US News and World Report printed a short piece about GOP fears that the President's relevance is shrinking beyond already dismal levels.

Allies Worry About President's Schedule

Some of President Bush's allies tell the Political Bulletin they are embarrassed and angry that the White House seems to be wasting Bush's time on frivolous events when much of the country is suffering through economic hard times. "Look at the schedule for Monday," says an outside Bush adviser. "A highlight of his day was witnessing a tee ball game. ... He is being reduced to child's play." The adviser says Bush also signed a supplemental appropriations bill for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan on Monday, but he adds that it didn't get much coverage and that the tee ball game set the wrong tone. There is growing concern among Bush allies that the Democrats will effectively portray the President and GOP candidate John McCain as out of touch. Some GOP insiders now predict that the Republicans will lose at least five seats in the Senate and 15 to 20 in the House, and it could get worse if gasoline prices continue to soar and the public remains in a disgruntled mood.

In order to win this election, the republicans are going to have to appeal hard to their base: racist bigots, immigrant haters , ignorant evangelicals, gay bashers and very rich CEO's,like they always do. As amazing as it is, this is going to be a close election. and there are alot of them out their. so this administration has nothing to worry about. they don't care what americans think of them, and haven't for seven and a half years.

It's been much longer than 7 1/2 years, it's just been more visible over the past 7 1/2 years.

Bush is an embarrassment on American History, an anomaly that should have never taken place. The only thing he is being reduced to his 'real' self as he has no business being President in the first place. The faster this child leaves the white house, the better it will be for all of us.

Bush is doing the only thing he's capable of doing....being a cheerleader. Cheney has been running the country for 7 1/2 years. Its taken this long for the GOP to see the truth.

When a nuclear attack finally happens in this country, Bush will be photographed shirtless catching some rays.

The t-ball photo op was no doubt yet another attempt to imprint GWB on the public mind as a regular guy. Why shouldn't it work now when Americans swallowed it for two election cycles running?

With the destruction of America that has taken place in the last 7.5 years it would take the resurrection of America's greatest leaders to put this country back together again.

We were duped because we allowed ourselves to be duped.

Well, look, W. has failed to govern as he campaigned in 2000. By 2004, Kerry was put up as a flop - a close race, but a flop. Some of us didn't recover from September 11th as fast as others and we wanted to fight to win in Iraq. Okay, so now things are pretty clear that the Surge should have made it's appearance on Day 1 in Baghdad, and by doing much less, for much too long, was a disaster. Other than on the war in Iraq and the Supreme Court picks, Bush has been AWOL from his innauguration onward, but I believe his '04 re-election hinged on those two issues. The war thing would not work today. The Supreme Court thing will hold as one issue. People see that abortion has been inexcusably used as birth control and that it is inargueably torture, and unmerciful, on unborn babies. Most of the people for abortion could never perform one because the procedure is barbaric. It makes fools of those who support abortion and then whine about panties on the head and water up the nose of killers at Guantonomo and defies seriousness. Christianity is here to stay and abortion will continue to be an albotross around the necks of democrats. I think Obama knows this, so he should probably be cut some slack by the Left, who are busy contracepting themselves out of existence, proceeding to hang by their own self made noose.

Rita, the bush administration has used the abortion issue and the gay marriage issue to keep conservative voters voting for them and to distract these same voters from the fact that they have literally given this county away to their corporation controlling buddies. Their corporation pals have made no telling how much money off of the situation in Iraq. If anyone can name one bill that has been passed during bush's presidency that pits corporate interests against the individual and benefits the individual INSTEAD of the corporation, please respond with the example. As far as I've been able to tell, every bill that has passed and every supreme court decision during this administration has been to the benefit of corporate interests, and many MANY at the expense of the individual. The bush administration views the individual in the same way as they view the blades of grass in their back yard - only important when needed but otherwise dispensable. I'm not saying that your views are not important. What I am saying is that we need to also look at issues that are not as flashy as abortion and gay marriage. If we continue to let politicians do as they like with our laws and our future as it pertains to the individual while they keep up us fighting amongst ourselves over these hot button issues, sooner or later we as individuals will no longer have the power to change things.

oh my! so it is the Republican stance that abortion of a fetus(not a baby) is wrong and torture but it is ok to torture people who have not been tried (no habeus corpus)? What twisted logic. Just to note I am pro choice not pro abortion. That means I do not think Abortion should be used as birth control but the govt has no right to choose for a woman. You so called Christians do not want sex ed inschools, do not want birth control handed out and cheer abstinence only programs which have been shown to not work. As I said twisted Republican logic. Oh and one more thing you all seem not to give a dam* about children who are already born who are living in poverty. God forbid you might have to give up something to really help others. Faux christians and their fake self righteousness make me sick.

Little Georgie may engaging in "child's play" in public, but in private he and The Big Dick with all their minions are working arduously to complete the dismantling of The Constitution, the rule of law, and the effectiveness of the Federal Government.
For everyone hoping for that glorious day in January when Little Georgie peacefully transitions power to Barak Obama... there exists great risk that this will not transpire. To believe that The Big Dick will willingly let loose his iron grip on the reins of power is tantamount to believing in the tooth fairy. Even his extra-legal extension of Secret Service protection may not be sufficient to assuage his lust for power and all its trappings.

Be afraid... be very afraid

And if you go back and look at the film of that day, take a good look at his face right after the guy whispered in his ear. He looks like he's trying very hard, straining even, not to burst into one of his little giggle fits.

Only the innocence of a child could entertain that man's presence. Does anyone remember the footage of him when his security agents informed him about what was taking place in NYC on 9/11 - he was reading books then too!

Kinda reminds me of Bush clearing brush at his ranch in August 2001.

Meanwhile, what's Cheney up to? Getting his ducks in a row with PDD 51, martial law and the impending war in Iran.

Child's play? No. Likely just hoping to lull us all into a false sense of security, these guys being masters of the game.
