A month ago, NBC's electoral map showed an exact tie between Obama and McCain -- including 'base' and 'lean' states, each had 200 electoral votes. But on this month's map, Obama has opened up a 210-189 lead over McCain, with 139 electoral votes in the toss-up column. Watch Chuck Todd explain:

Of couse it's going towards Obama. Hillary Die-Hards are going to "grow-up and suck it up" and face the facts that they do NOT want the young women and men shot at everyday in Iraq. Despite their "emotional feelings" right now, they are waking up to the realization of just how important it is to vote for a Democrat for president. Stop boo'hooing to Chris Mathews and tell him that you care to much about wounded and dead soldiers to let your hurt feeeeeeeeeelings affect your vote.

I just got off of the realclearpolitics website and started unpacking the numbers a little... since june 1st obama has been up in VA and in MI (Big in MI). I haven't gotten through all the numbers but he is not trailing in any poll in either state. The last time he trailed in either one was May 18th. Check it out.

The electoral map on Real Clear Politics has it Obama 238 to McCain 163 with toss up at 137. Don't forget that MSNBC wants to keep this election tight so they have something to talk about. Chuck Todd claims to be the electoral guru, but if you listen to his political commentary it rapidly becomes apparent that he is a McCain supporter. If anyone thinks that MSNBC is a fan of Obama, I would suggest a visit to Media Matters to how they are slanting toward McCain. Of course Keith and Rachel are the exceptions.

i say act like you need a 100 votes than 60. act as if your still losing by big margins and work to perform better in all states than tossups. extend that goal make it farther than it is and you dont get a big head or lose the view of the ground floor. win!

I am a very active Arizona Democrat and we know that McCain is about 3 to 5 points BEHIND Obama in Arizona! What the MSM does not want to report is there is a Hugh and I do mean HUGH lead for Obama and the indicators are all blinking BLUE!!! The fact that McCain , or as we call him here in Arizona "Senator Senile" just trashed Social Security , not a word, his campaign just called Americans "Whiners"not a word , he has denied saying what he said not once but twice not a word, a vet read his anti vet voting record back to him at a "town hall meeting" ( in quotes because Democrats are not allowed in to these events) and he said I can't remember" . This is going to be the worst defeat for a Republican since the last time an Arizona Senator was the candidate. THIS TIME HE MAY NOT CARRY HIS OWN STATE!

That is good to hear out there in AZ, a state I love to visit, and hope to retire to someday.
"Senator Senile" gets a free pass from the press...burns me up. If that were Obama he'd be finished by now. I hope things change in the fall when people are paying closer attention and the better ads hit the airwaves.

Chuck Todd is a numbers guy. Remember- never gamble with a guy that has two first names.

Purely superstition. Two first names effects a person how?

We have to ignore the polls and the pundits because we cannot afford to become complacent. The 'pubs still have the vote rigged in a lot of key areas, so the only way we can assure victory for Obama is for him to win by a landslide.

I am not going to get over enthused about speculation, the bottom line is the administration has pulled all kinds of tricks and I put nothing pass them! October surprises could make the July 4th fire works look dull!

While I am happy to hear that states are opening up to a possible Obama victory, we still have a long way to go. I will be sending some more money to the campaign and will continue to do so until November. Kerry was leading in July too.

It's July. All polls are meaningless until at least September, and usually about 10% of the electorate breaks in one direction or another during the last _week_ of the general election. Anything poll we see or hear about now is just meaningless.

I would dearly love my fellow Kansans to cut that center tier of red states in half by voting for Obama, with or without the governor on the ticket. Here as in other states, the young voters are going to have to make noise and show up. Old habits die hard; a lot of these older voters have been stuck in Republican gear since Ike and the '50s.

I really like Chuck Todd but he doesn't know what I have heard from my 100 fellow Republicans.

They told me that they are not voting for McCain. They will either stay home or vote for Obama just so that they can say to their kids, I helped make US HISTORY.

That was some strong words coming from a bunch of Vets.

6 Million US Citizens in Foreign Countries and 3 Million are voting for Obama 1 Million on the fence and the others are trying to switch parties from Republican to Democrat.

Florida as of May 1st has 500k new voters registered Democrat.

That is 1.3 Million new Democrats since the beginning of the election.

GO OBAMA!!!

Obama--er--Dewey Defeats Truman!

The overly enthusiastic 'nativeeyes' is to be forgiven for overlooking the many problem areas for the Obama candidacy.

As a lifelong Democrat I have been confident that my party could win big this year.

I remain confident.

Any Democrat NOT named Obama, Soros or Gore could win the presidency easily--if they could manage to sound the least bit like Franklin Roosevelt when addressing the millions of potential voters who are choosing between their gas tank, healthcare, groceries, and mortgage payments.

If the Dems nominate a Hedge Fund guy--like Obama or Gore--who would rather hug a polar bear --than upset a speculator and war profiteer like George Soros--they will lose to any GOP candidate who can tie their shoes.

NEWSFLASH: to Jer1957:

McCain is the very GOP candidate who CANNOT tie his own shoes. He's got those velcro tabs on his shoes so the senescent senior does not have to remember if its left over right or right over left.

All I hear from MSM is that even though Obama leads McCain by 8%, Obama should have a larger lead. Not sure who these poll takers contact, but many people have been foreclosed on, lost their phone service and just not responding to anything because they are really depressed by this government. So, who should pay attention to any poll.

I'd really like to see the media start using a map of the country where state's relative size is based on its electoral college votes. Every time one of the square mile proportional (ie, regular map) is used, it always looks like Republicans are SOOOOO much more popular. Unfortunately there are some very foolish people that just want to back "the winner" and looking at a map like this, think that more people favor the "red" candidate, which is not really the case.

You hate it? I live in Hawaii - we're usually the string of little blue dots that look more like someone's pen sprung a leak than a state, stuck way off in one of the left hand corners. At least MSNBC has put us in the Gulf of Mexico this year.

Senator Obama has an excellent chance of winning this election - his only downfall will be the democratic party itself.
The Hillary factor (and all her minions), the Bill Clinton factor, the Jesse Jackson factor (and all his minions), the FISA outrage, the biased media coverage, etc. etc.
The election is theirs to lose.
Right now the biggest rock around Obama's neck is Hillary's campaign debt - lots of Obama supporters are really angry that he's even asking them to pay off her campaign debt. She's wealthy, she can pay it off herself. OR, let her "women supporters that plan to vote for McCain" raise the money.
I'm sick of HiIllary and Bill and Jesse and the rest of the hangers on that will be Obama's downfall.

If the demacratic party loses this time, it will be on the heads of Hillary clinton, bill clinton, Jesse jackson and a few other Demacrate's who hasn't a brain in their heads to do what needs to do to bring obama accross the finish line! Can'lt blame or obama or the Kansas Governor or those who are actually towing the line on this! Hillary supporters are acting like they are not true Demacrates, and I say this as a Republican who actually fliped to Demacrates this year, because Mccains really scares the hell out of me! This man has nothing to offer this country! I will respect his service to the United States, but it alone was a poor sercvice indeed. Graduateing at the bottom of your class int he military service, an distroying 3 to 4 air planes, and being shot down because of your own poor pilot skills, and ending up as a POW for I don't care how long does not give you good Military service, or pre -pare you to lead a country! It earns you our respect for serviceing our country, and that is all! He did nothing unique in the time of war, others have not done, and I wouldn't put any of those others in the office of president either! if obama falls, there will be no one to blame, but those idiot demacrates who can't keep their mouth shut and do what is necessary to win the presidential office!

Hey Todd, you need to resign...if so many are toss ups, Obama is by no means on his way to winning...I dislike McCain a lot, but this false narrative will lead nowhere...
