BUTTE, Mont. — Now that they're allies, Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton will help each other raise money in a series of fundraisers in New York next week.

Obama campaign spokesman Jen Psaki said the Democratic nominee-in-waiting and Clinton will hold three fundraisers. Two events are scheduled for Wednesday night _ one to raise money for his general election campaign and one to help pay off debts from her primary campaign. A third fundraiser, for Obama, is a breakfast Thursday morning with women donors that Clinton, a New York senator, will attend.

The fundraisers will be the first joint appearances by the former foes since their lovefest in Unity, N.H., on June 27.

Perhaps O supporters should ask their candidate himself. Barack, why are YOU helping Clinton? Why are you seeking out Bill and Hillary?

And to those that say anyone not with Obama is RACIST, what is that all about? You are grouping people together? Does Obama feel the same way? Sounds like Independents and Undecideds have a lot to think about and your comments really aren't helping.

Fundraisers. Money money money. How sickening. It never ends. "Hello, I am Mr. Bought and paid for and I am running for the President of the Corporate States of America."

I have read through these comments and I see a bunch from people (claiming to be Hillary supporters) still upset and saying they will NEVER vote for Obama for various ridiculous reasons (ahem...he's not white) but anyway.....IF you are such strong supporters of Hillary, and there are supposedly like 18 million of you, why on earth haven't you sent her money to retire her debt????????????????????? I mean seriously...you talk the talk but its hard to believe you when you have left her high and dry with this HUGE debt. Are you really supporters or are you perhaps just trying to stir things up a bit? Your lack of support for her with her debt is telling indeed.

You are right about that.... why aren't her so faithful supporters paying her debt off?! As far as the people that post here.... I don't think they represent anything remotely related to mainstream America... we are more like a bunch simians howling at the moon when somebody kicks our cage or picking bugs from each other's back to relief the ennui!

You are absolutely right on. Hillary should pay off her own debts with or without the help of her supporters. She can afford it. And Obama should run his own campaign without involving Hill or Bill at all. He should sink or swim on his own.

Why does Barack Obama have to help retire Hillary Clinton's debt? Its not his fault she mismanaged her funds. Why does he constantly have to reach out to her in order to appease her supporters? How does one convince a bigot to change his/her mind? If these people want four more years of economic depression and a continuation of a disastrous war---then voter for McCain + Bush = McSame

Good for both of them!

He is going to be one busy man next week.

I hear McCain is going to be giving major economic speeches - in "red" states.

What is the matter with some of these hard nosed Obama supporters?????

His big money supporters have maxed themselves with contributions to his campaign AND her big money supporters have done the same to her campaign. Get it ???
Now they are asking their supporters to give to each other. It's a fair exchange.

They are NOT paying Hillary's campaign debt, anymore than her supporters are giving money for him to use in the General Election. They are helping each other.

Hillary Haters can't see the forest for the trees.

It is true that if the maxed out donors on each side give to the other side there would be an exchange. However, here is the difference: Hillary is no longer running, so contributions to her campaign WILL be used to retire her debt. Obama is running in the general election, so contributions to his campaign will be used to beat McCain. There are a lot of people out there who think money used to beat McCain is better spent that money used to retire her debt.

BHO chooses to show HRC & the rest of us that unity is a two way street for him. That is the custom among Democrats. HRC would have done the same for BHO.

He stands to make millions in donations if Hillary's choose to back him........last I heard they were not very warm to him. She would have that campaign debt payed off in no time, but her big money
donors are maxed out, as are his with him. So any way you slice it he comes out the big winner in this. His big money donors are maxed out, and yes little 0bamabots........he has collected lots of money from corporations and bankers..........in this "Internet peoples campaign",

She could also have that debt paid off in no time if her so called 18 million supporters would send her as little as $2 each. Whats the problem???? Why haven't you all helped out your Queen?

If HRC was campaigning and fundraising for her debt SIMULTANEOUSLY, I wouldn't have a problem with this. It's looking like: "FIRST, pay my debt, then i'll campaign". There goes that unity ticket.

oh please.

how old are you?
Grow up and figure out how its done.
You can get a clue by reading some political history.

too much work I know.
If you couldn't actually research the candidates why would you bother to learn anything about fundraising.

Is this HRC's idea of "doing whatever it takes" to help Obama. Help pay down her mismanaged campaign? What a crock.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:42 PM on 07/05/2008

Stop complaining. O is lucky she's doing anything at all. These people believe HRC should be the nominee. If they hold their nose and open their wallets to O they should be commended.

The Women's breakfast on Thursday is to benefit Barack's campaign- I'm actually going to it and I've been a lot of former Hillary supporters to commit to buying tickets.

Give Hillary a break, she's doing the right thing- we don't benefit at all by continuing to demean her.

Yeah, maybe Kate M and the NARAL Babes can attend and get some clarification of that late-term abortion flip...Hillary can duck out the back, away from the media and leave Mr. 180 to face that crowd alone! No money going anywhere near the Divine Mr O on Thursday...oh yeah, and the teachers union is bound to attend, they're big Hillary supporters...they probably have a few questions about that 'merit raise' remark. I hope someone sneaks in a camera for a few candid 'clips and qwips'!

He will gain more from this than she will......................that is if she can convince her donors to give to him. To date they have been pretty cool.

"..........their lovefest in Unity,"

This statement cracks me up every single time. Next time I'll wait for them to make out, geez. The msm has nothing better to do than inject their own visionary spin on things. Whatever happened to "just tell it like it is, not like you'd like it to be."

They think if they just repeat it over and over that it will be true. Which it's not. O has less support from HRC supporters now than he did in early June. Sorry, but that's the truth.

closetodemfection: You said,"O has less support from HRC supporters now than he did in early June."
You are right but Obama also has less support from BHO supporters. Isn't this sending a message to the superdelegates that 75,000 people may not show up in Denver after all of his flip-flops. Hillary may be called on after all.

If dems can't come together to defeat the reputhuglicans, we really are losers in many ways. I will just go independent. It will just be a shame. All i have to do is look at the gas prices and economy and see all these hurting people around me and I get ANGRY. No way any dem should vote Rethuglican this year. They have made a mockery of public service. Anyone not trying to put BHO in the white house deserves whatever we get under gramps.

I agree!

I support Obama as with all my heart - as much, if not more, than anyone could have supported Hillary. If he had lost, I would have been devastated. I know that I would not be able to automatically, if ever, transfer my loyalty and passion. But I also damn well know that I would do nothing by thought word or deed to help McCain get elected. And every supporter of Hillary who does not support Obama is doing just that - helping to elect McCain!

What some of us learned is that every vote needs to be counted, and sadly they were not in this DNC manipulated primary season. As a matter of principle, some of us do not want to allow the Democratic party operate like the GOP.

So, you think that somehow the votes were not properly counted in the primary? And because of this, you do not want to 'allow the Democratic party operate like the GOP'? So you are gonna punish the Democratic party by not supporting its candidate, thereby helping to elect the Republican candidate? Where is the logic in that?
