ABC News:

The Christian Defense Coalition held their anti-Obama press conference today -- "An Appeal to Catholics Regarding the 2008 Presidential Election" -- complete with the "I want you to pay for abortions" Obama-as-Uncle-Sam picture we told you about Monday as well as some other interesting material.

Such as: this image of slavery, invoked in the CDC's literature to argue that there is nothing wrong with Catholics being "single issue" voters on abortion.

Argues the CDC: "if that issue involves a fundamental right, such as the right to life for a certain group of human beings, and there is only one morally legitimate position on that issue...no faithful Catholic would vote for a candidate who, although 'personally opposed to slavery,' supported 'a white man's right to choose' to own slaves."

They will support an administration that bombs innocent civilians in Baghdad, they never criticize or complain about the lose of Iraqi children or the millions of refugees created by the shock and awe policies of Bush, yet they find their voice and complain about Obama who never ordered the bombing of women and children and never killed anyone, but they find it objectionable if a candidate supports a womans right to choice and they seem to have no problem with a president killing children after they are born.

I don't think these wedge issues will work this time. They may have last time for a myriad of reasons, John Kerry being a fairly weak candidate one of them, but I think they will have less of an impact.

Also I have always found it ironic that the same people that are anti-abortion are also staunch defenders of the death penalty.

What I would like to know is, if Jesus Christ our lord and saviour wanted to run, for the presidence today , would he qualify and, would he be a Liberal or a Republican? Taking his teachings into consideration.

John 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

BTW I know some use this speech against jews to justify their hate for jews( which is against everything christ teaches) I just want to clarify : Jesus does not hate jews ,he uses the word symbolically.like he does "Israel "in ...

"Exo 4:22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:"
He isn't reffering to a physical bloodline.

Well, these very same people support the killings currently being perpetrated in Iraq. That includes men, women, children and yes, even unborn foetuses. Carpet bombing like the one America carried out in the first stages of the illegal war doesnt recognise a foetus from a militia.

Right now, Blackwater and even some of the military still shoot indiscriminately on crowds which yes does contain pregnant women. After effects of depleted Uranuim left behind by some of the weapons the US Military is currently using in Iraq are killing this same unborn babies or will kill them shortly after their birth.

Perhaps they are arguing that G W Bush and the GOP have the right to kill but a mother doesnt have te right to abort?

There was never an argument about whether a black slave was a human being. Since both white men and women had sex with slaves, there was no question about their humanity.

Most people, however, don't believe an embryo or fetus is an equal human being.

As with everything the right says, this is just crap.

This is absolutely disgusting. I am beyond outrage though, because I completely expected race to be used in a very ugly and derogatory manner in this presidential campaign. And as disgusting as this is, this is just the beginning of what we will see.

I won't call them Christians...I'll call them BOTTOM FEEDERS, because that's truly what they are.

^^^ Good analogy if you aren't some radical leftwing nut reading WAY too much in to it but what it simply is. (A good point).

If you are of any of the major religion then you automatically must believe abortion is wrong. It doesn't say "THOU SHALL NOT KILL.......unless a doctor does it).

Like it or not, this group has a good point as far as religious belief goes. Any so-called Christian or catholic that supports a pro-abortion candidate is in fact a hypocrite.

What do you think of the death penalty?
Tell me your views on dropping bombs on people.
Sending people off to war to kill... to die.
People starving all over the world.
People starving in the United States.
GREED.
MONEY MONEY MONEY.

"Sell all that you have, then you can follow me" - Jesus to the rich young ruler

Tell me again about hypocrisy.

That would be Luke 18:22.

Most Christians that put out this garbage or would buy into this attack ad believe that verse was a typo.

Funny how Jesus taught radical redistribution of resources for a more equitable society.

Even God gives us a choice. God does not make us do right, he simply teaches us through his Word and encourages us to 'choose' to make the morally right choice. Nevertheless, God gives us 'choice'...then he forgives it the wrong option was selected.

Now I ask...why does man impose a restriction on our choice to right or wrong, when God doesn't do this?

BTW, what are consequences for?

Hey, if God is so against abortion, he's certainly taking his time getting us to abandon it.

I mean, how many fetus' have been aborted since roe v wade?

Guess he was too busy taking sides on the Super Bowl.

Although I'm being sarcastic, I do have a point- if God is all powerful he could have stopped it. And if he hasn't by now, and could havem the blood is on his hands, not ours.

Goin to bed- good luck with your arguments troll.

I disagree with your final point on several levels. For starters, I sincerely doubt that very many people are, as you say, pro-abortion. Pro-Abortion implies that you encourage this act, and noon does that. I myself am a Catholic, and naturally I see the wrong in abortion. However, I am an American and a Human Being before I am a Catholic, and I strongly feel that it is imperative that we do not impose our beliefs on others, and that everyone is entitled to the freedom of choice. This is why I am Pro-Choice, and cannot support a Pro-Life candidate, as they aim to oppress the beliefs of others, and that is profoundly un-American. I accept that many people of my religion may be disgusted with my position, and that this belief could cause me to be denied communion by some priests, but my stance is firm. I will not tell others to do what I believe.

I'm pro-abortion.

I encourage abortion for every woman that feels it will improve her life to even the slightest degree.

I am also pro-root canal, pro-hip replacement, pro-any medical procedure a person feels will help them.

Abortion is just another medical procedure once you get rid of the superstitions.

The reason why these so called religious rightwing fanatics use slavery to depict their stance on abortion is that because its hard for them to justify it religiously.

No where in the Bible did it say that God is against abortion. In fact, careful studies of the Bible seem to indicate they really didn't care for babies as we did today.

The rightwing pundits will try to point out that the ten commandments says "thou shall not kill." However, the word "kill" in the ten commandments means murder. God permitted some killings during those days such as killing once enemies or killing for self defense. So pro-life people are wrong. They cannot tell us that abortion is wrong because God said its wrong. The religious rightwing pundits are wrong too to make it a religious issue when it has nothing to do with Christianity and the Bible.

What abortion really is is a platform for which conservatives and rightwing pundits to run an issue during election. They can care less what you do with your baby. But they only care for your votes.

Soliciting votes under the banner of the Catholic Church is at least unseemly, if not illegal since the church is disencumbered!

WTF! Does the imagery suggest that Obama and anyone else who is pro-choice no better than a slave master who snatches a baby away from an African American slave that was not even considered to be fully human during slavery times? Is this what I see here? Is this a political ad? Where is the separation of church and state? I think we should call upon the IRS to revoke their status as a non-profit - tax exempt organization. This is outragous! If this group cares so much for the crimes of the past then I would fully expect that they should be first on the God-wagon pushing for reparations to be paid to African Americans for their role in the slave trade. I'm sure that we will all be watching from Heaven or screaming in hell before that day ever comes around.

It seems that the issue of Abortion is the only litmus test for these groups.
What about all the people that have been killed, or had there lives destroyed by our invasion of Iraq.
I guess that's OK.
Looks like the good old pot calling the kettle black.
