Ashley Dupre

As Ashley Dupre sunned herself on the Jersey Shore, rumors were flying that the former call girl may become the "next Tila Tequila" as she reportedly enters talks to get her own dating reality show. The New York Post reports:

The Post caught up with the former $4,300- a-night-prostitute yesterday as she sunned herself in a bikini on a beach in Sea Girt, NJ.

Dupre only gave a coy giggle and said "no comment" when asked about the reality-show plans.

Her mother, Carolyn Capalbo, fueled speculation further when she laughed and said: "You'll have to follow her out to LA."

The governor-loving good-time girl is reportedly working on her reality dreams with Handprint Entertainment, a management company that reps the likes of Nicole Richie and Pamela Anderson.

When asked for comment about reports of their working with the legendary lady of the evening, Handprint's rep hung up on a reporter twice.

E! reported that Dupre's reps have gone to MTV with their ideas for a show. However, a highly placed MTV source denied they got a pitch.

Keep reading story.

Thank-you Ashley for choosing to take the high road for once in your life. Clearly society is in desperate need of a former prostitute to add more dimension to its programming. Women everywhere need a person like you in the spotlight you classy-lady you. In a year when we almost saw a women become a nominee for pesident, I am so glad you are going to be there basking in the spotlight- a female laughing stock. Many thanks to you.

There's something terribly wrong with this situation. The Democratic Governor loses his position and prestige over an extra-marital affair having nothing to do with his political office. The call-girl, the other half of his "sin", gets a high-priced position in the entertainment/gossip industry. We are truly a screwed-up nation.

People actually watch Tila Tequila?

The 30 second clips I get on The Soup are more than enough. Who can sit through an entire half hour of that?

Being the "next Tila Tequila" is like being called the "next pile of dog poop."

If you're into that sort of thing..

What's was once bad is now good. What was once immoral is now applauded. The counterculture is now the culture.

God help our children.

aren't whores just great role models? I wonder if she will thank Eliot Spitzer for his sponsorship of her career and for lending his name to her success. Just what our young girls need to be seeing on TV and/or MTV.... who needs standards? Obviously America has done away with any sense of moral or ethical limitations or accountability..... it just gets in the way of making money.

The next Tila Tequila? I don't know. She really doesn't look like a 12 year old boy in drag.

So parents are already buying their pre-teen girls stripper clothes, teenagers are being offered 'Girlicious', 'My Humps' and Tila Tequila, while young adult women are taking pole-dancing classes. And now we might make an actual prostitute into a TV star. Pardon me, but W?!T?!F?!

Women fought for years to get an even break -- which they STILL haven't really got -- and meanwhile American society seems to be doing its level best to bring up the next generation of girls as vacuum-headed poodles who think their body is their only currency.

So -- where's the outrage? Hmm?

This is obviously a knee jerk reaction from the y generation, caused by decades of puritanical, sexually pent up, anal retentive behavior. Like drugs, if prostitution were legal, it would be cleaner, safer, and not nearly as alluring to children (or adults). A lot cheaper, too. If guys could go get a quicky every now and then, it would probably decrease domestic violence AND bring better sex home to the wife. Be disgusted if you like, women, but it is a fact that every beautiful woman has a bored lover nearby.

metalpipe, you're talking garbage. I'm not taking any stand on the legalization of prostitution in my post. (In fact, I'm pro-legalization, but that's irrelevant here.)

What I'm objecting to is the increasing presentation of prostitution, porn, stripping etc. as acceptable -- even desirable -- things for a woman to do with her life. An easy way to make money ... I've even heard one prostitute describe the job as "empowering", which is about the most extreme case of mirror-blindness I've ever seen.

Girls who do this never get respect from any man. They become professional liars and manipulators, often get hooked on bad drugs, and end up emotionally damaged (at the very least), because the things you see and do stay in your head forever. (Yes, I have known both strippers and prostitutes, and I have seen this happen.)

Also, in environments where whoring is seen as commonplace, many men start to think of all women as whores. If you need evidence of this, just talk to a few ex-pats who've lived for any length of time in, say, Bangkok.

Finally, I don't think that being at the centre of a sex scandal is a good enough reason to give someone their own TV show.

"Every beautiful woman has a bored lover nearby?" I suppose you speak from experience, but I can't imagine what makes you think that applies to the rest of the world.
