Like fireworks, the Nathan's hot dog eating contest is a fourth of July institution. Here is a video of a man competing against a bear at hot dog eating. This video is patriotic because it involves many things Americans hold dear, like competition, overeating and vapid television programming. The video is also metaphorically patriotic, as it features a man competing with a bear (the bear being a symbol of the USSR, once America's greatest enemy). The metaphor works really well if you ignore the fact that the the bear wins in the end, and that the man in the video is Japanese.

Here is a clip from a very controversial documentary about America's Independence.

Lastly, a clip making the claim that all patriots are really just puppets of the government.
