Brave New Films: Sorry FOX, We Won't Let You Trash Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama has come in for particularly poor treatment on FOX News -- from the "terrorist fist jab" to "Obama's Baby Mama," along with scores of comments on her supposed bitterness. In a new video, Brave New Films catalogs the racism and misinformation in FOX's anti-Obama attacks.

"Not only are they smearing Michelle Obama with racist stereotypes, but then they offer a feeble apology that they believe gives them the right to slander her again," the group says in a press release. "FOX's long history of racism is nothing new, but it has been particularly egregious when it comes to their coverage of the Obamas. Racism and fearmongering have no place in our country or its politics, despite what FOX would have you believe."

I signed this petition a couple of months ago. Blacks are happy about O's possibilities but troubled as we continue to be unheard, misunderstood and basically lied on. IMO, Sen. O and his wife are willing, able vessels to lead this nation. They don't deserve to be torn down this way. Why is it that Cindy McCain and Laura Bush are off limits but Michelle Obama is not? I mean, I knew we lived in a racist country but my heart still hurts...

Lets write the advertisers and stop buying any products advertised on that channel, boycott the show, get signs and protest in front of their studios. Does FOX know how important it is for every adult, especially those in the news media, to set an example to the nation's youth? That is, if they care about the country's future. I agree with many of your sentiments, but I think any effort to silence or change FOX is misguided. I think we are better off hearing a variety of views, and learning to spot the propaganda, spin, and distortions. I, for one, find FOX enormously entertaining-you can count on them to take things too far on a regular basis. FOX's tendency towards hyperbole and distortion is both reliable and enormously entertaining. It is ironic that there is no greater enemy to FOX's reputation than FOX itself. I would urge Huff readers to kick back and enjoy the ride.

Also, I'd like to point out, for the record, that venality and lack of integrity in reporting are not confined to FOX news (though they certainly thrive there).

I simply stoped watching the media a long time ago! I always thought Russet was the only real news man reporter on the news net work in todays world. He's gone now, and all that is left is trash! There is no integrity or real news on T.V. any more! I get it now by reading the time, washington post, huffington, dailykos and many more on research sights for the trueth! Why listen to lies, when I can go straight to the trueth. do you know how many video's I've seen this last year on Mccains on going flip flops, and memory problems I've seen on U tube and other place's this year"? Part of what makes Fox viewers actually listen to this stuff is that they blend sensationalism with senses. The content is and always will be minimal to the bombardment of the senses viewers receive when watching and listening.

They remain effective because they continue to listen.

I'm not a fan of Fox News, but there seems to be an exquisite sensitivity regarding the media's treatment of Michelle Obama. Her husband is the Democratic nominee, and she is campaigning for him. She is going to be attacked. Just like Theresa Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Reagan, etc, have been attacked and lampooned in the past. I'm not saying that it's right or fair, but that is the way that it goes.
