"The Dark Knight" just spilled over into early morning.

In a frenzy, fans have bought so many late-night tickets for the July 18 opening of the next Batman movie that theaters in places like San Diego, Chicago, and even Eagan, Minn., are scheduling 6 a.m. screenings for those who can't get in at midnight or 3 in the morning.

Movie theaters have sometimes opened their doors at odd hours for their most highly anticipated films, say, an entry in the "Star Wars" series, and midnight shows have become part of the summer blockbuster ritual.

Right now E! is showing H. Ledger's bio. He is of the likes of actor James Dean.

I look forward to them getting the Batman movie right, so they don't have to keep remaking it.

How come something can be sold before it's even available to the public?? I thought enumeration laws made this kind of thing illegal by the Constitution?? Why is it only the rich that can benefit while the public at large is told to "shut up and deal with it"???

I forgot, if you got an American Express gold card, you can buy up everything ahead of time, then turn around and scalp on the street, ebay, personal website, acquaintences, etc, etc. Getting to be where a Gold Card holder is akin to being a Drug Lord, both have their cartels and manipulate people for their own gain. ;)

Maybe people went onto web sites such as fandango.com. I can go there and buy a ticket for The Dark Knight on July 17th for $9.00 for a few of the local movie places. And I can use my poor little debit card to purchase said tickets.

Everyone loves Batman. This isn't about Heath.

BATMAN is the laughing stock of the cinema world....no one has
any respect for these films at all....none.

Have you seen Batman Begins? If not, shut your piehole.

I like Batman, and loved the Batman tv series, but most of the movies have been overfluffed cheese that isn't even as good as the Adam West tv series. Course, most Superhero movies in the last couple decades have largely been disappointments. About the only thing that made the X-Men series of any note, was the fact that they had a huge worldwide following, and tons of hot female celebrities in the movie. Guess that means a Batgirl movie, which would be original for a change, would be a huge seller. Hell, I'd love it if they brought back the old Electra Woman & Dynagirl tv series, that was largely better than the Batman fluff.

Batman on tv? Sure, I enjoyed it, but it was campy and cheesey. As for the movies, I recall critics raving about Jack Nicholson's Joker, Tommy Lee Jones' Two-Face, and Jim Carrey's Riddler. I haven't seen any since those, so my pie hole is shut about the rest of the franchise.

TALK ABOUT HYPE.....HITCHCOCK WAS RIGHT ACTORS DONT MATTER
ITS THE DIRECTOR THAT COUNTS......OVERRATED ACTORS ARE
MERELY THAT HOWEVER SAD THEIR EARLY DEMISE

Yeah? Try to make a movie without actors, bub. And don't say Wall-E or something stupid like that. Even animated movies need actors. Who do you think voices those roles? The night janitor at Pixar? There are ACTORS behind those characters. Yes, directors matter. But only in the sense of creating a visual story. Writers matter because they create stories from thin air. And yes, actors matter. Unless you'd rather watch silent animated movies for the rest of your life.

THE AUTEUR theory of film is widely accepted, and it is the director who is the
auteur. He transforms a dead series of words and selects the actors, he is
THE MAN. ACTORS ARE JUST INGREDIENTS LIKE THE SLA IN A SALAD.
NICE SLA IS GOOD. BUT SLA IS JUST SLA. LOOK AT BOGART WHEN HE
HAD GREAT DIRECTORS. THE DIRECTOR IS THE KEY. ACTORS AND WRITERS
ARE MAINLY CONTRIBUTORS TO HIS OR HER VISION, AND NOT THE MAIN
CREATIVE FORCE OF CINEMA. LOOK AT STAR WARS....TOTAL NOTHING
BECAUSE THE DIRECTOR IS WEAK... GREAT FILMS HAVE GREAT DIRECTORS
AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT....

I have yet to see a Hollywood movie since Bourne Identity, especially a Batman movie, that was 1/100th as good as that movie Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Hell, even the digital actors looked a hell of alot better and more credible than most actors today. ;)

The previews look really sweet and I am sorry Ledger won't be around to enjoy the success of his performance. His death is probably adding to the buzz, but man, when I saw the promotional stills from the film I got chills. Should be good. Move over Jack, there's a new Joker in town.

Makes me wonder if all the pre-release hype would have paid off if Ledger was still above ground. Since when do Batman sequels create so much buzz? Morbid curiousity?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:35 AM on 07/10/2008

No. The hype started with the last scene of the previous movie, where the joker card was revealed. Batman Begins caught people by surprise cause they weren't expecting it to be so good. So that plus the prospect of The Joker returning has made The Dark Knight the big event movie for the summer.

Bull, it's the same cheezy hype going back to the early ones when people said Jack Nicholson was the perfect Joker. But even a man of his talent couldn't save a movie from itself. It bombed in spite of an all-star lineup and illustrious comic pedigree.

Such a great actor. Gonna miss his work.

If any actor was as super-doped-up as Heath Ledger was prior to his death (presumably also during the shooting of this film), he would also have given an equally weird, moody, and quirky performance as the late actor reportedly delivered.
PS: Someone call Mary-Kate Olson!

Such a shame Heath will not see his triumph of his characterization of The Joker.

Such a shame.
