George Bush

The AP reports that protesters repeatedly interrupted President Bush as he gave a speech on the 4th of July at Monitcello:

Anti-war protesters shouted out calls for Bush's impeachment on nine occasions during Bush's brief remarks, and the president responded by saying he agrees that "we believe in free speech in the United States of America."[...]

The 150 or so demonstrators, from a variety of groups opposing Bush's policies on the war in Iraq, also rallied along the path of the president's motorcade to Monticello.

CNN reports that the various protesters yelled such things as "war criminal" and "He has brought fascism to this shore."

Watch the video.

Some pictures of the protesters.

Glad I wasn't there - talk about an inner war...

"Respect Jefferson - the man and Founding Father whose home I am at, or heckle Bush...".

Of course, I would have eventually remembered Jefferson's "Wall of Separation" letter (http://www.usconstitution.net/jeffwall.html), and heckled Bush in HONOR of Jefferson.

You're not kidding anyone, there'd have been no such internal conflict. The further left , the greater likelihood one will leap up and make an ass of him or herself.

Was reading in the paper yesterday about some kindred spirits of yours in Berkley. They've been living in a tree, in a landscaped area of the campus, for about a year and a half. Seems when passersby don't pay them enough attention they throw poop at them from the buckets they use in the absence of natural indigenousness tree-toilets.

You must be so proud to be a liberal.

i wonder what would happen
if everyone who disagreed with bush
and his war crimes,
would stop paying their credit card bills in protest?
all at one time - all now.

what would that do to our country?
certainly, protesting doesn't mean anything.
but what if we all started to hit america where it lives -
in corporate rape?

methinks something big would happen.
all you have to lose is your credit rating -
and america has no credit rating at all.
it's all been blown on a stupid president,
who turned out to be an evil war mongerer.

p.s. turning a profit in healthcare is one of the most evil
concepts ever considered by mankind - america's black soul is being revealed:
bush/iraq/hmo's.

the rich sleep in peace, while everyone else drowns in debt and death.
take matters into your own hands.

government and corporations will not give you a better day.

Amen to that...The MAN tells us we must do this. Well, let's all just be as irresponsible as this administration has been and see what happens!

tO ME IT SEEMS UNCONSTITUTIONAL, THAT THEY'RE TRYING TO MAKE youtube, give out information ABOUT THE PEOPLE THAT WATCH CERTAIN VIDEOS, there'S A LOT ON VIDEOS very unfavorable to gw bush, could that be why they're doing this?

Excellent idea, but perhaps we should demand controls on interest rates, like was proposed by the Clintons, but quickly acquiesced to the demands of corporations. I think it is time for a ten million man and woman march to demand change. The center of the country is to the left or at least more progressive than either the democrats or the republicans. Nancy is not listening to us. This is what we should express and demand:

1. Impeachment
2. Express our disgust with government
3. Demand the elimination of the power of lobbying groups
4. Demand a workable plan for the economic independence of the media from corporations
5. Demand a policing organization for accuracy in reporting, identifying of propagandizing, and reporting of silencing of important stories
6. Send a message to the dems that they might be removed by their own party

Great comment. Though I am a conservative, I have to give you credit for being one of the first I have ever seen here actually advocate doing something creative and constructive. The only other thing that you could have done to have made the comment truly excellent, would to have provided some links or addresses.

I don't have much use for liberals and I didn't serve thirty years in the Army to defend the right to blog. I did serve though, to defend your right to plant your foot in the arse of our representatives in an appropriate and civilized way. Kudos to you.

I hope you wingnuts stop paying your credit card debt!

It will destroy your credit. They'll seize your property and auction it. You won't qualify to live in my neighborhood, you'll be vetted out when applying for a job and hopefully end up living under a bridge, where the rest of us know where you are and can keep an eye on you.

Turning a profit on healthcare first occurred in 10,000 BC when the first midwife delivered Bambam to Fred and Wilma Flintstone.

If you are drowning in debt, I suggest you cut up your credit cards and live within your means.

It's a good world, great country and a damned fine time to be alive. Buck up sparky.

Who the f*** are those people that are pulling away citizens doing what is they're constitutional right? I think it's time we stop allowing these ******** (can' use that word here anymore) to stomp on our right to gather and protest what we feel is wrong. These so called law enforcement folks are going too far. It's time for us to stop them. Do they know what the rights of the people are? Do they care? Even if they are just doing what they're getting paid to do, that is no excuse. Didn't work after WWII and should not work now. And should never work in America, period!!!!!!!

They were denying Bush his right to free speech. You wouldn't want that to happen would you?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:08 PM on 07/07/2008

If Bush is truly a 'war criminal' then let him be found guilty in a Tribunal at the Hague.
Or don't you believe in innocence until proven guilty, you self-congratulatory little 'patriot', you?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:57 AM on 07/07/2008

unfortunately, the u.n. or iraq would have to ask for an investigation from the tribunal, but the u.n. is under our thumb, and we are still holding iraq at gunpoint . . .besides, all the evidence is probably locked up in dick cheney's safe

don't worry, though, history will hold bush and his accomplices to account, and they will be so reviled around the world that monticello 2008 will look like a love fest

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:28 AM on 07/07/2008

Did the children of Iraq get a tribunal before they were butchered, driven over or blown to bits by your bombs. No? Didn't think so.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:59 AM on 07/07/2008

We're not talking about the children of Irag, Try to stay on topic. We are talking about self-righteous,self-proclaimed "patriots" who by their own implication live and breath the rule of law and worship the Costitiution. Yet these same people zealously proclaim someone guilty, in this case, of being a "war criminal", without that accused having had a fair trial. Such behavior in antithetical to Contstitutional principles and is pure hypocrisy on their part.
Do not mistake my message as a defense of Bush. It is anything but. In my mind, American troops belong on American soil and nowhere else. They do not belong engaged in military adventures on foreign soil at any time. Not now in Iraq and Afghan. Not in 1991 in Iraq. Not in Bosnia. Not in Somalia or anywhere else. The military should be engaged only if we are attacked. And in that case, we have a whole arsenal of weapons far more efficient than ground troops and they are what should be deployed.

MORE, I WANT MORE PROTESTING! People that protest this joke of a president and the vice president are highly looked upon in mine eyes :D Get out there everyone, it's us versus them. We are stronger in numbers, we must try.

beyond protesting, we need civil disobedience . . . the status quo should not be allowed to stand unchallenged

I agree with civil disobedience. The people of this country could unite in non-violent protest and force the dems to put impeachment back on the table. How would we organize this???

This is the perfect example of why the AOWL Presdient only speaks in front of hand-picked, pre-screened, pre-oathed neo-con approved audiences.
As soon as he speaks to REAL AMERICANS he gets a taste of how things really are in America.
His handlers usually try to keep the truth from this AWOL child at all costs but, every now and then the AWOPL Coward has to speak to REAL AMERICANS and it never goes well!
But, becasue of the protection afforded him by his handlers, I bet in his vastly limited mind, he thinks he's doing a bang up job.
How else can you explain that foolish grin their AOWL Presdient always seems to have on his smug confederate face?

When Bush speaks to real Americans he doesn't have a problem. However, when these speeches are open, there are always a few loons willing to make an ass of themselves and be dragged away.

What REAL AMERICANS think, is that here is another example of loutish, extreme and oafish behavior from the far left. When you graduate and get out into the real world, you'll calm down and meet a lot more "real Americans.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:06 PM on 07/06/2008

Yeah, right - you mean meet the 80% of "real Americans" that think this country has been headed in the wrong direction after the last 8 years of the nightmarish Bush regime.

My favorite part is when some Loyal Bushy robot shouted to the protesters to "Shut UP and sit down" only seconds after the AWOL Coward from Crawford told the audience how much he and his fans love FREE SPEECH!
If you still support this republican AWOL Coward you are DEFECTIVE!!!

i could have respected bush if he'd addressed the protesters, acknowledging their beef but asking them to permit the ceremony to continue uninterrupted . . . but he is so unnatural, so devoid of real feeling, that he just grins and goes on with his prepared speech

My son is reading Orwell's 1984 and he said he could not imagine anything like that ever happening because people would rise up before it ever got to the point it did in the book...I think how so many americans swallowed the lies and in the book everyone just accepted lies even if just the day before a story was different they just pretended it never happened. So many Americans just accepted and pretended it didn't matter...look at us now. I know several people who voted for Bush on the premise of stem cell research...wow that was such a big deal then. You barely hear a word about stem cell research now...I asked one of my 'friend's how was that stem cell vote working for her now?

The only problem is that this a naturalization ceremony for 75 new American citizens. It was not a political event, but a handful of professional narcissists (Code Pink) decided that it was ok to ruin these folks' special day.

Maybe next they can find a birthday party to crash and take over, or a wedding.

If those soon to be American citizens think that sitting quietly while an AWOL Coward lies to them for the ten thousandth time is being an American, maybe we should re-write the Naturalization Exam!

Because they've obviously missed the point of being an America...that goes for BUSHIES as well!

Yep, you could rise up off your ass and vote or write a letter to your congressman who's busy providing everything Bush asks for. Sorry, I forgot, it's easier for you to sit here and blog. Never mind.

The only regrettable thing is that it tampered with an important ceremony.

The good is that as citizens, those participants will know that FREEDOM of SPEECH cannot be VETOED, SUPPRESSED, FISA'ed or BLACKLISTED. That memory (in a reverse-thought way) will show those HONORABLE, newly minted citizens that our constitution is not to be MANIPULATED or REDACTED for ANY administration's wont.

Those recipients can say, "I was there when America took FREEDOM back, and that there was no fear in CALLING IT THE WAY IT IS."

Maybe now the admin knows that Americans are finally keeping score, and waiting to get the keys back, with a cardboard box for them on the last day.

Don't forget to stop @ HR and turn in the ID card.

Nothing is regrettable here. This president has been so isolated from the public that any time people have an oppurtunity to voice there opposition to his policies it is appropriate.
