing his Godfather, Sirius. (This isnt supposed to happen in children's fiction? Not the Hollywood sort anyway.)

I've recently re-read Halfblood Prince, in anticipation of the film and am currently rereading Book 7, Deathly Hallows.

Its a cliche. But the films (altho spectacular in their own cinematographic rights, esp special effects) do not capture the finer nuances of character and storyline. Obviously. The two mediums differ greatly. But anyone who has read the books, especially the last 3, realises that its emotionally wrenching for the protagonist.

As works of modern popular fiction, the scope of the Harry Potter series, the fictional world, the attention to detail, is superlative.

The writing's pretty good too.

I think kids will be reading Harry Potter in a hundred years. Not in books, mind you, but on some high tech gadget.

Does this mean they'll be showing ALL of Radcliffe like they did Ewan McGregor in "Trainspotting"? (For the kids' sake, I hope not. But, maybe they could manage a "special edition" for us mums...Radcliffe's photos online after "Equis" showed him to be BIG guy!)
Here's hoping the next Potter film is better than the last.
