Chocolate News: David Alan Grier To Host Fake News Show From Black Perspective

Get ready for a black, tongue-in-cheek version of "Dateline."

"Chocolate News," a new sketch comedy series on Comedy Central, will made its debut in October, just in time for the presidential election. The show, starring David Alan Grier, will pretend to offer news from an African-American perspective.

Speaking to reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour on Wednesday, Mr. Grier said that if Barack Obama wins the presidency, it would be a windfall for his show. "That would be like a monumentous occasion culturally and comedically," he said.

Robert Morton, an executive producer, said the show is "figuring out how to do some sort of live topical presentation the night after the election."

"We just have to," Mr. Morton said. "It's too good to miss."

I know this will sound racist but, why aren't there any original black shows? This is nothing but the Daily Show, plus black. It seems like all black programming is simply a black version of some other show that did it first.

How can anything blacks do in America be original when we were raised in the image of whites and stripped and beaten out of our heritage very early on? We are not like Latinos and Asians--my ancestors were brainwashed and beaten to forget their culture and adopt yours--which is why your comment makes no sense. Dave Chapelle wasn't "Original" yet his show was enormously popular. Rap is about the only thing I can think of that blacks in America originated.

Whoa, "stripped and beaten"! Hmmmm, you got my attention. Well dude how about "the Blues", and "Ragtime", and "Jazz" to name some REAL genres of music, or the cuisine of most of the south, and the great advances in medical science. Great writers and orators like Frederick Douglas and Martin Luther King, Jr. (We'll just forget Jesse Jackson for now.) The African American culture has all kinds of things that they can rightly be proud. Since from what you write I assume you are African American (although I'm confused about the "black" references. You should be ashamed that all you can think of that blacks originated was Rap. How Sad.
