While the Barack Obama campaign is keeping the dates of its international trip a tightly guarded secret, details are beginning to leak out of foreign capitals.

The Obama campaign announced late last month that the candidate would travel to Israel and Jordan in the Middle East and Britain, France and Germany in Europe. The campaign had already disclosed plans to travel to Iraq and Afghanistan, though it has left unclear whether the trip to the war zones will be included in the same international trip.

Reports in foreign media now suggest the trip is scheduled for late July.

The French news agency Agence France-Press reports that French President Nicolas Sarkozy will meet with Obama at the Elysee Palace on Friday July 25.

I think if CIA and FBI can protect the most hated man in the world Bush, they can surely protect Obama.. But, I hope Obama has trusted protection for other sources ,because I absolutely do not trust our guys.. The dark hearts in this adminstration is outstanding.... Obama please protect yourself...

I think while other European leaders respect the US as a nation and the American people, Nicolas Sarkozy's America is that of the neocons, corporations and Hollywood. If sen. Obama is really a change candidate he should visit France, yes but I cannot see the urgency to why he wanted to be identified with a leader who most likely will be defeated in the next election and who has very little respect in France. Frence think Sarkozy polics is vulgar because he acts the way American politicians act. I do not see why Obama want to reinforce that!

, if , on the other hand, Obama is a neoconlite, as some suspect he is, then his rush to be seen with Sarkozy and Angela Merkel make perfect sense!

If leaks persist, maybe he should re-consider hiring HRC folks.

Never liked that idea either. You can never be 100% sure where ex's loyalties stand.

Big, risky price to pay in the name of "unity".

I didnt bother to read the whole story but the headline suggests that the leaks are coming from the countrys he's visiting.Im looking forward to his speech in Germany and at the same time wish he wouldnt leave the country until he's president. The exception is Iraq and Afghanastan with the caveat that its a surprise visit. The reason being, besides his safety in Iraq,It would be right up McCain with the ever present Lieberman and Grahams' alley to crash the party.

I completly agree.
Not until the Clinton folks joined Senator Obama's team, did the leaks began. There will be many leaks as long as Terry Mcaulliffe is around.

After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World, and fill the shoes of Abraham Lincoln, FDR, JFK and Ronald Reagan. 143 days -- I keep leftovers in my refrigerator longer than that. In contrast. But he can't keep the leaks out of his operation....even the French find out!!!

Don't be ridiculous. He has been a politician for about 11 yrs and what the does the number of years really matter when what you did with those years really matters. JFK barely showed up to work when he was Senator because he felt it was boring. Lincoln had less yrs of experience than Obama. If you watch Obama and read his books you will know this man has the wisdom, temperment, and work ethic to be President. A President has a vision of how they want to lead the country. Their job is to have the judgement to surround themselves with the most competent people and motivate citizens to execute that vision. Obama has a better mindset of the world to handle foreign affairs than McCain. In addition, he knows the history of this country better than any candidate than I have seen. I am so amazed at the ignorance of history in this country. If more people knew their history we would not be repeating the same mistakes every election cycle. We may actually be PROUD to be an American. We also need to teach some civics classes so people know what the President and Congress actually does. In my opinion, he will govern much better than McCain. In addition, he brings in more engaged citizens to pressure Congress and himself to follow through on all those policies. It's time for a change

great post...i don't think folks can be labeled mis-informed anymore. if you haven't been turned on enough now to get the facts, especially given all that is at stake in this election, then you are just grossly ignorant. Great post but I feel like it will fall on deaf ears. People believe what they want to believe, even if there is no evidence to suggest as much.

thats DISGUSTING that anything stays in your fridge that long!!!!

Secondly, please tell the experience that Lincoln had when he becam President... and please don't lump Reagan in there, he was not all that people make him out to be....

after decades of so called "experience" McNutsack still doesn't know if he stands for what he said yesterday or what is being whispered in his ear today!!!

FYI: if he wants to lead us out of Iraq, he should first find out the difference between a Shite and a Sunni

I badly need someone with brains in his skull to be our next president. Hope this is the last time morons will run the affairs of this great nation because it rubs off on all of us. I felt embarrassed when my British friend asked me if all Americans reason like W.

Nicolas Sarkozy is the face of neocon in Europe and is treated with contempt in his own country! So is candidate Barack Obama wants to be associate with Sarko?

True. However Sarkozy also seems to be becoming a bit more popular... Besides, he might be the only European Head of State who is truly friendly toward the USA. Hell, Sarkozy may even allow Obama to re-open Everue AFB which DeGaule closed in 1966.

Conservative party in Europe is not the same as Neo-con US. They don't advocate war as the end all be all solution to problems. Immigration issues is about the only political similarity they share.

Remember Blair? Labor party? the one equivalent to the Democratic party in US? Well, he was the only full fledged supporter of Bush's war! Conservatives were all against Bush.

Sarkozy losing popularity in France, had more to do with his personal life (divorce, marry model, flaunt his private life etc), at a time when people expected him to fix other internal problems, mainly economical, and he's actually now slowly regaining respect from the french.

So, besides the fact, that meeting a head of state of an allied country (NATO), is not called "associating" with him, there would be absolutely no issue in Obama and Sarkozy getting acquainted!

I like the idea of a bi-partisan visit to important capitals. Sen. Hagel has shown he is a man of integrity, willing to put the welfare of the people ahead of party politics.

I suspect that the contrast between speeches by Obama, and McCain and Bush, will be truly astounding. To have someone of intelligence and honor in the White House will be very refreshing.
